Funny, it was a particular artist who reminded me of my love of electric swing. Didn't expect to find her old persona on this mix. Imagine my surprise as I sat there listening, thinking "Is that...?" and then reading the track list. TBH, I didn't realize she was doing music under that name. Now I'll have to see if I can find that backlist. Thanks!

Check out Demondice. Most of her stuff is swing or adjacent; and a lot of it has Japanese rap lyrics aside English bars. More recent stuff is more Japanese.

Japanese Electro Swing Hits different from Western one I usually listen too. Despite it being jazz, the songs are very energetic in contrast to the vibey and dreamy feel that western electro swing has. I like how it doesn't over repeat the lyrics thought out the entire song.

Fascinating, Japanese is a lot more melodic than I expected.

There was a period in Japanese history where the wealthy did nothing but indulge themselves in poetry, song, and the arts. People literally started talking to each other in poems in a weird game of creative one-upmanship. It eventually escalated to the point where government documents had to be written to a certain level of poetic style, or they would get rejected. This weirdness lasted for several HUNDRED years. So yeah, modern day Japanese is very melodic, even in causal conversation. A lot of it comes from what happened during that period.

Wow, found this gem on my search for French Electro Swing 😸 on a trip to France, jumping between Japanese and French music, I once realized that the sound is pretty similar and after a while I had to listen closely to distinguish them 🙀 sung Japanese is realy melodic
