BEST GLOSS BLACK PEELABLE PAINT | Duplicolor Custom Wrap WET LOOK Review! | PlastiDip, Black Out
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
A friend of mine wanted a cheap and fast way to black out his Range Rover HSE. I tried a few different sprayable and peelable paints including Plasti Dip, Rustoleum Peel Coat, and Duplicolor Custom Wrap and none of them gave me the high Gloss Black i was looking for... Even with the Clear Coat and Glossifier top coats... I found a new product in DupliColors Custom Wrao line up called WET LOOK and this is how it went!

Plasti Dip can be a mess, but I love the concept that you can peel it off. It’s very easy once you know how to apply it. Just make sure you apply it thick or it’s a paint to come off. If you put it on thick, it’s actually very satisfying when you go to peel it off 😅
Hey Josh, nice work man. That's a really good find. Keep it up!

Thank Chris!
Thanks for doing this video, i just blacked out some of the emblems on my Ram with Plasti Dip and its glossifier but not super happy with the results. I might have to try the Duplicolor Wet Look stuff because i wanted a glossier finish.
Really nice turnout. I would suggest painting with a vertical application, using spray cans. Allowing to dry in the flat position. Heating cans Pryor and a heat source while drying. Orange peel should be almost eliminated. Great video really showed the diff in products.
Looks good Josh! Would like to see the final result of the whole vehicle 👍🏼

How did it turn out? Do they clean pretty easily? Plan on doing mine this weekend.
Thanks. ..I have used duplicolor clear coat over carbon black it's a bit orange peely and works best and smooths out good if you put it on straight away while the black is still wet and comes out nice and glossy and don't forget to pull any masking tape off while it's wet or you'll be wasting a lot of time and money Also drop those cans in some hot water before spraying and wipe water off can hope this helps people

Drop cans in hot water??????🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

@@raskalteekayesssgaxg360 ya. Hot (not boiling, just hand washing hot) water will evenly heat the cans. Hot air expands inside the can, making more pressure. More pressure gives you a finer spray which usually results in less orange peel. A small bucket with your water and cans in for about 5-10 minutes will do wonders for the quality of your rattle can jobs, ESPECIALLY if temps are below 70 f. Try it you next (any) can of rattle can paint and don't forget to shake it thoroughly for 60-120 seconds. Shake between layers too (30-45 seconds)
I have the exact l405 and I used hyperdip last year and this year I did the rustoleum vynil wrap. I will try this one next. I was fixing some curb rash but the wheel paint dont match the gloss of the rims. Did you paint your rims or had to paint areas? Which paint you used?
Plastidip do a one can glossy product now, have you tried that? Also any reason why you opted not to try HyperDip? I'm planning to dechrome my car so just researching which product to go for. Cheers
Thanks for the video. I am going to do my emblem with a gloss black. So thanks for the video.

you bet!
I wonder if this can be used on plastic chrome accessories as well?
I wonder if anyone has tried to wipe ceramic coating over the plasti dip?
Should I use duplicolor black for my AMG Wheels?
One of the better videos I've seen on this - I wish you had added Hyperdip and Superwrap for the ultimate test! Im looking for a high gloss for a lip spoiler and side skirts so it's got to somewhat durable too. Not sure that unicorn exists hahaha

Superwrap is garbage, Plastidip is ok, Dupli-color is by far the best I’ve used.
Thanks Josh! looks nice, good job,,, 👍🏻 I subscribe now!

Did you try black plastidip with 2k high gloss clearcoat from spraymax?
No matter how thick I lay down those peel off paints, it takes me forever to peel them off. Over time they get dry and brrittle and break when you try to peen them. A pain in the rear but useful in many ways, like the way you used it. They are great for racing stripes. Did my alloy wheels, looked great, held p great, Almost impossibleto get all of that stuff off the wheels. Acetone does nothing. Great and helpful video. Thanks.
It would have been useful to show us a close up of the factory paint to see if orange peel was visible.
Any idea how to minimize orange-peel with this product?
Good job , where do you find this product in Australia ?
Champion paint is very good, great on plastic bumpers
How many cans would be needed for 20” wheels?
“ Very very very very super super super super impressed” 😂
Looks dry like glossy but like the overspray stays maybe if you did the extra coats wet
I wonder about the durability of the product, thanks Josh 👍😁

Good question, the good thing about these peelable products is they are pretty easy to touch up
What if you used the paint in the hard to reach grooves since those aren't as noticed and then vinyl wrap the smooth surface. That way you get the black without fighting the tight areas.

Thats a thought, but the vinyl doesnt like to stick to spray painted surfaces too well. You can use a primer for the vinyl like Primer 94 to help but i dont know how long it would hold

@@imjoshv yeah I haven't really came across that situation yet. I haven't played with the peelable paints. Thanks for the video. Great stuff.
What about hyperdip?
Hyper dip seems to be a good product takes a while to come in but great reviews

Where are the links?
Since that’s an actual black paint you could make the gloss finish even better if you used a buffer and some turtle wax
You can use plastidip with a auto 2k clear and you will get a super gloss look and it will still peal
so what products did you use for the super glossy one?

Watch the video you’ll find out
does anyone think he went a little heavy on the first black coats..? it seems that may have attributed to a little orange peel
Great video and representation. But the orange peel on the final product was horrendous. 6 light coats would definitely have yielded a better result since it's not self-leveling.
Have you ever tried Plastidip topped with 2K clearcoat?

i tried the black Plastidip 4 coats then 2 coats of glossifier and wasn't real happy with results, it pretty much still looks matt finish
where is the products you used ?? you put down in one comment to watch vidio most details give list why havent you

I actually wrapped those I vinyl and didn’t spray them
You used too much material off the rip. Use very light robotic passes, putting on less than 1/2 of what you’re using. Elevate pieces to at least hip high, on the ground remains a dust cloud(think surgical). Often fish eyes are from surface Contaminants less will appear if pieces are elevated. This will start to get you the results you’re seeking. I can get factory results with trash ass rusto cans from hardware store. Thanks for the video, these are just tips from my experience. Hyperdip is far better I think
This would have been perfect; if not for so much orange peel,
