Hi everyone. I did a mistake in the beginning regarding scythes and war. They were definitely used as weapons in war. I should have said that it was never designed/created as a weapon, that would have been way more accurate.

Scythes used in war had their blades turned so they resembled the Glaive more than crop scythes. Scythes like you see in fantasy games were never used in war. You were right the first time.

CubeWorks it’s very easy to get kill a greatsword and great axes you just need to be smart with it and not spam the weapon art and always try to bait them to attack because most attacks are slow and very easy to dodge

I've been saying that the scythe critical animations are shit since dark souls 1. Is it really that hard to animate someone maybe kicking the enemy back and then slashing through their chest or something? Or maybe digging it into their flesh behind the collarbone? It's not hard but no they just said "eh fuck it no one's gonna use these weapons anyway just make them shove it through the person"

I think friedes weapon of choice is not just random or for coolness, i believe that since she is not native to the painting world, she wanted to convince father ariandel and the residents of the painting she was their saviour and mistress, priscilla(or at least an incarnation or descendant of her) so as to make them believe in her plan to stop the rebirth of the painting. For that reason she imitated priscilla, F E E T, scythe and all.

The only time the bleed really hurts is when fighting bleed builds, but even then its not too bad.

You can dish out some pretty serious hurt with a Great Hammer. That being said, there's not much you can do if your opponent doesn't trade with you, or mess up. That is why I said they suck.

I'd say that's most likely the best greathammer in the game, that or pickaxe, pikaxe is too fast to REALLY be a greathammer though, and the great club has a good r2, other than that, all the greathammers are complete garbage, so all that is is between them two, and pickaxe is much faster, so it's not even debatable, really

Friede's Scythe is the coolest weapon in DS3. I love it. The only disappointment is that FromSoftware could have made this weapon way more awesome. It should be dual scythe without weapon art. Weapon art should be dark pyromancy effect similar to Onyx Blade. Reposte should have looked cooler with the grab attack Friede does when she attacks after invisibility. And backstab should have been the dual scythe head slicing. However, the WA R1 does not consume FP so I have no complaints.

Seth Brooking While it does more damage, the weapon art is kind of useless. Perserverance is great on the BK Sword but not on a hammer that already has massive hyperarmour. With the Quakestone Hammer weapon art you can really throw people off. Hit them with both attacks and you'll probably kill them. Miss the first, just delay the second one slightly so they try to attack, then toss them up in the air.

Actually scythes were used as weapons for quite a long time and in many places; peasants would use them as improvised weapons in rebellions and there actually were scythes repurposed for combat purposes, the so-called war scythes (wikipedia actually has a page about it if you're interested).

If you take the scythes blade and point it vertically instead of horizontaly you get yourself an illegal weapon during ww1

Hollow infusions actually increase status by a small amount, though it isn't shown anywhere. The corvian greatscythe becomes a great weapon when you level luck before strength and dex, even foregoing strength if you need to fit into 120.

nice video PvPSkillz my man, so happy we finally have a scythe in dark souls 3 that lives up to the legacies of the burial blade and the church pick from Bloodborne! definitely do great hammers next! ciao!

One thing often overlooked for this weapon class: The r1 can be followed up by an r2 for more damage. It's a true combo (at least 2handed) and will often be more effective than r1>r1. I recommend: Great scythe - the only one I haven't used too much (essentially the same as corvian)... refined is probably the most effective. Corvian scythe - one of my favourite weapons due to the variety of builds that can use it effectively... refined, hollow, or elemental all have their perks. My top choice is dark because it does more damage than refined without a buff and does ~80% damage through most shields. Pontiff knight scythe - disappointingly short, but good to practice with... requires at least 40 dex to be usable and it can be fun to throw in snap freeze to increase frost buildup. Freide's - seems to be the longest and has an interesting moveset with a learning curve... dex/ int will get you crazy damage Great job hitting 100k! You deserve it :)

I completely disagree with your conclusion here PvPSkillz! Freide's Great Scythe may have the superior hyperarmour weapon art, but its two-handed R1 is noticably slower than the regular reaper 2HR1. I have played a lot with the Corvian Great Scythe (it is my favourite weapon, and I play with it most days) and the 2H moveset has a lot more range than you perhaps realise. When I play with this weapon, I'm only ever outranged by the longer spears, Yhorm's, and reactive Onyx Blade players. I will outrange Freide's with this weapon. The Corvian Scythe is also applicable to a far greater diversity of builds than Freide's, so this gives the user far more options if they are restricting themselves to a meta level build. A correction I should make, is that you said that Lighting Infusion on the Corvian gives an A scaling in Faith at +10. This is not true, it gives you an S scaling. Although I think most people agree that elemental infusions are suboptimal in PvP, I feel like this is at least worth mentioning, as it is one of the few weapons with this property. Finally, I'd also like to note that in my months of maining this weapon, the self-bleed effect has been a problem for me on only two occasions. Both times were careless play against a carthus-buffed Onislayer spamming player, and I feel like they would likely have bled me out anyway. Also, whilst we're talking about special weapon properties, I think it's fairly uncontroversial to say that bleed is far more useful than frostbite in PvP. A carthus buffed Corvian will proc bleed faster than Freide's weapon art will proc frost against a competent player. I'll concede that Freide's Scythe is much cooler (not least because of the Frost damage :P ) than Corvian, but Corvian is clearly the superior weapon, unless your opponent is willing to stand still whilst you use Friede's weapon art. But in that case, you could probably beat said opponent with any Scythe.

Rory Tulip Finding another Corvian main is like finding a needle in a haystack. Totally agreed with all of your points. As a Corvian main myself, I've found that the only other time I have a problem with the self-bleed is when fighting the Deacons boss, as hitting a lot of enemies at once builds it up pretty fast. The only weapons I have a problem fighting are reactive washing pole players, pike/lothric knight longspear players and yhorms players. Other than that though I can out-space most other players just fine. Love Corvian for its style and versatility.

I've been rocking the Corvian Scythe lately on a 40 dex 40 luck sharp infused build and the bleed damage is phenomenal. Especially when buffed. Definitely loving this weapon :)

The term is to wreak havoc, not wreck. It's pronounced REEK To wreak means to "cause a large amount" of havoc. To wreck havoc would translate into breaking or damaging widespread destruction, which doesn't make sense. EDIT: edited out the douche

That's true, you are right, just be nice about it, people take constructive criticism very well, or at least better than salt, helping someone speak better English is good, but poking fun usually just gets ignored, also he may be doing the best he can, some languages just simply pronounce things so different that they have a hard time putting the sounds together, for instance I'm learning Spanish and cannot roll my R' s, just because it doesn't exist in English,

PvPSkillz I am lately following your videos, and want to tell you that for me, their are one of the most enjoyable when it comes to DS. So thanks so much for that, I really appreciate it. duhok star Oh yeah the one handed is not worth doing at all. But unlike Greataxes you can get a two hit combo while two handing. That plus A scaling in a 60 str build and if you use the great club you can buff the damage with the weapon art.

Top spears would be great :)

Excellent video as always friend! Just one thing I noticed while using Friede's scythe (and it's in the description), but it seems to do pretty legit stamina damage to people who do block. Can open people using BKS in 2-3 hits for a riposte if they decide to soak the hits. Also on a side note: What BL are you going for on your Bloodborne playthrough? It would be fun to duel you!

Brand new to the souls series, i've played all 3 but never beat any cause im terrible. subscribed because of that amazing camera and editing!

I use friedas scythe through the entire game, like fighting bosses, pvp and even regular enemy's and I absolutely love it! The first weapon art with dual light attacks are so much fun to use, great for crowd control,(like facing 3 people at once) and can absolutely wreck any one! I don't usualy use the second weapon art because I don't have alot of Magika but it's perfect to use when fighting rush enemys, slow enemy's and it help me get some elbow room when I need a take a breath. The hyper armor is very appreciated when fighting enemies, some times I would sacrifice large amount of health just to get the upper hand and most times it works thx to me not getting stun. All in all I give this scythe 100/10 for its fun using and great pvp weapon(my opinion) and I see the comments about the parrying. To be honest I rarely get parryed when I use this scythe. Don't get me wrong I got parryed a good couple times using it on my first couple trys but the more you use it the more you can change move sets to predict enemy's and change moves to get them off guard. Now when I use I mostly pay attention to the enemy's armor and weapons then think about how I fight. If some 1 was to have a shield I would know they probably want to party me so I use different weapon arts and try to mix them as best as I can which actually works most times again I think scythe is 100/10

Pvp in the boss room? How its possible? 13:18 and 15:10

If you're part of the mad covenant, you can help or hinder the host, this includes being able to help with bosses, and while in said boss room, friendly fire still being active between host and mad summon. Therefore "Boss room invasions" are possible.

the repost backstab animation is like that because everyone in ds 1 saw the greatsythe and thought wow that is ridiculous it stabs through their chest, it was changed in ds2 and everyone was dissapointed.

Freides scythe's sweet spot mechanic is also different. It deals normal damage if you don't hit the sweet spot and extra if you do.

I know youre a pvper, but like wheres the Bloodborne playthrough vids at fam?

What's the best scythe? The Burial Blade. I know this is DS3 but the answer is still Burial Blade.

Corvian has been my go to weapon since release. I personally find the self-inflicted bleed completely negligible in PvP. The only time I find it to be a problem is when I'm fighting a large group of enemies all at once, like Deacons. The self-bleed is procced once for every contact with an enemy, so hitting a lot of enemies at once builds it up really quick. Other than that though I still think it's better than the regular Great Scythe and the Pontiff Knight Scythe, at least for PvP. As for Friede's, I can't really say whether or not it contends with Corvian, as I haven't encountered any players who are good with the weapon. All the Friede's users I've encountered just spam the weapon art move set like I'm just gonna walk into it. I do think that if you're clever with the timing you could make good use of its hyper-armor, but as of right now I still can't say I think it's better than Corvian.

Scythes were used in Poland in XVIII cent., by sodiers-farmers but they remodelled them and attach blade pointing up, they were Kosynierzy, scythe-warriors.

I'm a big scythe user myself. I used a Great Corvian Scythe for a while and I have one with every elemental infusion, plus Simple and then Refined. I even wielded it with the Pontiff Scythe in my off hand for style. Even running around with it and killing groups with it, it's never proc'd bleed on me or ever been an issue. The bleed meter even goes down pretty fast. I don't even think I've filled the meter 1/3 or 1/4 of the way. But upon getting Friede's Great Scythe, I switched to that because I love the moveset and its total AR even beats a Chaos/Dark Corvian Scythe at max possible damage.

Am i the only one who notices he's using Final Fantasy Battle music.... XDD

I PvP at SL 99 (pure Dex) and never have seen friedes scythes at all :D

I know you're likely doing all the best *weapon class* videos next, but I want to suggest that you'd do "Best one-shot weapons" -video too! :) I've seen many builds with different weapons (mainly Yhorm, crow talons, sellsword twinblades...). It doesn't matter if it becomes one-shot weapon at only low levels, but it'd be cool video to see your evaluation of the effectiveness :)

Also if you do a best spear video, will you include the pike/lance weapons? I think the Lothric Knight Long Spear would be a pretty good contender against some of the better regular spears.

The pontiff's scythe can use the buff animation to insta-frost most enemies and just two uses will usually frost a player even at their best resistance values.

@@thereprehensible435 I made a build that uses all 3 status effects. First poison them, then easy frostbite with whatever, then just bleed their asses until victory. If they get rid of one of the effects, reapply until desired result.

Pontiff Knight Scyth is great for Dex/Magic or Dex/Faith builds. Since you will want your caster weapon ready.
