Just got my first mirrorless last week, and have been getting frustrated over the screens and getting them to look as I want them. After watching this video, I feel as if I now have my camera where I want it. Your descriptions also make everything so much easier to understand. I am both a bird photographer and a studio photographer and now feel much more comfortable taking this camera out to capture images. Oh, and I love that you mentioned the AWB(W) setting as I did not realize that the menu had options that I had not scrolled over to see. Thank so much. I have subscribed and will check out what other goodies you have that may make my mirrorless journey a bit smoother. Thanks so much Daniel!

Hey Randy Camera! I am thrilled to hear that the videos are helping you out! There are a lot of settings on these new cameras. Something like 200 pages in the manual. The EOS 500 had maybe 20 pages. Crazy how far cameras have come.

Thanks for making this video, I just bought new strobes and my VF was completely dark while trying to shoot with them, was so frustrating because I knew there was a setting just didn’t know where to find it! Problem solved. Thanks!

Another awesome and timely review! I didn’t know a firmware was released for the R6. Love the viewfinder brightness auto function. I usually shoot ice hockey indoors with a very bright ice background, but the lighting indoor is dim, then also do outdoor shooting of wildlife and need to jack up the brightness. We’ll see if this helps out! Thanks!!

Hey Pete! Glad it helped! The firm ware had been out for almost a month but truth be told I just updated it recently haha. I am also looking forward to seeing if the auto function is as good as it should be. How is the R6 treating you for the hockey 🏒 I am interested to see if it fills the sport photographers needs like it was suppose to.

@@DanielWhiteWithCanon The camera has been AMAZING with ice hockey. Took a few sessions to tweak the settings with the tracking, lighting, etc. but got it pretty dialed in for 99% of the shots I take. I have two lenses now. The primary weapon is the CANON RF 70-200 2.8, which is small, light, and just awesome. I just picked up a Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM and use he adapter to connect it to the R6 for wildlife, but also used it for hockey and found it worked very well. Especially since I usually have to shoot from center ice to be able to get over the glass and my son is at either end in net. So, cuts down on the cropping and even with the 6.3 at 6000mm, the camera does a great job of capturing enough light to get sharp photos (I think I’m usually in the 250-300mm range most of the time so probably not at the full 6.3, but closer to 5.6. Love it! The tracking and AF work great with the adapter. No issues.

@@petegalindez9961 very nice it’s good to hear it is killing it for sports! Mechanical shutter or electronic?

@@DanielWhiteWithCanon Mechanical shutter primarily. I usually take about 400 shots over the span of a game, and having grown up playing, I have a good idea when to snap, so I don’t usually spray and pray. However, the one game where I tested out the electronic shutter I shot 1,200 photos! It worked very well, but I don’t think I captured anything I would not have captured otherwise. I will test it again soon. BTW, I like one of the other updates with firmware 1.2 where it puts a blank screen in between shots while shooting fast to help with fast moving action looking through the viewfinder. Haven’t tried it yet, but will next week.

Hi, is that "smooth " option which allows to better evf preformance working only on RF lenses or adapted too ? i have problem with laggy (fps down) look when it's little darker ... using adapted 35L 1.4 first edition.

The smooth setting only effects the refresh rate of the EVF. The RF lenses speeds are more effected by a low battery than low light.

Why thank you! I think that there is a large divergence between the large youtubers and the average user. They have the funds that are made by using their gear to put it towards more gear and so the extra thousand isn't a big deal to them.
