Heyyyy there is again 💪. Really digging your channel man. My favorite little light is the Aputure AL-MC for its versatility and portability. The Youngnuos I bought after seeing your background video, love them! If I had to do it again, I'd buy the upgraded version with built in remote though.

That depends on what the main use of it would be. If you want something to be a key light than I’d recommend a softbox

Hey Ben, I am looking to get a pair of RGB lights to light a seamless backdrop from both sides. I don't have much space on either side of the backdrop to place the light (less than 1 foot of clearance). Which lights would you recommend in this case? It’s a balance of both just don’t go too high on the iso I typically try to set my iso around 100-400

G2 is brighter but personally I wouldn’t use either for that purpose Rgb is best used in background lighting unless going for some artistic music video type choices I’d check this out for your key: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oIKYrseYdZWYYps.html

The Raleno may be a bit better for a key light as its large and potentially a bit softer

Ben you did a review on the GVM lights and said you liked them, but you would mostly use them for background lights instead of "key lights"??? These are the lights I have and I really don't want to spend more for lights. I figure they could be okay to use to light a person, but i'm so new to lighting that I don't want to mess it up. Would doing the three point lighting help? What's the issue you found? Is it that it isn't diffused enough??? I'm just wondering what I can do to get the best performance and it really just feels like i'd be turning knobs at this point not knowing what im doing

Hey don’t worry Cali, they will be great for key lights. They aren’t as soft as my flapjack lights, which I prefer and why I wouldn’t use them, but they can still work very well for key and fill lights To make it even better, shine them through a sheet or diffuser :)

can you use the Yongnuo lights as key lights or should they just be used as fill, rim lights or to just add some RGB to the background?

I've seen some of your videos where you showcase smaller lights that are the size of a cell phone I usually will record sitting at my desk and I ideally want to position two lights on tripods on my desk facing me as key lights so considering that set up what are some good smaller key lights. I think you have them in your videos

@@benjohnsoncreative What do you think of two of these for my key lights On either side or can I use one on a 45 angle from me YONGNUO YN300 III LED Video Light with 5600k Color Temperatur I'll be sitting down on my deak, in my bedroom.. These will be placed on my desk pointing down at me or can be placed on the floor if there are any cast shadow issues with a tripod. Then I was going to buy the Yungnuo wand lights as my back light the ones you talked about One facing towards my wall to illuminate it with a purple color from the RGB spectrum and the other behind me to show separation between me and the background maybe a different color Then I also bought a lamp that has different colors. THat will be on a tall shelving unit behind me with a globe on it, my nunchucks and my BJJ belt and in the back will be a poster that says "A warrior saying" which I'm customizing. My channel's going to be a coaching channel for men. i will attach a led strip around it that's battery powered so I don't have to see wires to illuminate the edges Do you like this set up so far? Lastly, I saw the camera you use, it's over 1K. I bought a 4K webcam which looks stunning but in terms of mobile recording equipment is it okay to use a cell phone when I'm outside or even inside or my 4K webvcam or do you recommend an XLR pro camera ? If so, anyone that's a bit cheaper? Thanks
