sears was believed to be sabotaged and bought up by its former CEO eddie lampert, and he almost screwed people out of their pension. toysrus was bought out by a company that took on more debt than they could handle. kmart just didnt innovate/keep up with the times or theyd be like target. idk about the others but so many of these companies could have been fine with the right management

​@@naty_froggyIronically, that's not true. Toys R US became too expensive to warrant going. It was a place just for kids to chill and try everything out. But then their prices skyrocketed to reflect the economy around it and it collapsed.

Everyone get in the station wagon, we're going to Sears Roebuck.

I literally took sax classes in elementary because I love the sax in these department store songs lol. I feel so blessed to be born in a time where this vibe could be imprinted on me at a young age 😎

I usually don't like Sax but I have to make a big exception for in-genre examples like Club Med. Godly stuff.

So we used to have a SEARS at our local mall, it was pretty sick lol Unfortunately, mall life has died down even more than it was in the early 2010's, so.

11:40 Life in the 90s also gives me "Huge Wonder" Redd Kross, 1994 (from Phaseshifter) vibes. I highly recommend giving it a listen. I may use that for a vaporwave track too.

@@IRLVaporwave yeah the best one is track 4 to 5. Track 4 is much like the Leon take us outside and track 5 is like outside song from Bowie’s outside. Track 4 is deep. It makes you feel like you are time traveling.

Recently streamed this mix, it's lit. Like, playing in my car all the time. Literally every track is great. If i'm not mistaken, these are real "classic" Vaporwave tracks? Aside from the subgenres- i mean in the sense that these are almost all sounding quite as commercial/mall music (and almost all as 80s specific). A few tracks though in this mix are somewhat 'timeless' by Vaporwave standards - they 'fit' in both 80s and 90s (an accomplishment in itself, and i really love those kind of tracks). The ' ' are placed here because of the fact that Vaporwave once *started* as an somehow ironic mere *reflection* of 80s and 90s low key music, rather than a one on one *copy* of that, well not immediately, but quite soon after the beginnings of VW. So, again, in short my question is: could these songs could be considered classic VW, am i right?

Yes, yes, you are right about it all! Vaporwave is open to interpretation, but your take is pretty spot on. The mix is comprised of Mallsoft with classic vaporwave sprinkled in between. By the way, this is the longest comment I have ever received on one of my videos, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed assessment. More good content coming out. Stay tuned!
