Worked Retail. Gavin is completely right about being as concise as possible when calling up. It's not rude in the slightest. I hated when people would call up and add all sorts of extra fluff to a conversation. Get to the point so I can get off the phone and back to not working.

depends on where you're from and what type of person I believe. My friend works at pharmacy and I see it physically drain him being treated as a robot than a human. I have to help him after work to just remind him that he's a human. I think it matters how you talk to people.

I agree. Ask a question. Receive an answer. Conversation over. You aren't going to be best friends with the guy on the phone with the airline. It is better to get it done with an move on so they can help the next person. Its those fluff conversations that create lines at the store and having to be put on hold because a 2 minute question took 10 minutes.

"It's either always good, or always bad". The more I watch these compilations, it occurs to me Gavin is a genius who cannot properly express what he means, and Burnie is the village idiot but knows how to speak clearly. So just to break it down. Drinking water, is good. But if you drink too much, you get water toxemia, or water poisoning. Stuff isn't black or white. It can be every color of the rainbow.

I think Burnie's mentality is that he is thinking of the worst scenario, of over-reach and such, where as Gavin is thinking of the best scenario. As such, it is more on their perspective of what humans and machines can do, as Burnie is saying data can always be skewed but Gavin says if it is conclusive, it is conclusive.

  • @KaleidosXXI

@@alexcrossac456 Burnie's whole argument is that automated security surveillance is ubiquitously bad and doesn't help people because he doesn't like knowing he's being watched in public and there can be technical issues. That's such a blindingly stupid take to have and vehemently try and argue to defend, especially when he admits to having his own automated security surveillance, he's literally arguing that a security camera on his outer property is good but a camera on a street is bad.

For the wheels vs doors argument most people are missing office chairs, which have 10 wheels per chair. In an office building even if each employee has their own office they have many more wheels than doors, and most office buildings have cubicle and desk arrangements leading to almost no doors and potentially thousands of wheels

Like its a simple question that would take 10 seconds to ask and get an answer but now im here for like 10 plus minutes listening to what you did before talking to me. We have those automated speeding cameras here in Finland too, both van and static ones. The thing is, you're by law not obliged to rat out on your close relatives (i.e. father, brother, sister, mother, etc.) So, if they can not ID you through the windshield, you can say it was driven by a relative and you won't say who. They've apparently "spun" that to where the car driver is always responsible, but that failed because "You can not be accused for what is not proven." So, you flip the visor down, hide your face, state you didn't drive it, it was a relative, no ticket. :P

I can't believe Chris had worse luck with his flight than I did when I was unaccompanied at 14 years old going to Scotland from Canada. What a fuckin wild ass story.

I'm with Gavin on the whole "too much fluff" thing when talking to people. The point of language is to communicate efficiently. The most efficient way to communicate is to get to the point

Don't think about wheels on office chairs and doors in skyscrapers. A very easy way to realize there are way way way more doors than any wheels-- Every single house on the planet 100% has more doors than wheels inside of said house. Places where cars aren't as accessible (cities/3rd world countries) are filled with houses with doors on them. Doors take the cake 100%. And if you try to argue about cars, think of all the planes in the world who have multiple doors on them but only the three sets of wheels.

I love RT but that camera discussion around half way best encapsulates why I was always lukewarm in Burnie.
