Double hinged elbows, butterfly shoulder movement, double neck articulation, waist swivel, arm and leg swivel, double leg knee joint, articulated fingers, moving waist skirts..this set directly took the innovations Gunpla introduced and translated it to Lego. THIS should be the gold standard for future Lego mechs and constraction builds. They should also start introducing these articulation innovations in smaller scale. SCCBS is fine, but I want this level of movement at the palm of my hand, like how Gunpla do it. The price is fair, cause you are basically buying a large MG kit, with far more plastic.

The set is incredible from an articulation angle, and even stability. But this being the standard going forward for constraction and buildable figures is, imo, not a good move. Articulation to the degree that this has would be incredibly difficult in smaller sets, as this really only has it's level of movement *and* look because of it's size, since they can build out and around the joints. The smaller the set, the more compromises needed, whether in look or articulation. I feel it would make the play aspect weaker, which is a big point of SCCBS. Solid builds that can be mor easily played with without needed to finangle with all the articulation to get it steady and how you want it. An often cited point I've been seeing is that test groups of kids begin to struggle with a set the more articulation it has. I feel like constraction works best when it puts play first. Looking at my old Bionicle, G1 and G2, vs, say, the buildable Spider-man, and I think I prefer the more play heavy aspect over display. I can pose them if I want, but my kids can have fun with them too (and if I had more pieces, build their own and swap stuff around). I think for this set, the price point is fair, and again, plays into the "maybe not all mechs." Because the more they do for oher smaller mechs, they more they might increase the prices. If they do continue with big mechs like this for an older group. Part of the appeal, at least to me, of old Bionicle sets and these current smaller mechs (any of the $15-$20 ones) is that they're more affordable, making them easier to get into. A kid could oick them up, or a parent for a kid wihtout dropping a lot of money on a set, and they get a fun build that they can play with, swap bricks/tiles on for looks, etc. (Apparently Duckbricks pointed out that the designer said this was essentially a one-off, and not meant to be the standard of things).
The articulation for this mech is insane, I'm especially surprised by the inclusion of both thigh and bicep swivels. The only spot it seems to be lacking is with the forward ankle movement, but that's to be expected. It excels in every other area.

I'm so getting this set.
That mech is P E A K. It's a must buy, and its a shame that the ninja combo vehicle is 90 dollars out here! Tell me with a straight face that these two sets should have a ten dollar difference.
This is the first set I've ever pre-ordered. I need this yesterday!

you could have told me this was a moc and I would believe it
Love how this has the same wing design and weaponry as Lloyd’s titan mechs but it, but it looks so much better

It's too bad the guy that designed this won't be designing mechs anymore. Such a shame.

Thank you for your rewiew, I am especially thankfull for the comparison of the Titan Mechs. I am entirely in envy of the size and detail of this. I know 100$ are a lot in the real world, but in the Lego world, this is INSANE for a 100$ set. 10/10.
Maybe one day when my bonsai are mature enough I'll pose this mech with them. Looking forward to get this in my country!

The best Mech lego has ever released. I heard this is apparently only a one off set, hopefully the overwhelming feedback and desire for Builds like this will spark future sets like this
I've been so torn wether to get this or the source dragon. As a big Cole fan and a BIG mech fan, I can say, this thing is MINE!
It's kind of blocky and has a lot of studs showing, but on the other hand the articulation is insane. It's funny this coming after reports of Lego actually removing articulation from the Kai climber mech to "not confuse kids."
@davidbeer5015

From what It sounds like, the climber mech is more play focused, while this is more focused toward older fans that may be more into posing and displaying over normal play.
Mechs sure have come a long way in 20 years. From #4508 Titan Mech Designer Series to this! Excellent review btw. 👍

It is one of the weaker points. Most of the time it was fine for me, but I had it split there a couple of times while filming the reviews when I wasn't careful.
I feel like some of the budget could have gone into more figs. The wings maybe could have been omitted and it just be called Cole's Titan Mech.

A thing we get all the time are sets with multiple minifigs. What we don't dont get all the time is a fire mech that tops every single Lego mech in history.
