    Thank you so much for actually SHOWING the horse instead of just going on a tangent about stats and what not and giving barely a glimpse at the actual animal. As a player who prefers to buy the horse that I like regardless of stats, getting to actually see the horses was much appreciated! I'm thinking of working toward either the Gypsy Cob, or the Breton.

    The buckskin mustang was my luckiest buy. Hugs cougars and kisses alligators while catching bullets in its teeth. Yet the Buckskin was better than the other 3 mustangs I tested those 3 went from skittish to pure coward. My Fox trotter and Breton were both super skittish and kept bucking me off.

Also love how basically every breed of horse in the game makes the list once we're through the honorable mentions lol, but this is exactly the breadth of info and nuance I was looking for. In my opinion you can’t beat the mustangs and turkomans, they handle amazing, can be rocket fast and I don’t think I’ve ever worried about getting bucked off beside a predator or my horse being shot out under me. Also don’t have to worry about rank locks so that makes them the winners. The new coats are amazing too, though I really love the gorgeous fox trotters and the new gypsy cobs.

    Mustangs are good for beginners. They are the best affordable. They are the only horse breed which have max health / stamina, especially the newer ones. When I saw buckssin in the online mode, it was the very first purchase I made. It helped me reach level 94 and then I baught myself the black Arabian. My third horse was MFT Blue color, that horse is so pretty! ❤

I thought that I would have a choice of horses later on when I played the intro to RDO, and... I ended up grabbing the little guy on my way out of the outpost xD My friends make fun of me =) ... They don't play as much as I do, and solo progress is slow, most of the purchase choices are important I think in the early game so, I really appreciate your guide. Cheers!

    Great guide! I agree with you that the horses do vary and have tried several Turkoman horses and I personally found them to be too flighty until I tried the dark bay. For whatever reason this horse is a champ and doesn't spook like the prior ones I have owned. I have also experienced this with the Breton. I also feel like the Kladruber is really underrated, it is an all around great horse sans the extra speed and lastly I am so glad you mentioned the new Mustangs. A big improvement over the initial offerings, a sold horse for not a lot of cash. :) RDR2 needs more stable slots, my barn is full!

    I used to be really religious on using an Arabian for both story mode and online back when RDR2 first came out. I was one of those people who picked one up from Lake Isabella immediately at the start of chapter 2. Coming back to the game after 3 years, they still handle like a dream to me but the amount of times I've been bucked off from passing a pack of wolves on the road or had to chase it down after a gun fight broke out caused me to start looking at other options. Currently between the Turkomen and Mustang, with the Foxtrotter a close third.

    Since I started RDR2, I never had to have the fastest or most beautiful horse. You touched on the Bravery, Heart and Stamina of the different Breeds available. To me, this was always more important than speed, unless your racing. I only own 4 horses. The Silver Kladruper, Chestnut Turkomen, Piebold Hungarian Halfbred (which I've had forever and still use) and the Lower Ranked Norfolk Roadster. I took a shine to his Black coat and speed more than any other traits. After watching this, I might take a look at the newer Foxtrotters. Maybe get a nice mix of both. Absolutely a stellar video of information. Thanks and "well done"!👍

    I've become a huge fan of this channel. I've been able to catch a few of your streams and learn something every time, so thank you for that! You've earned a happy sub! Although I started the game recently, one of my priorities was to max out my stable, because of how much I appreciate the horses in this game. (I'm also in awe of the map itself.) Would you please be so kind as to do a run-down on saddles? I think we all know how good the Nacogdoches is, but there really isn't anyone anywhere who breaks down the tiers of the other saddles. Thanks so much!

    Thank you so much! You just made my day ❤ I'll definitely take a look at the saddles, I'm not great with going over stats and things like some of the players but I could probably do a basic video. Have you checked out PVPCat? I know he does have some saddle videos on his page and he is amazing at testing stuff!

  • @omagosh

    @omagosh

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@BlackKnight_ Thank you, that was definitely informative! I watched the video and read all the comments and I think my question could be answered without having to do a whole video. So far as I know, the Nacogdoches adds one bar more to speed/acceleration than all the other saddles. That is, I think it adds 3 gold squares total. Setting aside plus/minus stats to stam/core drain etc., do all the other saddles add just 2 gold squares to the main top speed and acceleration stats? Do some saddles add only 1 gold square to speed/acceleration whereas other saddles add 2? That's my question in a nutshell. Now that I've seen PVPCat's video I know the Upland saddle adds 2. The reason I ask is, I appreciate that bit of extra speed the Naco provides, but the snakes and skulls and joke barf coloration is a bit too edgy for me!

  • @BlackKnight_

    @BlackKnight_

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@omagosh I'm not a huge fan of the naco saddle myself because of the way it looks. I wouldn't worry about the speed stat too much. I've done a bunch of speed tests and the difference in speed between 3 bars and 10 bars is minor. The biggest benefit of the naco saddle is that paired with the hooded stirrup you will virtually never lose stamina on your horse. So if you have a horse with poor stamina or a lower tier horse this can be a huge advantage. If you have a horse with good stats though, saddles don't matter too much. If you can modify the saddle just make sure to get the hooded stirrup. That is what makes the biggest difference. For example my favorite saddle for looks is the belanger and with the hooded stirrups I don't need to worry about stamina drain too much on the horses I ride. Some saddles you can't change the stirrups - for example the special saddles, upland and other role saddles but these are all considered top tier saddles and again will provide some stamina drain protection. Also some saddles don't give any squares for speed and stamina. For example the stock Kneller Mother Hubbard Saddle doesn't add any gold bars to the horses stats and there are other low tier saddles like this too. Again the speed and acceleration stats won't make too much of a difference with your horse so I would go for the saddle you like the look of and upgrade the stirrups to the hooded.

    Love a video made by someone with as many hours in the game and love of the horses as much as myself. I've been on every horse, multiple coats and tiers, and agree with a damn near everything you've posted here. At the end of the day I actually went back and REpurchased one of my old favorites, the *Brown Leopard Appaloosa* and riding it again reminded me why I love it so much (the Grey Overo Paint is similar but edged out) - it's health is high enough that it does absolutely fine, but it's the temperament and all-rounder-ness of it that always gets me. I too believe the bravery of horses is somewhere in between the extremes online and that there's some element of chance. But for whatever reason I'm finding my new Brown Leopard, "Toketie", to behave (thank goodness) just like his "old" self. The thing that the Appaloosas and Paints seem to do better than *any* other breed is absolutely *charge* through thickets and brambles without so much as a whinny or complaint. I've found horses I love that get irritated by brush and they usually get irritated faster by other things as well. But that's not the case with the Appaloosa. The only other one I've found that's similar (and my favorite of the new role horses) is the Gypsy Cob - another (like you mention) *fantastic* all-arounder of a horse. I actually just ditched my top-tier Norfolk but kept my lev-10 Piebald Roan Norfolk because it's just better behaved, despite the lower health. I've had skittish Criollos as well, but my current one is a rock. And, I could ramble for days here but the only other thing I'd say is how strange the Arabian debate is... It's definitely not an extreme horse for me (love or hate, etc.) I think they're perfectly fine and the handling can be amazing, but I find them too high maintenance to get on with day-to-day in game. I do understand why a lot of folks love'm though, and I think the anti-Arabian thing is just backlash for their high gold price and the endless "BEST HORSE IN THE GAME" comments and videos they received for the first year. I want to run a livery yard in-game. That's a role I'd get behind. :D

    @@BlackKnight_ Oh - One more observation - I'm not sure if it's still holding true with the many new role horses, but it seemed to me early on that the breeds/coats you bought with gold always seemed to be a tick above in terms of temperament especially, e.g. a great example is teh American Standardbred which can be *really* skittish (just like they're described) but I've bought the Silver-tail 3 different times and each of those has always been *far* more even-headed than their non-gold cousins.

    Great channel, love your videos. I'm a little confused, maybe you can help. Saddles. I used to have the Nacagdoches Saddle but swapped it for the Rattlesnake Vaquero Saddle. Wherever I go online, I just hear about the Nacagdoches being the best. But as far as I can work out, the Rattlesnake is a whole lot better. Swapping back to Nacagdoches would give me a worse drain rate on: Stamina Regen, Stamina Drain, Stamina Core Drain, and Heart Core Drain. And yes, that is WITH the hooded stirrups. I've stuck with the Rattlesnake, but I keep wondering if I'm missing something here...?

  • @BlackKnight_

    @BlackKnight_

    3 жыл бұрын

    I haven't tested it but I believe that the rattlesnake saddle is almost as good as the Nacogdoches saddle. The difference between the two is that you can equip the hooded stirrup with the naco saddle which gives it an extra boost since you can't change the stirrups with the rattlesnake saddle. I believe in theory that stats wise the rattlesnake should be better and a lot of people think it is bugged because you virtually never lose stamina with the naco saddle. However, the differences are so minimal you probably won't notice it. If you like the look of the rattlesnake saddle and you aren't having issues with the stamina draining too quickly, I would stick with it!

    I've been playing RDO for a long time and wow, so many horses, so many personality for each of them! My current favourites in my stables are Erebus (Male Black Turkoman), Starlight (Female White Gipsy Cob) and Shadow (Male Black Standarbred). I have other horses too and I can definitly tell that they all behave different ways in climate, travels, predators attacks, gun fights... Erebus for example is really brave against any predator (even legendaries) except for bears, he is very skittish when facing bears lol, very impatient, does not like to stand still, but still a very gentle giant. Starlight is incredibly brave in any situation and very calm when facing even the heaviest rains, but when I acidentaly trip and fall with her, she gets furious with me and takes too long to calm down! And Shadow is very calm and loyal, he feels like a very joyful horse, but it's very umpredicable when facing predators, still a very good horse and lovely travel and work companion. I'm thinking about getting more non meta horses and currently I'm testing a Hungarian Halfbred, but also want to give a chance to a Andalusian! All the love to Red Dead horses.

    The first horse I grabbed was the Chestnut Turk in RDO, with a free horse reward straight out the gate. I absolutely love him, and do not regret it one bit. I love the even temperament, the gait and overall look of turkomans, whilst still keeping up in speed and agility. I went ahead and purchased a buckskin mustang not long after when they went half price, and my goodness I love my mare as well. I love their stockier muscular build, the fact they tend to not run as far after running away, and overall tenacity and ability to keep up. I’d recommend Mustangs as a first buy for new players because they’re not super temperamental or needy like Arabians, and don’t come with a massive price tag and regret if you don’t like the look of them, especially with the higher stat mustangs being not rank locked too is a big win. Arabians... I don’t know where I sit with them. I like their handling, but I just hate the fact that they look like kid’s ponies, and on top of it, I’ve never had to calm a horse as much and run after it in a fight just to get back on in the saddle. Even in story mode, I think it’s best to pass them unless you want the flashy symbol of having one, or love the look, I’ve never been particularly impressed with the Arabian, except in a race.

Best all class, w/ nagodoches saddle basically invincible. Plus when you factor in the investment of only 500 rdo$ compared to other “best horses in the game” at around 1,000 rdo$ your looking at filling your stable with all 4 of them for only 2,000$ instead of 4,000$ for all the Turks/fox ts.
