I always enjoy your videos but I have a suggestion. Limit the camera angle changes when you are speaking to the camera. I'm not sure you need to change views at all.

Joshua, excellent video. Having experienced a similar scare, I added DC to my small shop. I have a large shop vac with an Oneida separator and I also have a HF DC and it works well for me. There were two things I changed on the HF DC: added the Oneida cyclone separator and a large Donaldson cartridge air filter (Donaldson P181038 Filter, Amazon, ~$155 at the time). Wynne also makes a cartridge air filter for your HF. Get rid of the bags. Also consider using a mask (I use RZ masks) and a respirator (mine's 3M). Only takes a moment to put them on and take them off. You can't be too careful. I also have a JET overhead air filter with an electrostatic filter. It is now a joy to work in the shop and cleanup is a breeze.

Well done. I just finished assembling an Oneida 3hp V-system (HEPA)in my shop last weekend. I still have the duct installation ahead of me. Oneida suggested playing with machine placement until I settled in on the shop layout. They will provide a free ducting design once placement is determined. I cannot say enough good things about the Oneida folks during this order process. Real pros. Prayers for your continued good health.

I'm a satisfied Oneida cyclone owner since 2003 and like you, knew I had to get dust collection under control or quit woodworking. The Oneida cyclones and their design service are certainly worth the expense. I have customers that visit my shop frequently and all remark about how clean and dust free the shop is. Most of my machines were purchased from now defunct NC furniture plants and present a challenge for proper dust collection, but happily most are dust and chip free. I have 2 Delta Unisaws - one dedicated to a dado stack and the second is my main saw. On the main saw, over-table blade dust collection was indeed difficult, but I purchased a Shark Guard capable of accepting a 3 inch hose and have been very pleased with the dust pickup. A 5 X 5 x 3 inch 45 degree lateral allowed me to provide cabinet and over-table collection. Great job on the video and the explanations on the purchase decision logic and install process. Nice to see the kiddos in the shop.

Greta coverage of a very important topic! We only get 2 lungs - need to keep them clean! I have the same table saw and had the same problem with the blade guard dust collection. I improved it greatly by attaching the 2 1/2 inch hose to a dedicated dust extractor (or shop vac)and removing the diverter piece saw stop provides so only 4 inch port is connected to the main dust collection system. 2 ways to collect dust at one saw seems like a lot but it works pretty well. I rarely see any dust left on the table or ejected into the air. I think a 2 1/2 inch hose needs the high pressure of an extractor - it’s just not large enough to move adequate air to use a low pressure, high-volume collector.

Watching this video with the sound loud enough for my wife to hear convinced her it was time for me to upgrade my dust collection system. from a single stage (cheap) unit. I am glad to hear that you're OK and want to thank you for helping me to pull some money out of the tightly held purse.

Joshua, I’m glad you seem to have your health issue behind you. I’ll pray that it continues. I run into the dust control problem too only it came down to available power. My shop is separate from the shop but runs off the house power. I had enough to run the machines or the dust control system but not both. That’s why I went the traditional woodworking route. Anyway, hopefully when I get my health issues behind me, I’ll be able to sign up for some more classes. Take care my friend.

Stay in good health! Thanks for this informative video. And, I second your idea: Oneida should make a good overarm dust collector for table saws. I haven't seen a satisfactory general solution to this problem.

Glad you're okay. I think it's best to wear a p100 filter in addition to your suggestions. I have one of those dylos air quality meters and I use that to dictate when to take my mask off. I use ambient air cleaners to catch what doesn't get collected at the source.

Our health is definitely worth the best equipment. I had the same harbor freight DC as you and was always frustrated with its performance. I was able to save my pennies and bought the Harvey G-700. Its been a game changer for me and has the same efficiency as your dust gorilla. Hope everything checks out ok for you with your health scare

We just upgraded our 40+ year old DC With new 10HP Direct Drive Cyclone Dust Collector with dual 55 gallon barrels. The also replaced most of the pipe and gates. It Sucks circles around our old 7.5 hp. Yavapai College wood program. I’m installing the same system you got in my new shop.

I recently upgraded my DC from a slightly stronger single stage and pleated filter, with the same trash can lid separator, to the Super Dust Deputy and the old fan/motor mounted on top of it. With about 10' of metal duct to flex hoses. It sucks all the chips out of my new Hammer A3-41 with ease. I went from 700 CFM at the Hammer. Now the only problems are keeping an eye out for the flashing light, and frequently emptying the 30 gal can I still use.

I'm a very satisfied Oneida customer. I purchased a supercell two years ago to collect dust from the saw, planer, and jointer. Besides using 4" duct work to stationary machines, I can also connect, using an 4" to 2 1/2" adapter, a 36mm Festool hose to a 4" flex hose and use the SuperCell instead of a shop vac to clean the shop or connect to handheld tools like sanders, a Kreg pocket hole jig and a domino.

Question for you, the blastgates you use. Why did you not use the automatic one's ? I follow someone forget his name right. But he has the over Arm table saw from sawstop. When you get a chance get it. I believe it would solve you table saw isue.

Very good topic with the Oneida. Loved your info! Using the 2 camera's was somewhat distracting to watch. Suggest using only one camera to talk too as your audience is like talking to one person. Best DC videos I have seen otherwise. Thanks for the time invested, hope your health continues to be well.

Nice. I need pipe and fittings myself but there more expensive than the dust collector. 900 per drop is what the price has worked out to be plus the trunk line. I want 6 drops. Thanks for posting.

Unless you have a quality air monitor such as Dylos Air Quality Monitor then you have no idea if you not breathing fine dust which you cannot see. You need to have more than just the Oneida DC and table DC. You need auto blast gates because you will forget to either turn on the DC or open the gate. You need at least two overhead air cleaners to keep your shop safe. Pay me now or pay me later. More simply either invest money in the most DC equipment now or pay the medical bill or worse later. Just trying to help.

I have to ask, why do you pay so much for filters? why dont you just put a hole to the wall and let it outside? if your house is close, you can put the outside exit hose into a barrel full of water and it will be %100 filtered.
