    I feel this is so close to perfect. There's just two more things I want out of a product like this that would get me to buy: 1 - NFC payments 2 - Ability to replace the rechargeable battery when it dies To me a watch is a device that lasts 10+ years. I'm old school like that. Even cheap Casio watches last that long. Smartwatches and Hybrids still suffer from being completely disposable after 2-3 years.

    This is great to hear with the ecg and afib I felt like I’ve been tied to an Apple Watch for years because I’ve had a few health scares with my heart I love my android phones and don’t mind Apple to much but feel I need a change as there are so many great android phones out there now So you would say the ecg works well ? Also did it just alert you or did you have to run the ecg when you felt unwell ? Does the watch also monitor for irregular heart rhythm as I know Apple Watch does this in the background Did you have any symptoms as I hear some people live with it and don’t have symptoms and eventually can lead to strokes and heart attacks if not treated properly Thank you and I wish you good health

  • @petethecatable

    @petethecatable

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Chris34720 It does not automatically alert to Afib. You can set heart rate parameters for an alarm and that should work as Afib usually is associated with high HR. I generally know when I am having symptoms I want to check and trigger the diagnosis myself. The watch does an excellent job of making a recording I send to my cardiologist. The other parts of the app are really easy to use and very helpful-the sleep diagnostic and apnea diagnostics are helpful. I found out my problem is not as bad as I had feared. My cardiologist reversed his decision to implant a pace maker based on the records I have been able to produce.

    In terms of accuracy there is - no REM sleep detection at all - no way to decrease measurement intervals from 10min to every few seconds so you can measure peaks while training (--> Max bpm --> cardio age) - no rest pulse but only an average heart rate over the day which says basically nothing because: 1) Doing sports lowers the heart rate in general 2) while doing sports the heart rate is higher --> therefore the effect of a lower heart rate by living an active healthy life can not be measured because the average heart rate is increased by the active healthy life...due to Withings not referencing the heart rate data to the gyroscopic data in order to tell wether one is physically active at that moment or not. Fitbit and Apple perform way better in terms of accuracy while Withings artificially restricts it's users.

    @Max Mustermann Rem sleep with the apple watch isn't really possible, 🙄 they need overnight charging, my wife's Apple is down to 30% by the time we retire at night. The Withings is an activity watch ⌚️ that does an adequate job. I also have a Garmin Fenix 5 that is much more in depth but isn't astetically pleasing to the eye. If you are a hardcore fitness sports guy or gal the Withings isn't for you, but if you are a daily walker or hiker, Withings is more than sufficient. Cheers 🍻

    Do watches like this function fine (like a normal watch) after the softwares and the phone connectivity are out of service (after 5-10 years)? Since you said the time is set by the connected phone I’m assuming not. I would probably get this for daily life and get a cheap fitbit or something like that for running with. I’m deciding whether to get a smartwatch (like AW or Garmin) or not for a long time now and can’t quite bite the bullet. Having nfc on the wrist for like train pass and music on my runs sounds nice but having a good looking watch like this hybrid watch for the 98% of the time when I’m not doing that sounds more important to me, but in the end can’t decide. If it works like analogue watches even after the smart/digital parts of it are obsolete it would be worth it IMO, if the lifespan can be expected to be the same as a regular smart watch it’s kind of eh.

    Hi Mike. Thanks a lot for your excellent reviews. Your videos are really helping me choose a suitable hybrid smartwatch 🙂 I just got a Vivomove Style, but I'm having second thoughts with it and I'm considering getting the Withings Scanwatch instead (the regular 42mm one, not the Horizon). Since you also reviewed the Vivomove Style, could I ask you a couple of questions on how it compares with the Scanwatch in terms of "smart" features? 1. Which one is better in terms of notifications in your opinion? Even though the Style has a larger, "double" OLED screen, I find it very inconvenient that you have to tap on the notification icon to see the message contents at all, especially considering the touch controls aren't the best. Does the Scanwatch display text messages in that scrolling fashion rightaway as they arrive? Is it convenient to just glance at them without interacting with the watch? I come from a Pebble Time that would simply display the message on screen as it arrived, which I loved. 2. Which UI is more convenient to navigate? Looking at your video, I feel like the rotating crown provides a more reliable and precise way to control the UI in general, and the OLED screen in the Withings seems to have a very high refresh rate too, with nice animations and bouncing effects. The Vivomove Style has a larger screen, sure, but touch controls are finicky and transitions can feel choppy and unintuitive at times. 3. When you have unread notifications, does the Withings display some sort of persistent icon in the homescreen whenever you turn on the OLED display? Is it easy to go back and read notifications that you didn't cach as they arrived? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work, your videos are beautifully crafted and really help people get a good feeling of each watch, both aesthetically and functionality-wise.

  • @matrhein

    @matrhein

    The vivomove is more of a sports tracker with a lot better health metrics and - in my experience - better notifications, as it simply mirrors your phone. Withings has a special section in the app where you can customize the notifications that you receive, but some of my apps are not visible there. Messages arrive instantly when they are allowed. You can't go look at them again, though. The digital crown vibrates and is a wonderful way of interacting with the UI - especially if you detest touch screens. The Withings oled screen on the watch and the general design is really minimal: no notification indicator, no weather info, no stats, or additional apps. But You get a WATCH that can also do some Health tracking, and in terms of the watch, this is the closest thing to the analog experience that you will get. If that's what you're after, get it.

    Li-Ion accumulators usually last around 500-700 cycles which should be 20 to 25 years with 2 weeks of battery life and then the battery would be at roughly 70% capacity but still should work

    I've been obsessed with smartwatchs and tried most of the popular ones in the market. That said, I settled for a withings watch for three main reasons: 1. Battery life 2. Looks professional 3. Clinically validated Also, there app is outstanding and provides you with helpful tips and health information on a daily basis. So, it feels like a complete package that goes beyond owning something cool or interesting.

Also, the Withings app makes the experience much more enjoyable. I bought the Withings when they first launched and loved it (love their app too). Since then my purchases have gone back and forth between Apple and Withings (I also have their smart scale). I currently have an Apple - while I truly HATE HATE HATE the look of Apple watches (yes x hater 3) - I wear an Apple because my perception is that Apple might be a little more accurate. @mikeobrienn, you've reviewed so many wearables - which is the more accurate of these two in your personal opinion? Is Apple still the clear winner? Or are they pretty similar in terms of tracking fitness sleep and movement? (And honestly I wouldn't have a problem with the slightly higher price of the Withings). Hope you see this question and have a few minutes to answer.

    Honest feedback from experience after working with Withings support for months with no improvement. Got the latest app version. Sadly, it got worse. New problems: BPM (blood pressure devices) no longer works. It crashes the app. Old problems (not able to test) Notifications don't work. Calls are the most reliable, but the rest don't work or are unreliable. BPM results are not readable when using a dark theme. Background color competes with foreground text, making it unreadable for someone with normal vision. If you are color-blind, I imagine it would be worse.
