I do this but instead of a shovel I keep a emergency water bucket if I am exploring in case a mob knocks me into a ravine or off a cliff or something (3 and 4 keys are the easiest for me to hit and most blocks a shovel can be used on are easy enough to dig up with a fist)

Diamond blocks can spawn in 2 different rooms very rarely in woodland mansions, sticky pistons, redstone comparators and string can spawn in jungle temples, iron bars can spawn in either blacksmiths or igloo basements, target blocks, skeleton skulls and redstone lamps spawn in ancient city's, pots can spawn in witch huts, rooted dirt can spawn from azalea trees, oak signs I think spawn in spruce villages, normal sponges can't spawn naturally, wet sponges can in ocean monuments.

At 0:00, it's the sponge block. That is clearly a DRY sponge block which cannot spawn naturally. There are WET sponges in Ocean Monument sponge rooms, but DRY sponges don't generate naturally anywhere.

The sponge doesn’t spawn naturally. You might think you can find sponge in ocean monument but it have wet sponge not dry sponge. So dry sponge doesn’t generate naturally.
