Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2dAercv
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2dUWP8h
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post - amzn.to/2e2AVVt
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2dFuPZg
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2dApDpp
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2fzEYE1

In my opinion, the most important films are the ones that grab your attention from start to finish. Those are the ones that you should study. You become entranced by what's being displayed on the screen in front of you and you keep thinking about it after you've watched it and you keep watching them whenever they happen to be playing on tv.

I'd go with names, not films: Keaton, Lloyd, Lubitsch, Jerry Lewis (or Frank Tashlin), Ozu, Malle, Kramer, Truffaut, Resnais, (early) Godard, Leone, Lumet, Ray, and Bergman. Fassbender if you're feeling game. Lean if you have ambitions. For modern: P.T. Anderson, (early) Malick, (early) Spielberg, Jeff Nichols, Chandoor, Kelly Reichardt, Carruth, Carpenter, Fincher, Kieslowski, Cuaron, and Del Toro. Inarritu is a bit too distinct to study without ripping off. The only titles I'd add are DIE HARD and the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. Absolute masterpieces of everything that makes film work.

I would add a British comedy TV series called "Garth Marenghi's Dark Place" (I know it's not a movie, but...). They made a point of brilliantly violating every rule of production - but you 'feel' why it's wrong (the brilliant part). In a 22 minute episode, you see why framing is the way it is, you see stage direction gone horribly wrong, dialog that's painful, etc. Richard Ayoade directed it - he's amazing. If you want to be a musician, you should be forced (by law) to watch Spinal Tap. If you want to work in film or TV, you should be forced (by law) to watch Garth Marenghi...

The current audience is out of touch with older and slower screenplays. The pace of a cartoon like Rick and Morty, or a Netflix show like Son's of Anarchy, or a y2k classic Battlestar Galatia are much faster paced and contain all the elements. Even a show like West Wing fits in this categorie. However, I dont think an under 35 viewer can relate to such old film makers works, old movies while great just dont make money!

Dear Mrs Gal Gadot, Mrs Patty Jenkins, The Academy Awards Board of Governors, and The Dolby Theater of Beverly Hills California, Hello from Jerusalem Israel. How are you all? I hope you have all had a awesome day. I am writing to tell you both thank you all so much for inspiring my life saving Mobileye Intel Jerusalem career and inspiring me to never give up to achieve my Academy Award winning dream. I will be twenty seven years old in Jerusalem this May 15th, and I use artificial intelligence and computer machine learning technology to daily save lives from car collisions. Wishing you all the best, Regards, Mr Jonathan Trauner You all inspire me Mrs Gal Gadot and Mrs Patty Jenkins and the Oscar Academy Awards to persevere and love myself unapologetically every single day and you all inspire me every day to become the first ever openly autistic Oscar Academy Award winner this April in 2021 in Beverly Hills Los Angeles California at Dolby Theater. I am proud to be who I am as a loving and empathetic human being without shame and compromise and my parents Mr Keith Trauner and Mrs Sara Trauner in Coconut Grove South Miami Florida live next door to Mr Alex Rodriguez and Mrs Jennifer Lopez. quinnews.com/wondrous-a-future-associated-press-published-story I authored a article on the film Wonder Woman 1984 which I finished watching in Jerusalem last week on Thursday and I passed on my article to both Mrs Gal Gadot and Mrs Patty Jenkins. WE ARE WONDROUS SUPERHEROES // How does the superhero fly when the superhero is needed most? // How does the superhero fly when the world needs heroes most? // My heart believes in the truth that every loving person has a soul. // My heart champions the message, everyone can be a light of hope. // Hope is what drives our human race to overcome limits and be heroic. // Hope is what pushes our human race to love and inspire who we love. // If you love who you are and what you do, you will make the world loving. // We are all superheroes when the world needs love and peacefulness most. // We are all superheroes when we look in the mirror and wake up every morning. // We are wondrous when we share love. When we love the world, we are heroic. Be persistent and never give up - Mrs. Gal Gadot.
