Awesome! I used plexiglass the only means to let the dogs go in and out. With your design makes it easier to keep the from wind blowing into the house or lost of A/C through the opening. Many thanks. Already making your doggie door design.

What a perfect solution. Best "rigid" / weather proof solution I have seen online. I may add a weather strip around the edges for a slightly better seal. Thanks for sharing!

The seal is already good but I think weather stripping would not detract from the design. If I were to add weather stripping, I would router out where it goes so as to have it be only sticking out a little. Think of the seal around a wood or coal stove. Good luck and thanks for the positive comment.

Your welcome. I have had dogs and dog doors for a long time. This door is great! We have had a cold winter and have 5 dogs and that door is a real heat and draft saver.

I love it, dude. NICE! Ill use your design one day. And probably make my own mwchanism on the indoor side, a steel plate or something, that can slide in and keep burglars out / dogs in during the night

Wow! Swift! I'm making a smaller plexiglass cat door and this idea is a way better design for outdoor weather than what I was thinking. Do you have a link for the magnets and how did you mount to the plexiglass? Beautiful job!

Thanks job, I was kind of surprised to see that you used a different way of the door opening for them to go in, and A different style for them to go out or using the frame also to go out instead of like a traditional dog door ThatThat flaps both ways?

Hey Depression. This is a great idea. I am going to put this on my TO-DO list for sure. I am tiered of getting up and letting the dog out, then 5 minutes he wants back in. Do you have any idea what each door cost you? Thanks for sharing.🍁👍👍😊

I am not really sure what each unit cost. I bought larger size materials because I felt I would probably end up making more or using it for something else. I moved one of those doors to my walkout basement. I built half of a French Door and used some of the plexiglass for that. Check out this video. kzread.info/dash/bejne/jJ6kr8avhduneqg.html I built the door on the left from scrap 2x8's. You can probably get small pieces of Plexiglass at HomeDepot or Lowes of at a local glass shop. You could make the frame with wood instead of plastic if you have the capability to glue good corner joints. So all you need is like a 1x3 for the frame and a piece of glass and a couple hinges and of course capability. Good luck!

Mount the plexiglass to the frame and center it. Take the frame to your opening and make sure that the plexi swings freely with clearance at all points of the swing.

If my memory is accurate the white composite sheet was around $100 and the sheet of plexiglass was $200. You can purchase smaller pieces of plexiglass or go to a glass shop and have them cut the exact size you want.
