The imperfections on the pallet, those little brown dots and the little empty space is actually something from the kiln firing process. After glazing you can’t set some pieces directly on the kiln shelf so it has to be raised up on these little stilts and those have little nails embedded into them, so only the tiniest point is touching the ceramic piece. The reason why they’re on the paint mixing side and not on the bottom side is because they wanted the smoothest surface on the concave wells and so they put the pallet face down onto the little stilts so that any of the glaze would move along the surface and give it the smoothest finish, versus it possibly pulling down off of the sides and into the bottom of the well and creating an uneven surface. Most of the time those little stilts don’t leave anything behind but it looks like you got a little bit of brown on the white glaze, maybe dust particles or a little tiny bit of metal or rust. It is an imperfection but it’s just part of the ceramic process and doesn’t affect their quality.

How did i miss this video?! So glad you linked it from today's vid (Dec 23 2023). This palette looks fabulous, I have all these really cute ones with tiny wells and constantly frustrate myself, have a small workspace so try to keep small tools but I think a larger palette would be more sane. You know I love mixing and swatching and playing with all the flavors of color wheels would keep me entertained for days. I've done these before but it was WAY more chaotic, this palette is a game changer 🤣

Vee, maybe you should use the 4.75 inch Meeden ceramic palette. It’s only six perimeter wells but you can easily make tertiary colors by mixing adjacent wells. And they come in sets of three palettes.

Great review. Love that palette. Measuring desk space but I agree about a smaller one-it would be perfect. Even 7"would make a difference. I got a Baobong sample packet. I wasn't impressed. Did not like the texture at all. But the Meeden one is similarly priced to the sample packet. May give it a try also. Birthday next week so I'm treating myself. Also love the links to Handprint. I did not know they had info like that available. WTG Vee!

I have a smaller ceramic palette like this for my limited table space and I must say I still want bigger palette like in this video as I keep mixing colors too thin lmao. so much to work on but so tight space 😂 Glad to hear the paper is almost as same as Baohong quality so I don't have to buy and test them myself. Thanks again Vee!
