I just now finished installing the same carrier. I put one on my JK last year and it's a little different than my JL. This was easier, I just wish I had adjusted from the most to least space between the tire and carrier. I tried it 3 times finally using the widest. LOL Was a lot of work manually tightening nylon lock nuts. SMH Freaking great video man! Yours is The best and clearest. I watched your video several timrs before I got into it.

Thanks for the tutorial, really helped me out with my install. Only hiccup I had was removing camera module from factory tire carrier, no fair that yours just popped out and I had to wail on mine with a hammer. Luckily camera still works. Love the solidness of rear door now.

After installing this rugged ridge tire kit carrier, did hear any rattling or clunking, vibration, or any sounds? Also when you open the tail gait door is it hard to open like stuck and feels like tire is heavy? Since your driving this tires carrier for a while how is it?

Yeah I’ve see that as well, they don’t serve much purpose besides keeping paint out of that pocket during assembly. I do plan to check the torque of those bolts periodically so didn’t see the need in keeping them from a functional standpoint, some people do get a little nervous when working on new Jeep’s and want to keep it as factory as possible. Thanks for watching.

Philip Charles Bolo I have this on my jl sport unlimited. Issues I've found are: Rust developing on the top of the hinge bolt heads. Also used Daystar tire bumps. There is a hole for the one needed on the rear driver's side, but for the rear passenger side, you may want to drill a hole at the approximate corresponding spot and then cut down both to fit. I think this is something that Rugged Ridge needs to address. Also, there really isn't any up or down adjustment, only in and out, or slant. Again, this is something that I think Rugged Ridge could fix. Hopefully, they'll come out with one that has these features, other than that, It's heavy duty and very well made.

Jared Monez mine didn’t have any noticeable gaps, you could add thin stick on foam strips if you’re worried about it. You will really like the hinge once it’s installed, helps a lot with heavy spares. Thanks for watching!
