Defying Laws of Physics by Installing a Wind Turbine on My Car

Ойын-сауық

My name is Arslan and I’ve been living in vehicles for the past few years. My journey of alternative living began after I was fed up with the high cost of rent in the United States. I fell in love with the idea of living on the road, so over the years, I converted a sprinter van, a Camaro and most recently been living in my 2014 chevy suburban camper car. I enjoy making KZread videos and recording my different experiences to share with you guys.
In This video: I did the impossible: Installed a 12v 400 Watt Wind turbine on top of my camper car!
KZread Posting Schedule: Saturdays 9am EST
I love reading your comments and wish I could reply to all of you but my schedule doesn't allow. But I always reply to SUPER CHATS because they pop up on my phone!
P.S. If I need to tell you guys something, I will comment and pin it on my latest video.

Who is ready for an ENTIRELY new adventure?! Hey guys, Arslan here. I'm excited to announce the possibility of taking Solar Camper Car internationally! I’m talking about living in cars and campers in different countries, exploring new roads, tasting new foods, and experiencing different cultures and people! This is a big step up and a new challenge, so I'll be spending the next few weeks off planning my logistics and doing A LOT of research. See you soon! ❤️

While the idea of the wind turbine is admittedly cool, all it is really doing lowering your gas mileage more than the energy the wind turbine creates when you drive with it on top of your car. simply connecting your alternator to your batteries would be simpler and more efficient. The turbine could be a good idea if you can detach it and set it up when your car is parked during windy days or night however!

Wind turbine on a driving car might cause more fuel usage and I doubt the few watts would make you for it. I think you would generate way more power with the same fuel consumption when you use the engine to generate this power. On buildings, standing bars and so on that's another story.

@@nataliethomas1991 and I was already blocks. What are you guys talking about wood blocks? Get the sickest PVC conduit big enough to go around it and have them cut it for you and also have them cut a disk for you because it’s so much easier for them to do the cuts, then Drill the holes for the mounting bracket in the disc before adhering it to the inside of the PVC peace so it would look like one solid piece and then yeah krylon plasti-coat everything to match. As far as mounting, it would think that a very strong magnet on the bottom of that disc would hold it in place just fine actually much better than the bolts and screws and brackets, which will vibrate themselves loose in no time . Just remember that magnets are living creatures like we are and they lose magnetism depending on what the atmosphere is doing just like during an electrical storm. you can taste the electricity and everything else is being dimmed out a.k.a. ghost hunting type phenomena because the storm is taking the power from all the sources to use at its will. No, I didn’t forget about the wires ( dash 3 ;) to the inverter… I was thinking they could just run along/under the solar panels with their wiring. They would need to be cramped with little spade and slot connectors so you could just unplug each one and then of course the part that would stay with the solar needs to have a little rubber booties that can flip up over them so that they don’t touch anything when they are not connected, and then you shouldn’t have a problem, right? Oh, that was fun thank you. I think I got it all man that came out so natural. My grandfather had me working on wiring and car things when I was preteen you raised me to be a do it all know it all learn it all play it all person good stuff thank you .

I got that same red rotor wind turbine on eBay a few years ago. Apparently the pipe flange shape at the bottom of the rotor uses metric shape, because the hardware stores in the US only had imperial (inch) sized pipe and fittings which did not match up. However I did find a pipe/tube with in the fence section that was close to the hole in the bottom of the rotor.

Nice job. For the crossbar, the wood is a good test, as it can become unstable. Perhaps two squared aluminum bars would be more stable if this is something long-term. It does make your vehicle look less like a security vehicle, but if it works why not. You would also try and paint it black. This could blend in. Or maybe, use the same motor, but design your own blades so they are maybe lower but wider. Congratulations to your sister. Thanks for sharing.

How so? To generate any real useable energy you've got to drive it around (negating your clean power, and, due to wind resistance, probably not actually generating any net power) or wait for a hurricane. This is not the first guy to think of this. The consensus is that it's not worth the effort.

@spec24 The winters I have spent in Arizona, the wind blows somedays 20+ mph and most days around 8-10mph. Plus most nomads change locations every two weeks or run into town once a week. It would be, as the youtube poster said, an addition to the solar.

The wind turbine is cool. I have wanted to do a mix with Solar and wind powered but will watch your progress first. The solar is getting more reasonably priced. I need new batteries so maybe now is the time to do solar. Something really good on the ravioli is basil pesto or a white sauce. Target has a nice jar basil pesto with pine nuts. I’m not fond of the white sauce after making my home made. Love to watch your content ! Safe travels 🚎

Sure, test it in other spots before returning that not stealthy contraption😂 I love ChatGPT and didn’t know you could speak to it. I’m a retired nurse. Could be a useful device for night charging, if it does generate a meaningful amount of electricity while stationary and you park at an authorized place like Walmart. But it's probably very dangerous to drive with it on as it can snap off and really hurt someone. I may add something like this to my hurricane kit (South Florida).

Had thought about this on my stealth camper for sometime around coastal areas. My issue was producing enough power and the corrosion from salt air. I am not sure what your turbine truly was but if I calculated it correctly your only at 5 watts for 40 mph speed. I would install a very high amp alternator and have it on dc to dc switch so your able to switch it on and off to really get a benefit from running the engine when needed. I have a 250 amp alternator on my stealth honda element which is another real stealth camper vehicle
