BEST MARIKINA EATS (Goto, Pandesal, and more!)
Marikina is famous for being the “Shoe Capital of the Philippines” and it is also known to have some of the best food finds in the city. We talked to the Marikenyos who built some of the most treasured culinary gems in their hometown to learn more about their history and the inspiration behind their signature dishes.
From the regional specialty Waknatoy, to the best bowls of goto, Marikina is an underrated food haven that should be on everyone’s bucket list. Did we mention that you can also find an OG panaderya in Marikina that’s been serving the softest pandesal since the 1950s? This is a food trip that you won’t forget, so stay with us until the end for the full list!

My family moved to Marikina when I was 16. I left the country when I was 27. Since our parents have both passed, we sold our family home last 2018. Returning to Marikina was so nostalgic. It has changed a lot from the time I remembered it. Watching this video took me to those familiar places I grew up going to with my mother (especially the Marikina public market). So wonderful to see Marikina being known for really good food. I look forward to checking out those restaurants/ shops next time I visit the Phillipines. I''ll always be a Marikeno at heart. Thank you for making this video.
Clever idea of Portia Baluyut to require a deposit when she was starting Rustic Mornings by Isabelo. Necessity really is the mother of invention. The owner of Pan de Amerikana saying "Ba't ka gumising ngayong umaga? The Lord has given you a reason." Words of wisdom indeed.
Thanks for featuring Marikina! 🙂 We have a lot more old restaurants that people love- Krung Thai, Moo Baan by Krung Thai, Marikina Bakeshop, Cafe Lidia, Burrito Brothers, Hidden Vietnam, etc. We also love our third-wave coffee shops, like Inarawan, Resonate, Ratio…
Wow! Rustic Mornings 🩷
I love every visit I make to Marikina!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS FEATR!!!❤😮🎉
Born and raised in Marikina but Marikina is not a small town :-)
I am born and raised in Marikina. Waknatoy, Everlasting and Laoya. Marikina specialties na nakalakihan namin ❤️ Try visiting Goto sa Garahe, Pares House, Comedor, Miguel and Maria, Luyong 😊

The curious thing about marikina specialties is that they have the same name as other recipes but they're different.

Yes, way to go Marikina. Cleanest city in the Metro!!
Good list! I need to try Ador’s. I am happy Ligaya’s Chicken is back!! My favorite hot pandesal is found in a few areas in Marikina- Genesis!!
Thank you for this! As a Marikeña ang saya makita na nafifiteature mga food stops here. Namiss kong kumain sa Rustic Mornings. 🥹
I was born in marikina and grown up there but after undoy storm lumipat na kami sa Antipolo but my heart still there lagi pag nauwi ng pinas lagi me pa rin nag pupunta sa marikina market don pa rin me na mamalengke then lakain ng goto 😊 I love marikina always in my heart 🇵🇭🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️

You also need to feature "Ka Maning" kutsinta and cafe Lydia's in Calumpang,Marikina.
sa food panalo na, what more pa sa city maintenance 🤗 Marikina ftw! (shout out with extra love to Rustic Mornings~ its the only place i get to go on a date with my mom then punta sa OLA church after)
Congrats Pan de Amerikana and Mr Jundio Salvador!
Thank you Featr for visiting again after your featr on the Pares House and Rocha’s with Erwan years ago! As a Marikeno since birth and my ancestors being natives of Marikina, 10000/10 agree on Marikenos loving to eat and having stories behind every dish! Also, I cannot stress it enough that in Marikina, the network of people is unmatched! Whether you meet them inside Marikina or probably at work outside Marikina, somehow, you will have a common ground or a Marikeno link that sometimes you’d be surprised, someone you met somewhere is a Marikeno cousin! Lol and everyone will be connected by “Angkans” to the point that Marikina actually held annual grand reunion event for all native Marikina clans decades ago at Marikina Sports Centre! EDIT: I actually found someone here in the comments section from the same clan I came from! My case in point 😂 Probably next time you visit, you can try Krung Thai, Johnny’s Fried Chicken, Qizia’s Cafe, Nanay Helen’s, Mang Frederick’s BBQ, Cafe Lidia, Marikina Bakeshop, Leo Seafood, Overeasy, Blake’s, Kusina ni Kambal, 61Orange, and Mama Ting’s Rellenong Bangus and Everlasting! Fun fact: Hungry Homie’s first pick up branch is in Marikina! 😊
The narrator's voice reminds me of the old living asia channel travel videos. Bagay sa mga ganitong theme. Great video as always! Go featr!
lagi akong dumadaan sa Marikina parang Manila.. laging hustle and busy laging trapik..
You must missed Tapsi ni Vivian and Czaczacza Cafe, their donuts are the best
May Goto Garahe and Fredericks BBQ pa diyan sa Bayan. Sayang lng tlga ni napag patuloy Legacy of Estela's Goto!
Deym. Nostalgic 🙌🏽
Yay, Marikina! 🫶🏼
Pinakamalinis na market na puntahan ko among all the cities in M.Manila

While the marikina public market building is definitely cleaner than most, it is too small to accommodate the needs of the citizens and that's why the marikina public market area was made. The market is not just the building, it extends backwards multiple city blocks until you reach sumulong highway. It's that extended area that's not quite up to the measure of cleanliness.
wow ang daming ✌️ummy dyan sa marikina😋😋
This makes me proud to be a Filipino 🎉

I grew up in Taguig btw.

Isabelo owner didn't know what she was talking about, maraming nauna nang restaurant sa Marikina bago pa ipanganak ang Jollibee, Yellow Cab, at Pancake House na sinasabi nya.
kamusta na kaya si aling rosi? di ko na nakikita and i hope shes all well
Pan de sal, but American, and the bag it’s packaged in has a Dutch windmill on it? 🤔

just because it's not true for you doesn't mean it doesn't reflect majority of the people in our city. Maybe try asking your lolo or lola, I'm sure when an older person's name is mentioned, they will know which clan you came from. That's also the reason why we celebrate angkan-angkan annually. I am so sorry that's your experience but mine isn't and I've lived in Marikina too for 3 decades just like you.
