We have the sure flap cat door mounted in the wall of our dining room. Our cat, Scout, loves it! She is a very timid cat so we weren't sure that she would use it, but she took to it right away. It's great because you can lock it too, so if something is going on outside that you want to keep the cat in, such as fireworks, you can keep the cat in when you need to. It's a little pricy but it's worth every penny. The batteries only need to be changed every 7-8 months, maybe longer. There is a red low battery light that flashes on the top of the door so you will know the battery is getting low.
