Ty is absolutely incredible. His facility is indescribable. You have to see it in person because you can’t sufficiently describe it to someone. He didn’t know me at all yet made me feel like we were friends. I’m so sorry I couldn’t make Turtle Fest. 🐢❤️🐢

Watching your pure joy at seeing these magnificent animals is so wonderful. I've always loved turtles and tortoises. We had a couple of turtles as a child that my mom rescued from a dissection lab. I also had a red eared slider down the road. Now, knowing so much more about them, unless I could really create an environment that they could thrive in, I would not want to take in any animal. Thank you for what you do, for caring for them, and for educating people. These animals are so much more than most people realize.

LOVE that Florida softshell turtle! (19:35) S/he looks like the sports car version of a snapping turtle - sleek, sassy and speedy. If you asked me what my favorite turtle was - with no experience whatsoever to guide me - I would immediately say the spotted turtle. I don't know what it is about them, but my heart melts every time you show one. Whether they have a few spots or spots everywhere, it doesn't matter, they're just gorgeous.
What an amazing facility, and wonderful animals. Super people with great goals in common. Way to go, you folks have come so far.🖤🇨🇦

I'm surprised you did not bring Otis! I had a blue Iguana named Deleney. She was neglected and aggressive and missing toes per no nail clipping, burns from heat lamp. I rehabbed her into a sweetheart, aquiring painful whacks, then passed her on. I put her on a leash and walked her and all. Thanks for what you do!
Our yellow streaked head turtle came to us from my daughter's fifth grade class at the end of school. That was the same year our famous butterfly museum opened and ex worked there. They have a gorgeous lazy river so Lucky got a beautiful home. That was over 30 years ago, we still visit her. My daughter is almost 40 now. ❤❤❤

I understand Casey’s fear of escalators. I am now 73 and when I was around 5 my heel was caught in one…obviously that was before today’s more stringent safety rules. Took a chunk out of my heel…had to stop the escalator and remove my shoe to get me out of its clutches. My heart beats faster every time I get on one. Thank you for this video…being so disabled I can’t travel so video tours like this are lovely.

@@GardenStateTortoise You'd be scared, too, if you saw the very gruesome footage of an Asian woman (I think she was Chinese, but I'm no longer sure) getting swallowed and dissembled into bits as a part of the escalator malfunctioned and she just had enough time and instinct to set her toddler down before her, as she got dragged in, to save the child's live. An absolutely tragic real life case. 😱 After seeing that video, I've never been the same about escalators. I can still use them but I'm holding on to the railing with my hands turning white and with my muscles ready to jump up if I notice any instability. And if I can avoid them, then I do!
Honestly, I saw a horrific accident on an escalator at the mall once as a kid and I will never forget it. Definitely not an irrational fear when you see what falling on one of those things can do. I still use them but I get it!
A fear of escalators is not entirely irrational. Escalators can cause grave bodily injury and even, albeit rarely, death.

I was trying to find a video on shell care but there’s not many that explain enough, I know you’ve talked about moister for shells but I would like a deep drive and care routine for tortoise shells also a care routine for if a shell, chips, cracks, gets shell rot, stars pyramiding or soft shelling. My tortoises shell always looks dry and dirty so I was wondering how to keep them clean and shiny. My Greek tortoise has a chip right in the middle top of the shell and I can’t find any videos on whether I should patch it, leave it or medicate it. Thank you! 🐢

Ty's place is awesome. I am just curious though with all of those people there and going from cage to cage with shoes on if there isn't some bio-risks involved with the animals? I know tortoises and turtles are notoriously hearty though.
@GardenStateTortoise
Ай бұрын
It really is. I’m sure he wouldn’t allow the few of us who did that to do so without being confident of certain things. A similar case at our facility is we only go from enclosure to enclosure if the animals have been thoroughly tested over the years for those highly contagious Chelonian diseases. If it’s something questionable, we work with those animals last and wash up afterwards.

We’re is this located?
The best way to get ready over your fear of escalators is one Dont wear open toed shoes don't wear crocs don't wear open toed sandals don't wear high heels wear hiking boots steel toed hiking boots because escalators can't eat steel toad hiking boots they can't fit under the treads you know where it connects back to the floor again and you just have to remember to your spatial awareness and to step off before you get to the end and keep walking don't stop get off the escalator keep walking and move out of the way in cases somebody else in coming up behind you. and you'll get the hang of it soon enough sweetie and it could be worse things you're afraid of or have an irrational fear of or rational fear of what was the last time you heard of somebody getting stuck into an escalator either hurt or injured or killed as much as like the 1918 20s 1840s something like that I remember there was a one wooden escalator that was still in operation in Boston somewhere up until like the 1980s and once it broke down and the whole little wooden steps they just collapsed back into the escalator and like a few hundred people fell down the escalator and it was like a long escalator who are the longest ones in the world cause it goes way down deep and I've been on that escalator before didn't know about the accident this was like 100 years prior Because I use the escalator in the 1970s 1980s as a young kid young teen and when I found out it about afterwards I was like I tried taking this table once and I said screw that i'm taking this glitter for now and then they switched up the escalator made in more modern one that takes like 1/4 of the time to get up there so it's like a speed escalator so it does really cool and I've never heard anybody getting injured on that one Now you have to understand that when the person people got injured it was like right after it was built so they put in safeguards afterwards which they didn't know they need to put in and also so it's safe but they're a lot safer now than they used to be 120 years ago the first railroad station in Boston I think it was like 1880 something so it was soon thereafter that it was the blue line I believe it was the Maverick station i'm not positive i'm just trying to go off my own memory from years ago see the Maverick or State Street is one of the blue lines or green line mixed stops there's only four mixed stops aren't red orange blue blue green green orange or green red yeah green red but it's near those four stations And now they have elevators which are even scary cause they can get stuck in between the street and the platform and half the time there's little buzzers to say help don't work so let's saw somebody saw you go in and the oven to get stuck and does not come back down nobody knows you're in there so I don't really use an escalator than an elevator any day Which sucks because I can't anymore because I'm in a wheelchair so I have to use the elevator
I want to cone down next year in 2025!!
