Carl I recommend that you resize your webcam to the dimensions of the blocks in the game so that when someone makes a level for you they can make a perfect 3 x 3 gap to trap your webcam and point but also so you can neatly place your webcam :D

I'm not gonna lie, Carl, watching you have your stupid moments reminds me to be humble about my own stupid moments. It's okay, I can accept being stupid. Perhaps through 2022, we call all take a step back and recognize that we're all just a little bit more stupid than we give ourselves credit for sometimes. Here's hoping we all get to have a slightly less stupid new year this year.

While "puzzle" levels with basically no fail states are super satisfying, particularly for new players, the fact that they only allow for one action on each step makes them feel a little less like "puzzles" My favorite puzzles don't overwhelm you with too many options, but require some order of operations and ideally, failure teaches you something about how to succeed. When your options are so limited that you can only really do one thing, it doesn't feel as much like I've solved anything. I do want to say that it's super impressive to cheese and softlock proof a level.

I totally respect your opinion, I just humbly disagree. I think that the puzzle that focused on one small problem at a time felt more like a puzzle than the ones that's you can't think your way out of it you just try things until you just try random order of things until reaching the correct order without knowing if you're closer or not to the goal

A few days ago, after seeing your (now deleted) puzzle video, I was kinda confused by your critique of one of those puzzles (about the order of operations, or something). I wondered how else could you possibly design a one-screen puzzle. I think I get it now :D

Out of pure curiosity, regarding the first puzzle. You used Lonk to throw a bomb, then turned in to the pick up mario thingy powerup that I forget the name of to stand on said bomb. But moments before, you said that you can't drop a snowball without getting hit. Could you theoretically throw a bomb, turn in to big mario, pick up a snow ball and use the bomb to get hit and drop the snow ball? It'd probably be harder to do, but that was the idea I had in my head and the one I thought was the actual solution until you stood on the bomb. My brain kinda exploded when you thought of a different way to do it entirely, but I just want to know if my idea would have worked too!

As far as I know that should not work, because as soon as you get hit by that bomb in that scenario the player would automatically throw the snowball instead of dropping it. Even if they would drop it, the snowball hitting you would result into it being kicked away.

8:08 the bomb was obvious to me but I also didn't know the limitations that needed to be circumvented. A case of not knowing something is "impossible" which I think is one reason kids are so creative.

ok it was slightly dumb to not realize he could stand under there, but not as dumb as using a mechakoopa instead of just a galoomba and/or conveyer belts, and then having that unnecessary setup with the one-way? maybe it was de-cheese but it *was* visually unclear. Carl may be blind but if he can't tell where in the level he's allowed to stand then your design is messy

So the cannon in first puzzle shoot 1up. Didn't realize that until rewatching it

I like how in Carls world 500 seconds equals 5 minutes

you should continue playing baba is you, the game is frequently updated and there was a few new levels added to basegame recently! as well as a level editor, and two levelpacks a little over a month back

Doesn't like levels where you have to be quick and precise but likes levels that uses unknown techniques (that you cant know unless you are told)

Last puzzle, couldn't you just do the switch to free the laser koopa and then put it at the beginning, run to the door at the goal, and have it destroy the wiggler block?

I still don't understand what the point of the stump was. Edit: you had to crush it otherwise the snowball would get destroyed instead of rolling back down.

The stump would collide with the snowball that you throw up the slope. So you need to clear it out before getting the SMB2 mushroom.

. . . couldn't you just take a snowball through the door, use that to get your mechakoopa, get another snowball on the way to getting yoshi, use that to flip the switch, then just hop on yoshi and win?

@@Bobothefish13 but shooting a snowball at the block first from the side would make the Wiggler come out of them top and then the icicle would kill said Wiggler. It's not anywhere near the intended solution because it would require some quickness but I think it's possible.
