Why do you say the Milwaukee pack out case is better than the Systainers? I was contemplating Packouts because they are cheaper but when I looked at them in Home D. I was pretty disappointed.

I bought the Milwaukee and while it was expensive it’s like the crown jewel of all my fuel tools. Every time I use it I’m more impressed, the blade that comes with it leaves an incredibly clean cut. Paired with the little 3D printed plug & dust collection, it has to be the cleanest saw I have in the shop. Although, I wouldn’t be upset to have a festool like yours haha

Also, if you are pretty decent knowledgeable about epoxy stuff, could you do a video on thar sometime in the future? (Like the 'cheaper' 2 part epoxy like from Amazon versus the high end expensive stuff is there a big difference in them? Is there a big difference in the sand paper from expensive versus 'cheaper' brands? Sorry, I'm just getting into trying epoxy stuff and I have so many questions that I'd love to get an honest answer from someone trustworthy. )

I absolutely love my 36V Makita! If price weren't an issue, I'd likely go with the Milwaukee. It has a couple more features and I like the Milwaukee ecosystem, but I've used mine pretty hard for a few years and have zero complaints (for a few hundred cheaper). I could see maybe suggesting some upgrades to Makita though. The design is getting a little long in the teeth.

Did you test any corded ones? That usually saves some money if you don't already have the batteries and I don't think I'll ever need one when I'm not near an outlet with an extension cord. Obviously cordless is a nice convenience, but if you already have the vacuum hooked up anyway, the power cord doesn't seem like a big deal.

Hi Matt. Thank you for your review of plunge/ track saws. I would like to see a review of the Festool TSV and TS 60 track saws. Will the ts 60 used with the 2mm or so scoring cut first , do just the same as the tsv saw with the scoring blade? What do you think of these saws compared to the Milwaukee? What do you see and feel using the Milwaukee rail compared with the festool rail? These rails are different in weight and section. Keep striving for the profit that comes from doing and using the words and ways of Jesus

    @bdm1000Ай бұрын

Good list, and I like your shirt! Here's my two cents. I bought the Milwaukee over Festool because of Makita. Makita doesn't feel it's necessary to give anti-kickback protection or even a riving knife, and their track saws are highly rated and they have been around for many years (going back to the first decade of this century). What does that tell you? Kickback is very rare and usually the product of someone doing something wrong. That said, I have a Sawstop table saw because I am not above making a mistake-but this was my final reasoning: When you have a properly designed riving knife, you likely will never experience kickback. But if you don't have one, you may experience it, even if it is rare. But the newer Festools-lacking a riving knife-do NOTHING to PREVENT kickback (they can only mitigate the dangers of kickback to the operator, the tool and the work after it happens. That makes little sense to me. If Festool included both a riving knife and an electronic kickback system (since they don't operate on the same plane), it would be superior to having a riving knife alone (or nothing at all). But because the newer Festool track saws cannot prevent kickback, I believe it is a wash between the Milwaukee and the Festool (statistically). I really wanted a Festool, but when I priced out all the accessories, I am saving hundreds of dollars with the Milwaukee platform when considering the cost of additional guide rails, adding/replacing batteries, replacing blades and most accessories. Believe it or not, Festool thinned out the blade to give their saws more power and better dust control (as there is less wood & dust to contend with a thinner blade). What most people don't realize, however, is that Milwaukee's blade is even thinner than the newer Festools, and they still work without deflection. The only real downsides to the Milwaukee saw [for me anyway] are perfectly solvable... First, I'm on the DeWALT Flexvolt platform, but I did not like their saw and was awaiting to buy a Festool until I figured some things out (which I'll get to momentarily). Given the pros of both the Milwaukee and the Festool, it was worthwhile jumping platforms. And I have changed my mind about sticking with only one as it doesn't make as much sense as everyone says because you don't want to use just any battery within a given system. I am not exactly putting a 9 ah battery on my multitool, for example. Instead, I prefer having a preferred battery system along with some other battery systems which allows me to both still save at least some money yet have the flexibility to get the best tools for me (which-in my experience-are never found in any one brand's assortment). Second, I did not like the Packout storage system. It is just way too big & bulky (even if it is very well constructed). So what I did was get the "tool only" and buy the battery and charger new on Amazon at a much lower price than was available otherwise. Yes, initially Amazon sent me a previously returned charger, but I sent it back and got a factory sealed replacement at no extra cost the second time around (and the battery was brand new to begin with). This is important because the money I saved allowed me to buy a systainer from Toolnut.com. After I bought everything that would have come in the kit, I managed to actually save a few dollars over Home Depot's price. More importantly, I selected the next systainer size down which fits the saw perfectly once you buy the padding for the top and bottom. In other words, the smaller systainer (M 337) closes and provides the perfect friction fit holding the saw snugly. It's not that the Milwaukee isn't as tall as the Festool; Festool systainer molding holds the saw at an angle so they can fit other accessories. With the Milwaukee, I can still get my batter and charger in the case as well as my TSO guide rail square. The only disadvantage with saving the money and going Milwaukee was with the TSO parallel guide system (but it is a very minor one). The Milwaukee system works perfectly fine with the parallel guide system, but the connectors must be the "slide-on" style rather than the friction fit "drop on" style. This is NOT a big deal, but I admit it would have been nice to use the drop on versions that only work with Festool and Triton track saws. Because it is not the drop on variety, setup requires sliding the connector on and tightening screws. It's not a big deal, and if you use two guide rail squares instead of the TPG adaptors it is an absolute non-issue, but that is nonetheless a slight inconvenience unless you have the coin to buy a second square. That said, the scoring system you pointed out is convenient, and a major advantage of the Milwaukee over the Festool TSC 55 K in my opinion is that it is only one battery. Again, by thinning the blade, Milwaukee was able to get similar power out of their saw as the Festool (and arguably more than the Makita 40v). No, the Milwaukee is not as pretty in my opinion as the Festool (or even my yellow and black DeWALT tools), but it is a darn fine track saw that, depending on your needs, is virtually just as good as the Festool if you are buying a saw other than one that is for your existing platform. Like I said, I saved HUNDREDS (plural) over buying a Festool both in the short and long-term. Don't get me wrong, I like Festool and that's what I choose for a few corded products, but for the tracksaw, I am a big Milwaukee fan. I admit, I MIGHT have gone with the Festool even with the second battery if cost wasn't an issue, but I could not justify it after researching the Milwaukee.

A lot of people say Ridgid has to be neutered by TTI so it won't compete with Milwaukee and they can maintain their "good, better, best" statuses. The Ridgid having a proprietary track is so extremely stupid and definitely gives some credibility to this hypothesis. Anyways, glad I'm team red for tools and lime green for gimmicks.

As I mentioned to Ryobi after they released that dual 40 battery belt they need to do the same with their 18 line except maybe have it in 3 or 4 battery line. This way you can run their line complete through most jobs before running out of power. Also I don't understand why they can't make all of their battery powered tools with plug in also. To many one use tools and without either option I just mentioned you have to keep having to recharge or stop and grab another battery. The battery plug in option is already on some Ryobi products. IMHO Great reviews coming from your site and they are very helpful for those that don't have the money to waste on products that only work somewhat.

I personally don't like saws that won't slide backwards due to the anti kickback features. I use to use the scribe feature on laminate and melamine surfaced materials, but would do the scribe cut backwards and then full depth forward. Makita gave perfect results every time.

It's just a little hilarious that a Not-A-Track-Saw Milescraft beats out Ryobi and Skil. I like that "value" is taken into consideration in your assessment in these comparisons. Milescraft makes some really solid stuff for not a ton of money, and I really appreciate their approach to woodworking problem-solving.

Stating blade size and cut depth would have been useful. I see most of theses saws use 6.5" blades. I wouldn't mind seeing a battery/corded 7.25" blade comparison. Personally, I'm looking for a corded track saw with a 7.25 or bigger blade.

it would be nice to include reviews of the actual tracks themselves as some designs are far better than others, such as the Dewalt rails that connect poorly with their simple bar design that doesnt hold the tracks straight when connected together, some other brands that use cam type flat bars or others with 2 bars that are much more rigid than the dewalt one.

I love the Milwaukee I own it myself. And the pack out is the best I’ve ever used. And I’ve use Makita and festool I like the Milwaukee more because of their pack out system. But the saw itself blow Makita out by far. By the way Milwaukee motor shut down n brakes right away if trigger release. So it does have anti kick back

I can change my blade on my Festool in about 15 seconds. Flip a lever, plunge, change blade. As a matter of fact Ive started switching over to Festool slowly on most my tools. Because all the little things that take time or piss me off festools fixed. That’s why they’re expensive. And time is my money.

The skil saw is the same as the flex Inline saw basically. I'd buy the flex saw and the miles craft if that's the route you want to go. The skil modified plate might have issues working with the mill craft.

I was looking up track saws the other day and noticed Grizzly makes a chorded track saw that comes with THREE 36 inch long tracks for $220 and I don't know why for the life of me more people aren't talking about that. That's cheaper than almost any other track saw kit I've seen.

Joining tracks straight is a huge pain in the ass, and I've done it with 2 118", 2 55" a 6 foot Stabila, etc. The longer reference lengths help but can't imagine the smaller 36". The joint is weak, and precarious when moving the track on and off pieces to cut. At 36" you are guaranteeing a joint for most cuts since the saw needs a bit of track overhang. A single 55" track does 90% of my cuts. Also, that's ignoring the likely shit quality of the tool itself. Personally, I would go with(and went) with the Makita/Festool track. Festools are cabinet makers tools, precise and lovely to use. That said the Makita platform can do it all. The sheer range of saws Makita offers that integrate with the track are also vastly superior to Milwaukee. In addition to the plunge saw, I have a 10 1/4 Makita that makes ripping 12/4 Sapele a breeze.

Edit: Not saying for anyone not to try it, just that from the looks, its worth doing a little extra research on.

I'm just saying, for $220, its the cheapest option. It was my assumption that the tool would be fairly decent since grizzly is a pretty big name in the wood working game. Either way, it seems like a decent budget option if that's what's within your price range

When it comes to Track Saws, there certainly appears to be something for just about everyone, though they may need to venture off their current battery platforms to acquire it.😎. I haven't gotten to the point of needing a dedicated track saw yet, I prefer to stick with the Kreg Universal Track and my available circular saw.
