We own these same chairs and love them. They are expensive, but they are in a class all of their own. Extremely well-built. We like the ability to recline (or not), the ability to rock (or not), and the fact that the way the chair hangs, the ground does not have to be level. Also, when we leave the campsite for a time, we can easily remove the chair and stow it out of sight, and leave the frame where it is. We do find tucking it back in the case is a bit of a challenge though. We stow ours underneath the front dinette seat (in a 2020 T@B 400). We bought ours when Moosejaw had them on sale for 25% off.

The way they pack up is what really sold us. Space is a premium for us like other RVers.

Recently purchased 2 of these chairs from REI when they had a co-op members discount. Tried them last weekend for the first time and LOVE them. Worth every penny we spent on them--so comfortable. I sat in mine for several hours with my laptop doing some work (wasn't able to completely get away from the work responsibilities, but could enjoy the outdoors while I did it), and it was wonderful. Enjoyed reclining and looking at the stars in the evening and enjoying the campfire. We were impressed by your review, Pat, and so glad we took your advice and purchased them--the big camp chairs have been removed from our camping gear and replaced with these--we couldn't be happier with them. Thanks for the recommendation.

YEAH!! So glad you love them. We love them too. I sometimes joke with Patty that we could still return them and she always says "Absolutely NOT!" They are just so comfortable, easy to assemble and work so well space wise for us when packed away.

Clear, concise and informative video. You answered all of my questions. Yes, it’s expensive, but you are paying for a well designed product made with quality materials and quite honestly something that is unique in camping chairs. If you’re going to sit around a fire, this is the chair to do it in. Thanks for the video.

Great review! We bought one this summer, at your recommendation. Took it up north the the cottage and it was a hit. Almost every time I came outside, someone was in it. But they always gave it up to me. Great family! And as I tried it out in the living room, I fell asleep. It is surprising how easy it is go get out of it. REI carries them or maybe one of the smaller ones. So try it out! Thanks Patty and Patrick.

We tested a lot of them too. We did find comfortable ones for a lot less money but they tended to be big and bulky. We wanted ones that folded down to a manageable size.

We really like them. It took me about a week to finally convince myself to spend the money. Now I’m really glad we did. I think they will lady a really long time.

Those chairs look temptingly comfortable, but Brie might have trouble getting in and out. She likes to be the same as us. 🙃 Safe travels! Have a fun time at the next campout.

That was the main reason we bought them was for the size. Now we love them for how amazingly comfortable they are.

You had me until I saw the price on Amazon. Wow! I about fell out of my comfy $50 office chair. I have no doubt it's well made, comfortable, compact, and everything else but I just can't justify that amount for one chair. Thanks for the review. Maybe I'll win one someday! ha

They are definitely pricey! When I first saw the price I said absolutely no way. A week later we still hadn't used our old chairs on the trip so I decided to give it a try. We are glad we did.

It's slightly cheaper on the company's site.

Your video was very helpful for putting mine back into the case. Anything that arrives with ties and tape to fit it for shipping isn't going to go back easily and for me, that's the case here. I enjoyed it on my terrace in NYC for almost 2 hours. I'm usually not comfortable enough to be out there that long. The only negatives for me are the chair back rods - they'll send shorter ones so kudos for that but I think they should ship with those. Also, the case is not for a city pedestrian. I'll use my Helinox as a portable option and this for home or local travel.

The. chairs in this video sell for around $225 each. They are NEMO brand and we purchased them at REI.

Excellent reveiw! I've watched several videos about this chair but none have the detail that you describe. Wonder if y'all still use these chairs as it's been almost a year & a half... found anything better? Was looking at the Yeti chairs but at 13lbs & $300, YIKES!

I'm wondering if the case is flexible/compressable at all when it's all packed up. I'd love to get a couple of these chairs, but the storage space that we have in the back of our skoolie has an opening that is only 6" wide. I'm wondering if I'll be able to get them in.

The case is a soft material so there is some give

Are you able to use the cup holder when sitting in it? I have found that the seat curves around your legs making the cup holder veer out horizontally.

We have used it. No real issues for us

LOVE our Nemo 3-person tent (same as yours 🙂) and Nemo mattresses!! Quality and packability are in all of their products. Question: Does the chair feel supportive on your low back to maintain natural curvature/ neutral pelvis, or does the back of the chair stretch/sag outward so that the low back curves out? Thanks! PS: As a Canadian, I don't think I can support your store through Amazon.CA... Right?

I feel like the chair is supportive on the lower back. Especially compared to other bag chairs. I’ve taken several naps in it and have never felt like I needed to get up due to my back hurting. I don’t think we’re on the Canadian Amazon site. REI also carries them over if you have them in Canada.

I got this chair for my birthday last month. Although it is comfortable, if you have mobility issues it is not the chair for you. I suffer from Fibromyalgia and this chair causes a lot of pain and it's impossible to get up out of. Wish I could send it back. :(

I dont see it supporting 300 lb I have bad knees so getting out of a chair is a struggle my hands have to be above my knees for the proper leverage I didnt see arm rests which is what I usually lift from

According to the Nemo specs, it says it’s rated for 300#. I’m 240 and it’s fine for me. I live the side handles to assist getting in and out

I have painful knees and wrist so getting up out of this chair is almost impossible. I got one last month and didn't realize they are so close to the ground. Wish they sat up taller

Wow! I wonder if NEMO is not making them anymore. I know REI and Amazon were selling them. There was a recall a year and half ago on a part but ours were not part of that recall.

It begs the question, if your old chairs were always buried under stuff and you were too lazy to get them out how does this new chair prevent that???

Thanks for your question. These are significantly smaller and lighter weight so we put them on top now. The old chairs were heavier and bulkier and had to be placed on the bottom and near the back. They may not work for you but they have been great for us for over 3 years now. God bless.

Wasn’t sure how else to contact you....just saw an add on Facebook by a company called Hip Nomad. They are selling a Stargaze knock off. In their ad, they use a video clip of you endorsing Stargaze, but crop the video so that you can’t see the brand. They are implying that you endorse their product.

This chair is definitely not a backpacking chair.

Bring mesh seems like one ember from the camp fire would destroy the seat

I must have a newer version of this chair because I cannot get mine into the case with the small back supports still on the chair. I also have to fold the headpiece down as he shows and then fold the headpiece down again. Then, I can do a very messy roll-up of the entire chair and quickly cram it all into the case. I am usually too embarrassed to attempt this while at camp. I throw it into my SUV and do it when I get home and after I rinse the smoke smell off of it. Great chair, though. Everyone comments on it. However, I find it comical that this youtube video has had over 50K views. Looks like I'm not the only one to spend way too much time trying to solve the chair folding mystery.

These are not that compact. The overall storage bag is only a couple inches than a cheap folding 15.00 camping chair. Seems very unstable when we tested them out,

They definitely are a bit pricey. We were reluctant at first because of it. But now we’re glad we bought them. They are super comfortable and they fold up fairly small. Most comfortable chairs we found were heavy and bulky. I think a lot of the price is wrapped up in the materials used to construct them. They are high end materials.

The product we reviewed is the Nemo Stargazer Deluxe that sells for over $200 from reputable retailers like REI. A foreign company stole our thumbnail photo and have been using it illegally to sell their knockoff chairs. Because they are not located in the US, there is not much recourse for us in terms of them using our photo.

They're like $60 for a knock off on Amazon. I would put money on the fact that they come out of the same Chinese factory. If you want, I can order one, draw some cool branding on it and sell it to you for $220. I will even give you a 1 year warrantee with a no questions asked replacement garantee up to one time.
