Not all peptides are created equal. Peptides are versatile ingredients that can have a variety of different cosmetic uses and different
benefits to the skin. Here's my quick guide on how to choose the best skincare peptide ingredients based on your skin goals.

Signal peptides are really where most of the data has shown to improve the visible appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Signal peptides as the name suggest are basically signaling your skin to create more collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans like HA and to decrease the breakdown of collagen. The most popular peptide for cosmetic use is MATRIXYL(brand name)/Palmitoyl Pentapeptide 4 and Matrixyl 3000 (palmitoyl tripeptide-1 and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7). These peptides restore and maintain the skin’s youthful appearance by signaling to cells to produce more collagen.
The products mentioned in the video containing these peptides for barrier repair are:
Rhode Skincare
Naturium Multipeptide Moisturizer myshlf.us/p-514317
E.L.F sleeping Mask myshlf.us/p-514318
The products mentioned in the video containing these peptides for anti-aging are:
Olay +Peptide 24 Products (Vitamin C/Retinol/Collagen)

Skinbetter Overnight Correcting Serum shop-links.co/173435541429497...
Neurotransmitter-inhibiting peptides - help reduce muscle movement for a ‘botox-like’ effect. These peptides have a smoothing effect on the look and feel of lines and wrinkles. These ingredients temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause expression lines to form in areas like the corners of the eyes, around the mouth and the forehead.
The Neuro-calming products mentioned in the video are:
Revision Line Relaxer 8 peptides myshlf.us/p-514320
Kiehls Retinol + peptides myshlf.us/p-514319
Rhode Glazing peptide serum
Enzyme inhibiting peptides are great for helping with hyperpigmentation and brightening the skin. Look for products with hydrolyzed rice protein that have pigment inhibiting properties.
The products mentioned in the video containing these peptides are:
Skinfix triple lipid barrier myshlf.us/p-514313
Elta MD PM Moisturizer myshlf.us/p-514311
Vichy Liftactiv Vit C + Peptide. myshlf.us/p-514312
The best-known carrier peptide is copper peptide, and you may have seen it highlighted as an ingredient in anti-aging creams. The most well studied peptide in this category is a tripeptide known as GHK or Copper peptide.
The products mentioned in the video containing these peptides are:
The Ordinary buffet + Copper Peptide. myshlf.us/p514310
Biossance Copper Peptide. myshlf.us/p-514309
Pigment inhibiting peptides like Tetrapeptide 30 and Nonapeptide-1 are great for helping with hyperpigmentation and brightening the skin.
The products mentioned in the video containing these peptides are:
Allies of Skin Mandelic Pigment Correcting Serum myshlf.us/p-514307
Eadem Cloud Cushion Brightening Moisturizer
myshlf.us/p-514308

Antimicrobial peptides - help prevent the growth of bacteria. These can be found in Bacitracin

I so much enjoy all of the information and the detail and breakdown of products. I am African American and just started using sunscreen in my 60s but still there is a difference in my skin from watching all of your videos. I live in Chicago and just started going to a Dermatologist. I wish I had started a good skin care regime in my 20s . I think all that we had was products like Brand names but never addressed Skin like mine. The big wake ⏰️ up was sunscreen and that we need to use it everyday. This journey has given me so much confidence.I am so proud you went in this field. God Bless

Thank you Dr. Stephens for yet another great segment. I am a little confused about the peptides you reviewed on hydrolyzed rice peptide and the tetrapeptide 30 and nonapeptide-1. I have hyperpigmentation primarily on my face and it appears nothing has worked. I am not sure if I should get a product from the rice peptide or nonapeptide-1 group. I thank you in advance for your response.

I usually used PCA SKIN now I’m using Cynthia Aesthetics products ( she also does my facials for rid of my acne ) located here in New York .. she’s a great skin aesthetician but always booked as she should. Nonetheless I’m ready to try new things in rotation with my CA products and wanted to know if PC is a good choice.. I have combination skin , and which under eye cream would you suggest? I was looking into Clarins.. thanks in advance for anything you suggest … love your page so far ❤️🥰

This video was great timing for me. I typically use peptides at night on the nights I use my tretinoin. I used to use peptides from a brand called Foxbrim but now that I’m getting older, I’m looking for brands that pack a bit of a punch. The Foxbrim cleanser and orange blossom toner are great for when I’m using my tretinoin but their peptide serums and moisturizers seem to be more suitable for a person in their 20s. I just started using a PCA peptide serum and skin fix moisturizer. I don’t have any wrinkles but so far my skin looks extra plump the next morning after using these new products along with my tretinoin of course.

When I look at the list of ingredients in the products you like, I see that they appear right in the middle of the list or towards the end, my question is can these products really be effective or is this another wrong marketing by the cosmetic companies? thanks (:
