I have owned the double mast for years and I love it! I live by the ocean so it has rusted the hinges a bit but they are still functional.

This was exactly what I was looking for to figure out what easel best fits my needs, thanks so much!

There's one very BIG flaw in every easel I've owned, which is three. The adjustment knob on the canvas holder should be made of METAL not PLASTIC. The ONLY reason I've had to get three easels? this knob breaks after only a short time and I get tired of adjusting it with a wrench. Why companies like yours won't spend a little more money and make this ONE KNOB metal is beyond me, unless you do it in hopes of it breaking and we consumers having no choice but to buy a new one. And if you won't do that, then why not sell replacement knobs? Please answer this, can't wait to hear the explanation.

TheJhaley12 In the Product Information Department at Blick, we field many, many more calls from customers who have stripped the metal part of the knob assembly than actually broken the plastic on the knob itself. Of course, the Best easels in this video have a lifetime warranty, so if in the course of normal use the knob were to break, a replacement could be sent to you. If you have another brand of easel that you purchase from Blick Art Materials and a knob breaks, please call or email us at 1-800-933-2542 or info@dickblick.com. We may be able to special order a replacement knob.

Blick Art Materials I've bought all three of mine from Hobby Lobby, that's all that's around this area except Michaels and they barely have painting supplies. The one's I've used are Master Touch, the wood is fine of course it isn't used that much but all the knobs have broken off all three of them and this time I told the store manager no matter how much paint the easel has on it if it breaks it goes back, it's ridiculous to make that part out of plastic in the first place, at least that one knob that gets so much use. It would be nice if SOMEONE anyone just supplied these knobs as I'm sure they are made in quantity so why not have them at the stores?

TheJhaley12 We appreciate your frustrations, but because you purchased the easels from Michaels and because we do not carry the Master Touch Easels, we cannot provide replacement parts. You may be able to find a suitable replacement knob at a local hardware store. As we mentioned in our last response, you may wish to consider a different brand (such as Best) or an easel with a ratchet system to eliminate that knob altogether. I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby the only place in this area besides Michaels. Michaels has close to nothing in the way of art supplies, at least the one here doesn't. But how hard would it be to simply make these knobs available at a reasonable price? I told the manager at HL that when this one breaks it will be returned no matter how much use it's had and it will be. It's such a simple fix but I honestly believe it's done purposely. Aren't the knobs on your easels the same exact thing? plastic etc?

And about easels for paint in "Plein Aire" ?

I own the Santa Fe ll, great easel. the only disadvantage are the black casters, they always get stuck, and it’s hard to move the easel around, in my opinion the easel is way too heavy for those El Cheapo casters.

I live my Best. But would rather have a spring loaded release like my cheap o. Having two turning knobs is cumbersome when moving the canvas up and down.

We see your point- the biggest, most full featured easel isn't always the best one for every studio. That's probably why most artists hang onto their old, trusty easels even after they upgrade to larger ones with tilt control, winch, and casters

I just do paint by numbers right now. I have a few of my pictures up on my wall and people are surprised to find out they are paint by numbers. In the past I used the diningroom table but have thought of getting an easel. I was surprised at how many different easels there are. I don't need anything expensive what would you suggest.

Scott Speers If you don’t have a lot of room and like to work sitting down, then the table top version would be a good option.
