▶️ We started our channel to inspire and share our world travel lifestyle, adventures, and optimistic outlook on life with others. After completing a two-year journey in our Airstream to see all 50 states and 51 National Parks, we left to travel abroad. We have downsized our possessions and sold our home so that we can wander about with only the things in our backpacks.
We love living on the road, traveling each week to a new location. We plan to travel extensively to every part of the world. Ours is not a slow travel lifestyle but rather a vagabondish one. The goal is not to check a country off a list, but to experience it by meeting new people, seeing how others live, and making new friends. We believe in laughing, loving, and living our lives to the fullest.
We are working hard to build a beautiful website where you can get travel information about the places we have been. In addition, we post blog articles to help you travel better. Our channel is a way of augmenting that effort, so sometimes we post videos about how to travel or a vlog showing our lives on the road as we do an activity or an adventure. We also post Shorts, so check those out, too. We hope to entertain you, but most importantly, we want to inspire you and give you the confidence to plan your own adventure around the world.

    Thank you for this. After going through the comments and your replies, I've seen the clearest explanation of how Google FI works with Airalo when one is concerned about 2FA while abroad. I use Google FI now while abroad, but in the near future I will be on my first extended trips (beyond 90 days) and I've done so much research on Google Voice, International phone plans, E-sims, etc. So confusing. Best wishes for your son and thank you for serving. Our daughter served in Japan for 2 years. I am curious about this because that’s what we thought about doing to get past the 3 month issue. Just like you said we would use my Google FI phone plan for the first 3 months and pause my husband’s plan, and then reactivate my husband’s after 3 months when my plan shuts down. However, the information on the Google FI site says you have to be in the country to reactivate the service (maybe it is just activating a new service).Was this not a problem for you? We will be out of the country for 6 months so it would be a perfect plan if it works.

    @@jimwicker2808yes I reactivated in the USA and it was no issue. I do have a friend that let us know that gFi was going to cancel or did? their phone/SMS a month later. This was just a few days ago. In preparation for this possibility, I just signed up for TextNow for free wifi call/text as they do work with 2fa for financial institutions. I have added my TextNow number successfully to BofA, Chase, and Capital 1. Haven't tried any others yet as they are the ones I frequent most.

I've been trying to port my number to Google Voice and use a similar global E-Sim but part of the google voice process says to get another number and service plan from your carrier for the first 90 days until your original mobile number can "actually can be used." I don't want another US mobile service plan to pay for. Crazy, any insights I'd appreciate.

    Which Google-Fi plan are you still on? The $65 a month one? It sounds like they cancelled your international data service twice. But to be clear, even though they cancelled your international data, your phone number still works with texting? Just the data part is shut down (so use Airalo for that?) Or are you now on a cheaper Google-Fi plan. Or are you on the most basic $50/month Google-Fi plan now? It looks like the $50/mo package doesn't include texting or calls, so curious what exactly you are using Google-Fi for internationally in relation to keeping your US number?

    When you use Airalo, you are using it just for roaming data correct? You don't need it for Wi-Fi that usage, right? So once you're 90 days has expired, you could have Wi-Fi data for browsing the internet and Google Fi phone and text while out and about. So we would not need Airalo unless we needed data while out and about away from a Wi-Fi spot, correct?

  • @RetirementTravelers

    @RetirementTravelers

    Жыл бұрын

    It’s confusing, so here’s how we do it. While our Goggle Fi works for phone, texting, and data roaming, once our 3.5 months abroad kicks in and we lose our Google Fi, we need data roaming to be able to use a map or search for a restaurant on the fly, away from a local WiFi. We use Airalo at that point for data roaming only. We get to keep our phone number for texting and calls for Google Fi. It continues to work for us. If we didn’t want roaming data and we’re okay with just using local WiFi, we wouldn’t need Airalo. You are correct. We just like having data roaming because we get lost a lot! 🤣😂

    The biggest question is - How can you possibly afford living in hotels? The typical European hotel costs 150 - 200 dollars per day. Same thing in Asia, unless you want to share a bathroom with the entire floor. That amounts to - 54,750 to 73,000 dollars per year. That's besides eating in restaurants every meal.
