  • @Nicktechnoo

    Weird question. This is the 5th video I've watched talking about x264 vs Nvidia's encoder but none of the videos can help me with my problem. I stream with a 2070 super, i7 10th gen CPU and I normally have NO issues what so ever running the nvidia encoder with quality setting and 4000 bitrate. However, with TWO games (only these two i've noted in the past year) have an issue where I get a max of 40 FPS while streaming. I even lower the in-game graphics to as low as it can go with no fix to this. The games are Apex Legends and HUNT: Showdown. Now again I can normally run games like Forza 4 at ULTRA specs and get easily 100+ FPS on stream without a stutter. But when I play these two games it all goes to shit. I tried switching my encoder to x264 and it FIXED the frames issue for both Apex Legends and HUNT....why is that? Shouldn't it be the other way around based on performance and the way you described the encoders in this video?

    If memory serves correctly you are on a single pc streaming set up right? I would say start by turning down in game settings! If you are still getting lag try disabling the preview in OBS to reduce encoding and rendering lag, and if both of those don’t fix the issue I would suggest dropping down in resolution! If you are already at 720p60 I would say it might be time to consider upgrading your streaming pc 😅

But when I stream using the either encoder my stream gets the skipped frames detected. Im currently play COD WARZONE and those graphics are set to low or disabled. Really not sure why im getting the skipped frames. The bitrate I normally use is 4500. Hi, on this setup if you would like to stream 1080p in 60fps, the NVEnc (new) it probably the best way to do it, with same settings shown at 16:00 in the video. If you prefer having a better quality, you can also choose to use processor with x264 in "faster" or even "fast" preset, but in 720P. The result will be probably a better quality overall, especially in high motion scenes, but the processor will have to work hard, so you need to check if your game remains stable and fast while encoding. You can try this with the recording option in OBS, before you stream in real :)

    Keyframe interval... what? What do you mean "two frames"? "The higher the keyframe interval, the clearer more frames will be"? Maybe I just don't understand, what you want to say, but the 2 there means you will have 1 keyframe in every 2 seconds. Higher number will result more rare keyframes, and the video quality will be worse.

    No, video quality will be better but at the cost of latency. More key frames is better quality because a keyframe is a non compressed frame that saves the full amount of data. If you are familiar with animation key framing it’s like the opposite of what’s called “tweens or tweening” where in animation tweening are the frames that are in between the good frames; tweens are the awkward drawings that bridge fluidity with distorted images to smoothen the viewing experience without having jarring transitions between frames. In this instance keyframe interval is almost the opposite in the sense of every keyframe interval is going to have one full frame of full data information to keep the quality up, but at the cost of time to spool up and make said keyframe. Hence why it would increase viewer latency but look better. But this is a small increase in fidelity at best when you are bitrate capped at 6mb (8MB for partners). There is no making up lack of bitrate, as uncompressed 1080p60 usually wants 60mb/s but with a medium x264 encoder speed you can record at 30mb/s and the compression between 60 to 30 is negligible. And even then, if you were to record at that rate KZread caps 1080p60 videos at 15mb/s on their internal ingestion rate too lol unfortunately we as creators will never get to broadcast true high quality 1080p60 do to bandwidth restrictions.

  • @RelakS__

    @RelakS__

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@P1xelPerfect I recorded now some videos. One thing is sure: The number in keyframe interval tells you, how seconds pass between two keyframes. You can set up 1-10 seconds. 1: Keyframe in every second. 10:Keyframe in every 10 seconds. I wanted to demonstrate this with low bitrate, but my settings resulted in so bad quality in every scenario that I can't decide which is better :D Twitch automatically sets up 2 seconds interval. At least, in one of my stream I measured that much. 1080p 60hz stream.

    Hi, it's not a bad setup, with this PC you probably want to use the NVEnc (new) encoder. So it'll let your processor available for your game. The best would be to copy the exact settings he's showing at 16:00 on the video. The bitrate at 6000kbps max, and only if your internet connexion has a high speed in upload. If you have a slow upload connexion, you can try a lower bitrate (half of your upload speed is probably a good choice).
