The Run Testers the only downside to the Aftershokz Trek is that, unlike the Jaybirds Tarah (I have the cheaper Tarah and not the Pro version) and other headphones, they don’t automatically shut down when not in use, as I discovered when I forgot to turn them off and do if they were still on the next morning 🤦‍♀️ Question: what about the Sony truly wireless earphones (the WF 1000XM3 model)? How do they compare to the Vista and 75t?

@@nollys8523 Hey I've been doing a lot of research into Buds and I've got to say these guys have done one of the best running specific reviews I've seen. The Sony true wireless earbuds don't have any water rating, people say they've used them at the gym etc but personally I wouldn't want to risk it with the price of them and everything. From what I've read, they're possibly one of the best sounding out there except for maybe the Sennheiser Momentums but for running true wireless, at least for me, ~£150 it's the Vistas vs the 75Ts. I'm very interested in trying some Aftershokz but for the price point I've heard they're mostly better for spoken word and as I'm not a racer I'd rather see how I get on with some others, for now.

Loved the Jaybird X2. Lasted for years, even put them through the washing machine a couple of times. In the past 18 months I have had 2 pairs of tarah pro and a pair of X4. Jaybird customer service is awesome!! After the tarah pros died I got a new pair sent out immediately no questions asked. When they died I was out of warranty but they still sent me out the X4's. Unfortunately they also have battery issues - turn off and cant turn back on without reconnecting to the charging cradle. Gotta find a new brand - thanks for the review!!!!

Amazing review gents much appreciated. To all my female out there, I have tiny ears and having a hook is must. I tried the Jabra elite actives 75t and they didn't sit well and constantly fell out. My dad has small ears as well (larger than mine) and they still fell out for him. I plan to return them and get the jaybirds since they have a hook, we'll see how they go.

Glad it was useful. And that's a really valid point. The extra ear hooks do make a big difference for fit on some ears (that aren't big jugs like all the Run Testers'!) and it's crucial to choose the right size buds too.

I'm using a Naenka Lite Pro headset recently. It uses a Qualcomm 3040 chip and 5.2 Bluetooth. It can last for seven hours in a single battery life. Every point is worth showing off. Not only that, it only costs 59.9 US dollars. Said it is a very cost-effective headset.

The Tarah pros have some significant issues that reviewers don't talk about. Reviewers only have the headphones for a week or so then make a judgement. I cannot afford $150 headphones every few months. That is the issue with the Tarah pros, they dont last long. I have had warranty replace them 3 times for the rubber coming off the controls, the charge light never turning off even when powered down, and somehow over charging them the first day I had them, battery life after that was less than one min on full charge. They are great otherwise. Now that logitech bought jaybird, you wont get any customer support for them, I honestly think that Logitech forgot they bought jaybird and simply dont give a shit.

Hi, (Kieran here), really interested to hear about your issue with the Tarahs. I know Nick and myself still run with ours and haven't had problems - that's after many, many months. But you're the second person to comment on this and so it's clearly something of an issue.

@@TheRunTesters It's a well known issue that the rubber cover of the control unit expands and shrinks, with that gets loose and this means they break due to moisture shortening everything out. I have had 3 Jaybird X3s, and Jaybird Tarah pro. I loved them all but the durability is incredibly bad. I don't want to pay 150 bucks to even wonder if they will break again. The sensation alone is a deal breaker. It's like having a phone that can die at any time. Who would buy that? Jaybird customer service is appalling too. They take weeks to reply or they don't even bother. They pass you to other staff and request to each time describe everything from scracth anb answer the same dumb questions that make you feel like you're doing wrong. I want to give their VISTA a try but worried I will be let down again.

I enjoy the sound, build quality for my Jaybirds. Do plyometrics, weightlifting, basketball, swimming and running in them. When running you need to keep the volume low for pedestrians and cyclist because you can not hear the environment. You can only run with bone conductors in the UK. Must be a scheme to sell those things. I will look into a pair because I need to have outside noise too.

  • @TheRunTesters

Hi Rex, not sure where you saw that about the UK and bone conductors but it's definitely not the case. Apart from some races where the bone conductors are allowed and normal headphones not. But if you are in the market for some, we've got two vids that might help. This one looking at the best Aftershokz kzread.info/dash/bejne/hqx7r7itgJS6qrw.html and there's another one looking at a cheaper alternative kzread.info/dash/bejne/hmGumJSkaJy8eps.html.

Rex Maverick I ran a half marathon and a few other races in a pair of Plantronics Backbeat Fit, so it’s not quite true that in the UK you can only run in bone conducting headphones. Having said that, I got a pair of Aftershokz when I found my Jaybirds blocked out more sound when I was out and about than the Plantronics. The Jaybirds are perfect for the gym though.

Hi Dan, Kieran here, if you're looking for something cheaper because you don't want to invest in lots of expensive kit at this stage in your running, then I think it's worth watching our section on the headphones under £100 and the Lypertek Tevi could do a good job. They'll also perform decently for when you're not running - at least for the price. I also think perhaps the Plantronics BackBeat Fit with ear hooks could be worth a look if you want a little more fit security without splashing out big bucks. Finally, if you're considering safety as you get used to running, then the AferShokz we recommend here in the Best for race-friendly safety (budget sub £100) section are also worth considering. Hope that helps and let us know what you end up choosing. All the best with your running.

Hey, I've been doing a lot of research into earbuds looking for my perfect pair and also have a OnePlus. The Bullets Wireless Z seem to be decent for the price but they don't have any waterproofing confirmed so it depends on how much you sweat and if you want to run in the rain or not. At £50 I wouldn't expect the best audio or build quality ever, but I think they're competitive compared to other buds in the price range.

  • @raidwolf4088

I’ve owned the Bullets Z for several months now and have done lots of 5k’s in them. I had them paired to 2 different phones and the switch button stopped working. The volume buttons work intermittently and the play/pause button stopped working as well. It still charges and plays audio, but if I want to switch devices, I have to do it manually and control the audio through the phone. I do NOT recommend these earbuds for working out/running. Hope this helps.
