    The LoZ setting on the 116 is there to eliminate the meter from reading ghost voltage, similar to the way an old Simpson meter would. The 116 has eliminated the need for me to carry my old Simpson :( Came in real handy today on an Island Air PTAC reading 16 v of ghost voltage on the control wires. Ya that's just enough to make you question what's really going on, so I switched it to LoZ and it was gone. You can do something similar by putting a light bulb in parallel with the meter.

    I wouldn't recommend any meter that doesn't have an Amp Clamp for HVAC work - it's one of the main readings we take with our meters on a call.

    I’m liking the Flir meters, but they Must figure that the thermal camera is good enough for temp. That was my biggest complaint with the fluke 279fc no temp. My flir dm285 hasn’t been as bad on batteries as I thought it would be.

    Redfish, testo and or uei. Gets as good of quality and more features for the $

  • @HVACToolReview

    @HVACToolReview

    Never used a Redfish. And have never had a good experience with UEI products. Testo quality control seems to be all over the place. Some of their tools are great, but after several leaking micron gauges, faulty digital manifolds, I don’t think I’d pick up their 770 multi meter over a 902 to save a hundred bucks.

    Check my video on the fluke recall. kzread.info/dash/bejne/YmiVzY-DipXSgtY.html I’m betting they pulled most of the meters to ensure none of the recalled devices go out for sale. Probably won’t be easy to find one until they can get that sorted out unfortunately.

    Hello! Not to change subject, but amprobe has a heavy duty called the 160 hd. It's ip67 rated, cat 4, rated for 8 foot drop and has the features needed for hvac. caught my eye. This could be a cheaper choice over the fluke 87v max or standard 87v. Anyone have any experience with this meter? I know wavetek had an identical meter and fluke took over that meter. Just curious 🤔

  • @HVACToolReview

    @HVACToolReview

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hvac Player haha knew that was coming, but I honestly haven’t had the best experience with field piece. I had an sc620 that the amp clamp failed on in less than a year and it also had no backlight. I also had an st4 that never read accurate temps, but these were all years back so maybe they’ve improved? I did just pick up an sdmn6 dual input manometer for testing. So we will see how that works out and get a video put together for it.

    Can the 116 read milliamps?

  • @HVACToolReview

    @HVACToolReview

    4 жыл бұрын

    Unfortunately, No. Even tho it has the ability to read smaller micro amps, that range is limited to .1 microamps - 600 micro amps. Which is .0001 - .6 milliamps. So if you are needing to check 0-20 or 4-20 MA signals you would need a different meter. The 117 is able to read that milliamp range, but loses the thermometer function. Hope that helps!
