This is basically what I lived on in a toolshed. A little bit of water from the main house, Boiled the water for a shower, which was just a garbage bag taped in the corner. Squatted down, and pour. I wanted a rechargeable shower head that would heat the water. Was going to calk together a small shower, to use the water for clothes. . I had a $70 spin dryer , that fit jackets and sleeping bags. Wash them in a bucket, spin dry, to stand up air dryer. Like a stand up coat rack with a cover, and a hair dryer blowing into it. . Toaster oven, hot plate. Mini fridge. Little heater. .. 170 wat solar panel. 4 batteries, with Inverter. It was awesome 👍 400 a month to live there. Used her garage can The neighbors thought it looked bad someone was living in the toolshed. Half them turned their toolsheds into hobby rooms, she sheds, and it was unsightly I was actually living in one. I had a toilet in there.. . All wood toolshed that looked just like the main house. . Anyway, thank you for the video 😊 . I would have been more efficient with a Jackery.

Since everything is from Amazon … there are USB adapters for Echo Dot and Echo 5. Complete game changer for me on the road. I can run my Echo 5 and wifi dongle on a power brick for days. Who doesn’t want to sit or lie around and say “Alexa what’s the weather? Alexa what’s the time? Alexa play…” I first got into USB and powerbanks from a video you did a few years ago with a lady who doesn’t have a battery /solar set up. Well worth linking to on this video as the range of appliances available nowadays has increased dramatically. Great video. I’ll be searching for some of those items on Amazon Australia

The cool thing about PD (USB-C) is that is can provide anything from 5 Volt to 20 Volt. You can use a PD power source to power a laptop that needs 20 Volt. You can use it to power any 12 Volt devices. All you need is a small adapter from PD to the plug you need. Amazon sells them for all kinds of devices. I bought some for my external hard drive (12 Volt) and for my laptop. PD is the way to go

Neat, but the alternator on most of my vehicles put ou much less than 400 watts. I could get a beefier alternator if it will fit, but most cost between $180 - $250. I have had good luck with a smaller inverter though.. You just need to know the specifications of your vehicle. They usually can be found in your vehicles owners manual.

Thanks Bob! I've been watching these product reviews for years! Bought a GooLoo car charger years ago. As my car has gotten older, it has come in handy several times recently when my original car battery was winding down. Such peace of mind to be able to charge it in a few minutes without having to wait for triple A or find someone to give me a jump with jumper cables. I carry it in the glove compartment, wouldn't want to be without it! Also have a headlamp you recommended and USB fan and so many other products over the years.

One other USB chargeable device that you didn't mention that I thought might be helpful for van lifers is a mason jar vacuum sealer for dry goods that you may not get into often (think Parmesan cheese, dried mushrooms, or small forms of pasta like penne, elbow macaroni or rotini ) or for leftover wet products like spaghetti sauce or salsa that you may want to refrigerate (if you have the ability for long term refrigeration) for up to a few weeks. It fits right onto a jar, with lid, and sucks the air out and seals the lid. Probably takes up about the same space as a red Dixie cup. I use one at home all the time. May not be as useful on the road, but I thought I would suggest it.

Can vouch for Ryboi vacuum, this plus drill and tyre inflater are musts when travelling, they do 12V charger if you don't have inverter. Reciprocating saw is nice option for cutting firewood, chainsaw is quicker but not as compact and clean because of oil on chain. Inflater is must for topping up bike, vehicle and RV tires at home or on road. Drill for winding RV stays up and down, worth carry some drill and driver bits for general repairs. All the above applies to other battery tool brands.

If you have or want a battery powered tool system anyway consider those! They can make a lot of sense! Some systems have radios, fans, vacuums, beam lights and lanterns as well as the usual tools like drills and saws etcetera. You might choose a brand based on the tools they offer, like lanterns for example. I think Ryobi has lanterns for example, beam lights, and radios. Also some systems have chargers that work off of 12 volts without a converter and have a battery powered inverter for 110 AC. This really should seriously be considered as opposed to buying everything as stand alone units, each with its own internal battery! Many of you want cordless tools anyway! Think about it... Also somebody makes a totally hand powered blender and that might be a better bet. Same with mixers, food processors, coffee grinders and a few other kitchen gadgets. Someone makes a 12 volt slow cooker I think?...Truckers used to use them, maybe still do? I encourage people to look into more and consider if you need an electric powered device when there are alternatives. I mean I've seen 12 volt coffee makers and people use inverters for 110 AC coffee makers but why not just use a French Press or a pour over funnel to make coffee or make cowboy coffee or some other method?...Or buy a ring style toast maker holder for your stove surface unit...not a toaster... Even if one has an elaborate electric system I think some of these things should be considered. I'm sure this guy's videos have covered most of this but I'm encouraging people to look into his many videos including older ones to know their options.

The cordless tool system approach is underrated! Just the battery swap out aspect is a killer feature! Charge one, use the other! I think for the devices one can, it should be first choice...then resort to stand alone devices as you have to.

Bob, what is PD. When you say USB or PD is PD...Power Device? Thank you so very much.

PD = Power Delivery. PD can provide low watts for a small phone, up to being able to charge a modern phone, Nintendo Switch, or even a Laptop at a healthy pace. PD uses USB-C, and not Micro, such as with older devices.

I really like the Luci solar powered inflatable lamps. Easy to stick on your dashboard and charge up. No USB, but really great simple design.

There are also USB handwarmers. These do draw a fair amount but they can warm your hands back up if they get cold somehow. You can also get low powered laptops or tablets that can help you produce videos or browse the internet. You have to limit the amount of time but it is a good thing to know about. If you absolutely have to have a TV consider one of the dongles that turns a laptop into a TV. They are a lot smaller than a TV.

a nice and timely video! I'd like to add that Amazon sells USB to AA adapters. Plug your USB device into a little battery box and pop in some little AAs! I also have a usb powered AA charger like Bob showed. the adapters allow me to set up fans and lights where I want them more permanently, like fans in my roof vent and stove hood. They never need tethered to my portable batteries, but the AA recharger is. :)

I have had the green LE lantern for years. The USB charge port is weak, it broke and wouldn't charge. I fixed mine but, it requires soldering.

Good stuff. I keep 2 usb rechargabele headlamps. 1 incab of truck. 1 in camper. Keep them in assigned locations in case you suddenly go dark. I use combo ryobi 18v fan, radio, lamp. Between Bluetti, solar, generator I stay powered up. Of course I live off grid ( 13 years)as well as overlanding/rv/ camping. Some lessons apply across into both worlds.

Tool systems are underrated for this use, lanterns, fans, vacuums, radios, power inverter...and the regular tools like a drill... Just the effect of having two batteries so one can be charging while another is in use is a killer feature! Ryobi is pretty good for the price as a system...but I'd look at all and what devices each has that you like. Also there's a battery out there that works on multiple systems I'd look into...I saw a video...

If you have an inverter, a newer EBL model that can charge both aa and aaa, and in combination and odd numbers (not necessary in pairs) is just over $14.00. a reminder -These chargers are not for lithium batteries. For my metal detector I have rechargeable Lithium AAA and they have an independent USB port built in with a times 4 charging cord. Great batteries when you don't use something often, but good to go when you do want to use it.

I have a small USB fan that cools like crazy! Looks very much like the one you held up. Three speeds and the angle is adjustable. I got it on Amazon; that particular brand isn't available anymore, but similar ones are.

The Jump Starter is a must. The first time I saw one used I laughed at the guy and told him that wouldn't work. Bam!!!!!! Engine started. I watched Project Farmer and bought the one he recommended. I've needed to help jump a friends car in the winter. Battery totally dead. Hooked it up and Bam,,,, it started! Thanks for all of your videos!
