The Nikon Z50 is a decent little camera aswell. Shoots 4k has inside stability flip out screen all the way to selflessness mode. Built in electronic view finder. Still does great photos

Sorry bro but Z50 doesnt have IBIS it has only EIS ( electronic ).

The Z50/zfc is also another great pick for that budget. The AF is fast enough so you don't need to worry in most situations and you can always manual focus it. The image quality is great and the Dynamic range is also great. The ergos and build is also another plus since it's weather sealed too. DPreview even rated it higher than the a6400 in video recording and according to their 4 years old review, the z50 was held back by af issues and lack of lenses, both of which are 95% gone.

Fuji X-S10???

If you focus more on photography, nikon Z 50 is a hell of a camera. Excellent image quality, very comfortable grip, basically have it on me all the time

I am the owner of Sony ZV-E10. I managed to buy for 40000₽ ($450±) together with Sigma 16mm 1.4 and Sony 50mm 1.8. Photographing the aurora is comfortable, but still lacks stabilization. The camera itself is light but small. And with a cage and Sigma 16mm, it is quite heavy. I'm waiting for a new firmware update for ZV-E10

when size is trouble, change sigma 16mm with sony 11mm.

I would pick Sony if I were just starting out on mirrorless with budget because of their affordable 3rd party lens options.

Thoughts on the Sony 6600 vs the 6400 ? You keep recommending the 6400 however isn’t the 6600 also cheap? Why is the older 6400 still better for a recommendation?

Although the A6400 is almost identical to the ZV-E10, the A6400 is missing eye autofocus and electronic stabilization on video but that’s a trade off considering the A6400 is a photo first camera than can do video Unlike the ZV-E10 where it has eye autofocus for photo/video but missing an EVF and a pop up flash (which make sense considering it’s a video first camera that can do photos identical to the A6400)

I have an old film camera, I found in the addict of my house. It still works perfect, even better than modern cameras if you ask mee

Go used but always do your own research. Want light weight and compact size? Olympus or Lumix MFT has plenty good and cheap options which plenty for most beginner, slap in 45 1.8 and you get Bokeh monster. Learn how to use flash and you don't need those bigger size sensor for less noise. APSC? Go Fuji as you can have tons of fun with the jpeg engine and retro feel, also Sony doesn't care about a6xxx series anymore. FF? Now you have plenty of options, you won't be wrong choosing Sony, Nikon, or Canon, it'd be wrong only if you have specific requirements. Video? Go Lumix s5ii (or s5iix) as it really caters to videographer needs, e.g breathing corrected lens, 180 degree shutter, good ibis, etc.

I bought a Lumix G91 as my first DLSM last year. Only downside is the relative small variety of lenses, but to be honest: I got the G Vario 14-140 and I almost never need another of my lenses.

just bought an oly m5iii, 20mp, pdaf, ibis, 4k, oled evf, flip out screen, weather sealed body plus pro lens for less than 800 in 2024

pretty sure you could fit the X-T200 in there. maybe even the X-S10 (which has mechenical IBIS!)

Xt200 is probably the worst option possible I owned the xa7 and the lack of a flat profile hurts it , it also doesnt help that it lacks tracking and fhd is a paltry result while the 4k overheats and uses a 2.5mm jack

Search for the used market if you have a tight budget. maybe a6600 will get to the $800 within the year.

for beginner canon 200d or 250d is better than rebel t7. but canon 250d and R50 cann't use universal flash because hotshoe them is different

@@TomCalton I own the ZFC and the Af is useable and not as bad as people make it sound but it does struggle sometimes it’s like a 8/10 for me One thing to note that all three cameras z30,z50 and Zfc are essentially the same camera so it’s expected that they all perform the same. Nikon does release firmware updates to all their cameras regularly so maybe one day Nikon will improve the system’s overall performance

​@@alchapelI have the z50 and can confirm. It's a little beast and I feel it's more like Fujis and Lumix. Those cameras ask you take control manually over them to bring out their full potential.

Hmmmm surprised Nikon ain’t on the list, you can grab a Nikon z6 or even z5 for less than 1000 bucks and they take fantastic photos and it’s a full frame on a budget! Highly recommend the z6

Used Sony A6300 or 6100.

the r10 is insanely better than the r50 so I feel like you can spend a little more money and it will be worth it
