Did Y’all know you can cube the radishes and sautée them in bacon grease or real butter with onions, bell pepper and anything else you like, then throw in the radish greens long enough to wilt them... season w sea salt and pepper??? ... So excellent with a side of fresh yard eggs for breakfast or supper 😍

I follow a way of eating that taught me that. It’s delicious. I like to slice them pretty thin and roast them till they’re nice and crispy like potato chips and eat them like hash browns. 😋

Thanks for the video! I'm trying an intermediate day onion called Newberg again this year, even though I live in short day area, only I'm planting seed directly, and not pulling them up green and transplanting. I'll use some nitrogen sulfate on them at first to get them going good. It's bred to be a spicy onion, and somewhat dry. I pulled some in June (they were small) and still have them in the kitchen fit for using. Unfortunately, I haven't planted yet, and we're getting our first brief freeze next week. Also, we're due for flooding rains all winter long, so I'm not sure what to do. (I'm on TX Gulf Coast.) I do know I need to reposition my beds this year to capture more sun. I thought I might plant on Feb. 1, which would bring harvest in May, but then I have to contend with wind blowing my plants over every danged time come March. Someone told me that a secret to keep the onions maturing during wind is to cut off a green stalk at the bent portion, should it bend prematurely,, and, to make sure it's planted deep enough to where the white portion meets the green. I've tried everything else, might as well give it a go. I don't care if they're big, hunker onions, but would like them maybe 3" or so in diameter. All opinions welcomed.

I know this is an old video , but have you ever tried growing Egyptian Walking Onions , I am in South Texas and they are doing great , but will not top bulb until Spring as I planted in October , they are a true perennial as the top bulb falls over and starts a new plant and the entire onion is edible , just a suggestion .

Probably late winter, early spring. In Missouri, you'll want to plant "intermediate-day" varieties like Candy. If you scroll to the bottom of this page (hosstools.com/product/candy-onion/), you'll see a diagram that shows what types of onions you can grow based on lattitude.

I planted 100 yellow granex onion sets, the green growth is tall so I snipped the scapes back because we have our first frost Nov 13 here in Southeast MS zone 8a ... this is my first time to ever have a garden... my neighbor told me to clip them, so I did .... now I’m nervous - is this ok to do??? Btw I used basic Black garden slag fertilizer and some blood meal because I planted a lot of them in between cabbages - any extra advice???

Frost won't hurt them. They can withstand fairly cool temps. As long as you don't have prolonged periods below 20, they'll be fine. No need to trim them.

This year my corn came up beautifully. Laid it by with 34-0-0 when about knee high. It matured with not one ear on any stalk!!! I could see about 1 inch of the start of the ear in the whorls but it stopped there. Also there was very sparse tasselling to boot. This was Silver Queen corn which I've grown successfully for years. Any thoughts?

Big bulbs come from big leaves. You have to make sure you take advantage of that vegetative stage and feed them plenty of nitrogen and water to get lots of leaves.

If you live in an area that sees several consecutive days under 20 degrees, overwintering probably won't work for you. In that case, you'll have to wait until late winter/early spring.

Travis I just purchased a double wheel hoe and drip irrigation and I'm expecting my Dixondale Legends and Candy onions this week. I watched your recent video on planting onions and I want to also plant double rows. I don't think that you mentioned the row width that would allow double planting and then be able to run the wheel hoe down the middles to control weeds. Was it 30" or 36" rows that you laid the drip tape on?
