I was absolutely enthralled with the French movie The Five Devils especially the atmosphere as well as the karaoke scene.
Willem Defoe artfully losing his mind again, in INSIDE, is my favourite movie so far this year. Recommended.

Surprisingly - AIR was my favorite film this year . I never thought I’d say that 😂😂
PAST LIVES will be hard pressed to not be my favorite film this year. It is a masterpiece.

Congratulations on the Indiana Jones review count. Hopefully it leads to more exposure to your channel.

My eyes can't stop wondering to the back to front text on your books..
I'm from the UK, so my favourite movie of the year is "Tàr". Can't wait for Oppenheimer and Dead Reckoning
I really liked Past Lives, and very much hope to see your review of it, soon. I also thought Oppenheimer was extraordinary, and am really looking forward to seeing your review of that, as well.
My favourite so far is 'Are You There God...', not my usual jam, but it's an excellent example of that kinda movie.
Past Lives is a great film, Im looking forward for your review
I’d love to see you do a string of Wes Anderson reviews. I don’t recall seeing many here yet.
Sick of myself is great!review Sound of Freedom!
my favourite film of the year is this video.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM AND YOUR COMMENTARY
I am soooo waiting for you to review Smile! Especially with what you think of the ending. I find many horror movies of today build an insurmountable premise that they can't seem to conclude in a satisfying way. Smile in my opinion was different. It actually went for it. Though I had to think about it for a bit, I found the movie to be fearless in the reveal.
I would Like to hear your opinion on the Sound of Freedom film.
You should definitely see Beau is Afraid and Asteroid City again. Both work much better on second viewings, there’s a Tati quality to both in that there’s so much happening in the frame for a lot of the movie that it’s easy to miss things. I enjoyed Asteroid city so much the second time that it got me thinking that if it might very well be his best or at least my favorite. A third viewing would be required for me to assess that further but it’s interesting to see him take the idea of multiple framings to the story he’s telling one step further than he did in Budapest Hotel. The behind the scenes look at the play that we cut to throughout adds a lot more thematically than the cutaways to Jude Law do. I feel like you can really track his growth as a director with every new film, he learns from his experiments on the previous one and perfects those while incorporating something else that’s challenging to him. If you see Beau is Afraid again I think you should listen to some interviews with Aster about the structure. He talks about how the story is essentially 4 45 minute chapters and there’s something about just being prepared for that that helps the movie flow a little better or at least it did for me second time around. The first two chapters are so intense and anxiety inducing that upon initial viewing I think there’s just something off putting about how quiet and distant the third chunk feels from what we just saw; especially considering we’ve seen 90 minutes of movie already but it felt more welcome and enjoyable on second watch.
Hello, is there a chance of you taking a deep dive into South Korean movies ? I do not mean the mainstream known movies like "Parasite" (2019), "The Housemaid" (2010), "Oldboy" (2005), but movies like "My Sassy Girl" (2001), "Once Upon a Time in High School" (2004), "The Man from Nowhere" (2010), "Will You Be There" (2016), "Failan" (2001), etc. to name a few...

No Hard Feelings, most original film of 2023, for me. Well written, well acted and good direction. Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning was too long, but was OK.

What did you think of Ready or Not? It’s not a newer movie or anything like that, but I would love a review on it.
Looking forward to M3gan 2👧🏽. I am amazed that in 2023 we still have a human🧠 actor in a suit and not an actual android.🤖
So far there's nothing that I could say really blew me away. Bizarrely enough, "Transformers rise of the beast" was something that pleasantly surprised me. I think "Oppemheimer" will wipe the floor with everything else though
Past Lives I think you would LOVE! keep up the awesome content!
M3Gan was a wonderful piece of horror schlock - it was a great piece of social commentary and crowd pleasing pop-corn flick. The characters and the dynamic between the aunt and child was wonderfully explored. It was the first time a film has actually employed the "uncanny valley" to effect, rather than as unintended negative "Into the Spiderverse" was likewise a wonderful piece of media, making the tired multi-verse trope interesting and fresh again. Agree, a stunning piece of animation.

M3gan was predictable all the way up to the ending, within the first 10 minutes I knew the whole film. It was also generic and unoriginal. Haven't seen the Spiderman movie yet.
Could you review Hedwig and the Angry Inch? It’s one of my favorite movies!
The Empire Strikes Back had a great ending without being a cliffhanger but we still knew the series would continue.
"The Boston Strangler" was really good for me. I think it was streamed through Prime or Apple. Not sure.. Now I'm anticipating the release of "Killers of the Flower moon" in October.
Have you had a chance to see Past Lives yet? Would love to hear your thoughts
I have seen Mission: Impossible 7 yesterday. It's absolutely amazing! I recommend.
The movie calendar is practically divided like this: -January-April: DUMP MONTHS (with a few gems here and there) -May-July: SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER SEASON (but it seems as of lately Some studios are trying to get to the season early by releasing certain movies already in blockbuster mode) -August-September: DUMP MONTHS PART 2! -OCTOBER-DECEMBER: Oscar Season.
Watching M3gan on a plane, for free, seems like the optimal way to see it ;)
i reaaaally enjoyed asteroid city i agree with you i love how it slowly builds cuz i thought i was too stupid to understand what was happening but the small hints and things add up and after everything falls into place towards the end of act one it’s just so nice sitting back and letting the movie take you away i have a lot of friends who hated it but they’re big wes anderson fans and ive only seen a couple so maybe i didn’t have as huge expectations but still i was just really impressed. where they might have found it boring and stifling, i was the opposite i was smiling the whole time and almost felt the breeze in all the outside scenes. i know it’s a shame for wes and everyone involved that it’s already being released on vod so quickly especially after it was one of his better openings at the box office, but i’m kinda happy because it means i can rewatch in the comfort of my own home without spending another penny lol, i suspect i will enjoy it even more this time as i’ll know what’s happening and won’t be wracking my brain trying to understand the beginning!

Great video, I definitely wasn’t crazy about Beau, but I agree it’s interesting and has craft behind it if nothing else. My current top 10: 1. John Wick: Chapter 4 2. How to Blow Up a Pipeline 3. Master Gardener 4. The Covenant 5. Air 6. Polite Society 7. Sisu 8. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 9. Wrath of Becky 10. Scream 6 I definitely think the first half of the year was a bit weak, especially compared to last year. Though there’s Killers of the Flower Moon and Napoleon coming, so I can see this being a strong back half.

I've more or less given up on new content over the last few years so haven't really watched much. Perfect Days 6. May December 7. Four Daughters 8. Sorry. This one is under embargo. 8. When it melts (aka Het smelt) 9. Riddle of Fire 10. Midwives (aka Sages-femmes) 11. Tótem 12. I'd love to see Fancy Dance but it doesn't seem to be streaming anywhere. I've checked on it since i heard about it many months ago.
Couldn't catch Asteroid City in time. Guess I need to wait for it to rent, but I fully intend to see it. Just recently started to get into Wes Anderson's movies (I love Fantastic Mr. Fox), and I heard very interesting things about Asteroid City, so I'm looking forward to it. Haven't seen Beau Is Afraid or MEGAN, but it's on my list. Across the Spider-verse was excellent, flawed, but still top notch. Just wish it had a little more Peter Parker, but I suspect we'll get more with him in Beyond the Spider-verse next year. Spider-Gwen and Miles should stay as far away from each other and Peter's Gwem drama as possible in the comics, but the two are adorable together in the movies, so I'm rooting for them. Very likable characters, and that's coming from somebody who never really cared for Miles in a lot of his comics. I always enjoy Spidey 2099, so seeing Oscar Isaac play Miguel O'Hara was fantastic. I also always appreciate when storytellers are capable of taking nobody characters, in this case, Spot, and making them serious antagonists. The art styles going on in this movie are insanely gorgeous, and I'm here for it. The other movies from this year that I saw which I thought were very good are Creed 3, Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 (not perfect, but still genuinely very good imo), and John Wick Chapter 4. As far as action movies are concerned, it's probably one of my favorites and definitely competes with the original John Wick to be my favorite in the series.
The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan (French language) and Rye Lane (British romcom) are definitely worth your time and both in my top 10.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is hands down one of the greatest american action films of all time. Levitated in the theatre while basking in the stunts and the absolutely gorgeous cinematography

Sanctuary is probably my favorite this year as of now. Theatrically released this year.
Just watched Guardians of the galaxy 3 and it was a blast. As ridiculous as it sounds there is a scene between Rocket and an otter with robotic arms, a rabbit with metal spider legs and a walrus in a wheelchair that made me almost cry. I really enjoyed Megan, and fully agree with your assessment. I agree with @Anthonycheesman34 that John wick 4 was wonderfully entertaining, and a great way to finish the series. As a long term Wes Anderson fan I'm looking forward to watch Asteroid City. Again looking forward to Across the Spider Verse. And Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was so much more than I expected. The family was totally entertained.
The beasts best film of the year so far! Don’t know if it’s been released in the us yet but keep an eye out! It’s a Spanish/French thriller
It's been a really weak year. My favourites so far are Mal Viver (which, without any doubt, will be the best film of the year), Club Zero, Tiger Stripes, and Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell.

Polite society Only seen 19 of the new films but 2023 has been pretty lackluster so far granted I live in the UK so still waiting on a few films to come over. Still need to see infinity pool and beau is afraid. I'm not a huge cinephile so I judge movies based on how much i like them
M3gan was such a pleasant surprise. One of my favorites of the year as well. Asteroid City was a total let down for me. I got zero from the movie and was yawning like at the middle point of the movie hoping the movie would just end there. Like total two opposites.
Infinity Pool is the best film of 2023 imo
Guardians of the Galaxy, hands down, great Director and storytelling...... Otherwise I am stuck on Star Trek, and Jack Ryan right now.....
I have seen 3 movies that have come out this year, but have enjoyed all of them. Ranked: 1. Across the Spiderverse 2. Beau is Afraid 3. Inifinty Pool
John Wick: Chapter 4 but i also really liked m3gan.
Agree with Beau Is Afraid. It's a behemoth of surrealism, with astounding performances and filmmaking. But I stopped the film, early on, bc it nearly gave me a panic attack. And the end, while I understood it, left me cold. Yet I still haven't got it out of my head! Freakin' Ari Aster...
M3GAN is my favorite movie of the decade. (I'm partial to killer doll movies though)
Was trying hard to come up with some good films for 2023 and it is quite a hard task. "Air" is probably the only film I would watch again and made a lasting impression. Though Dungeon and Dragons:Honor Among Thieves is my pick for being the most surprisingly good film that you went in thinking it was going to be terrible trash.
@3TNT3

Just curious, if you went into Dungeons & Dragons, thinking it was going to be terrible trash, whyyy did you go see it, in the first place??? Do you like terrible trash??? Personally, if I have a good hunch that a movie is terrible trash, I completely avoid it and don't waste my time and money on it. Also, I'd much rather spend my very limited time, and money, on films that I have good reason to believe that they are excellent.

@@3TNT3 Several reasons. Sometimes you have nothing else to see and you want to go out so you have to pick something. Sometimes you take a chance on film not knowing if it will be good or bad. When I went to see Airplane in the theater I thought it would be bad but it was amazing. Though Honor Among Thieves did get better than we thought reviews. Plus when you're a DND and fantasy fan you go see movies of the genre you like. Red Sonja, Krull, Sword and the Sorcerer, Willow, Legend(love the canned ham villian) and Excalibur. So many good and bad in there but do love fantasy. I think Tarantino on his podcast(Video Archive Podcast- highly recommend) really loves his trash films from the 1970s,
