Hi, Very informative about Plex however I currently have an older QNAP TS-221 that does not support Plex so stuck with DLNA to stream to my Samsung QN90A TV. My biggest problem is I needed to create a new multimedia library as my QN90A Samsung TV just could not find sub folders in the main multimedia folder of videos. Now after a re-build the TV is quicker by 50% and at least sees them...still damn slow taking 35 sec to bring up the sub folders but at least they are coming up. However the time for the NAS to re-generate a fresh thumbnails of some 72,000 files it is so so slow, only decrementing # files by 1 file per 6 seconds. This is going to take around 5 days...a ridiculous wait time. Is the TS-464 also very slow at creating this quantity of thumbnails ? Is this a general QNAP issue on all their NAS servers or in fact all NAS servers of any brand in your experience? My 6TB HDD in the TS-221 QNAP is a WD60EFAX.

What's your opinion of the QTS OS? I've heard that QTS isn't as refined and intuitive as Synology DSM. I have a Synology 1813+ and I'm thinking of buying a NAS capable of transcoding for plex but Synology's current offerings are not great.

The feedback we've heard is DSM feels easier to use, but QTS allows users to do a lot more with their device because its more 'unlocked'. ts 464 works great with plex I've been using it for a year with out fail
