This turntable was recently on sale for $55 (!), but it's now back up to $129.99. I'm impressed that it has a motor speed sensor. I just wish the headshell was removable.

Nice unit. My daughter found a late ‘90s Aiwa player at Goodwill for $10. I took the bottom off to blow out the dust and found a sealed replacement stylus and a spare belt inside. Plays and sounds great.
Just bought this a week ago. Didn’t know anything about record players. This player is a great entry level and bang for buck at $55. Great review
LIKE number 13. Great in-depth review, Record-ology. It's such a relief when a turntable manufacturer actually cares about making a decent turntable for consumers that operates properly and at a great price point too which is perfect for Christmas shoppers out there. :)
Record-ology, I just bought an insignia record player for around $60 after having trouble with a victrola suitcase player not sounding great. If it weren't for your channel I probably would've never gotten into records and I would've thought that all records sounded bad. God bless you!
This is actually quite an amazing turntable for the price! The speed frequency control system seems very effective, and when you were handling the tonearm, there didn't appear to be any 'play', or free movement in the arm bearings, which is almost unheard of in a deck at this price-point! Excellent! The less free-play/movement in the arm bearings the better - no rattling around in the bearing to disturb and colour the sound signals, or even add friction to the needed movement of the arm.... Best Buy/Insignia/Leetek have done a good job there.... For $130 I'd say it's hard to beat...... Grat video, thanks! :-)
I actually purchased this because of your review and am glad I did! Yes it is very similar to the Heyday turntable but much improved. It has all the features that the Heyday has with a much improved tighter tone arm and an included headphone jack/amp so you don’t need speakers or separate amp. It just gives you more options depending on your needs or mood. I like the headphone jack it drives my over ear Sennheiser over ear headphones just fine. I think a headphone jack should be a standard feature in future turntables as a lot of people listen to headphones nowadays. For those who are wondering this is a manual table but the tone arm will stop when your record ends to protect the stylus. Thank for the review.

So how's it holding up? i'm really debating over the heyday or insignia. Please please reply and help me out here!! I really don't know what to buy.
I picked this up for 50 bucks last week. So far I'm impressed with the features and price. Great starter turntable.
Thanks for posting. Purchased before I saw the review and everything seems to work to my expectations.
Insignia products have always been rock solid, this sounds like its no exception to that rule. Whenever this goes on sale again, I might have to pick this up and begin collecting. It's cool that vinyl has made a comeback about 30 years after it was taken off the market. Give it time and CDs will do the same.

Looks like a great turntable for a teen or young adult just getting into vinyl. The speed sensor is awesome! Wow, none of my early Sony TT's bought at Best Buy in the 90s had that and always required adjustments. That is has a counter weight, and antiskate is awesome. It looks like it's better than the double entry Audio Technica lp60 with the dreadful spring-loaded counter balance. Definitely a great deck for young people just finding an interest in having records
I bought this for $55 when it was on sale, and I put a 2M Red on it. I'm loving it! I immediately went and bought two more for Christmas gifts before the sale ended.

Great Review man, Spam of wood, Haha. I’m on the market for a cheap turntable and I appreciate the direct audio sample which is spot on. Most reviewers forget the most important thing, the quality of the output.
I just bought this because of this video! Very very happy with it. Watching some of your other videos I noticed that the House of Marley turntable looked really similar. Uses the exact same headphone jack, and even has the same optical system for the speed. The version with Bluetooth even has the same volume knob. With a little bit of research it looks like the House of Marley model looks like it was also made by Leetac.
Picked this up, 2 weeks ago, open box excellent condition. Paid 100 bucks. A great TT for that price. Optical speed sensor, good cart, anti skate.
MDF is really good at absorbing vibrations. It’s the preferred “wood” for speaker cabinet builds.
recently I picked up a technics vintage turntable at a thrift store for $20, all it needed was a new belt. it sounds great. best turntable i own

Fair play- this was a better turntable than I anticipated. At this rate, we will have to call you " Mr. Turntable".
I have this turntable, and have only found one "nitpick" so far. I've been digitizing a lot of my old, obscure records, and there's one, a "Sounds of the Space Age" flexible disc which was originally an insert in a 70's era National Geographic magazine, the platter stops spinning on each side of the record a few seconds before the content is finished playing. I'm guessing the disc has "non-standard" spacing toward the end, since it's a really thin flexible record. Not going to blame the turntable for that, but the record used to play all the way through on older turntables I had in the past.
I have been shopping for a first turntable for the last couple of weeks that doesn't break the bank. This is now pretty high on my list, especially with the optical speed control. Great review!

45 rpm on 12' ? NICE QUICK VIDEO VERY CLEAR AND DONE. SOUNDS GREAT HOOKED UP WITH THE DIRECT LINK UP. NICE....!!
Wish I saw this video when it was on sale. Hopefully another one comes up. But I’m also looking at an Audio-Technica AT-LP60X since it’s only $10 more when both are at retail price. They both look so appealing.
Been thinking about getting one of these. Seems like a good turntable for the price and good step upward from my all in one. I do wonder how bad the inner groove distortion would be on certain records though. I'm also considering the new Audio Technica AT LPGO BT which seems to be a Walmart exclusive variation of the LP60. I'm surprised nobody's done a side by side comparison since both turntables are probably fierce competitors in the market

I picked up the lpgo and I'm loving it haven't got the blu tooth speakers yet I'm running through a very nice receiver I found at thrift store for 10 bucks and some old hard wired speakers
I really wish you would have covered the installation of the counterweight. Based on reviews on the Best Buy site, this is a bugaboo for quite a few purchasers and showing the process would be helpful. Also, I'm surprised you did not note the similarities between this table and the House of Marley unit you tested some time ago. Looks to me like the same unit, but HOM "upgraded" the plinth and doubled the price.
I bought the Insignia record player a few months ago over the Ars because of the similar price point and the addition of the adjustable counterweight and anti skid. However I was hesitant at first because the wow and flutter listed on the site was 0.35%, worse than the ars. But then I go to the store and check out the box in person and the box listed it as 0.30%. Then getting it home the manual says 0.25%. None the less, I’ve been real happy with this turntable considering the last one I had was my parents old Fisher (model unknown). I have it hooked up to one of those cheap hybrid tube amps and a pair of Sony three-way speakers and it sounds great. Oh yea, I watch KZread videos on my TV and the direct feed of your quad record was kind of decoded on my 5.1. The flutes were coming out the rear speakers. It sounded neat.
Just got this as of July 4th for $60 shipped from bestbuy thanks 👍
I'm now going to order this! Too good to pass up!
Looks like a cute starters turntable - every basic feature is there to get started. 18:30 If you accidentally stripped the wood, you should get some matches. Cut the phosphor heads off and use the wooden sticks to fill up the hole in the wood. Now you can screw in your woodscrew yet another time.

I'd say it's an excellent buy. I was really impressed with the sound quality
it has an optical phase lock loop speed regulator. AWSOME ! back in the old days only technics had thiz. depending on the design these things can have an accuracy of .001 % speed error.

This one is very similar to the Heyday (target house brand) turntable that I recently got, but this one has a 45 adapter storage post! I wish mine had that, that adapter likes to slide off the plinth and have to be careful not to lose it. If it's anything like the Heyday it's an awesome table and I love mine. The cartridge is supposed to be slightly off to the left like that, on my Heyday table it's the same way and alignment with a Baerwald protractor is spot on.
I went vintage with a Sony PS-X55, which I loved so much that I bought TWO of ’em! Nothin’ beats quartz-locked direct drive. Peace.
Excellent review. And then you played RIDE(!) 10/10
YESSS THANK YOU
This actually looks like a really good record player. Nice find!
Record ology I learn lot from you about quality of turntables my friend 😅😅😊
Now that a year has past can you still recommend it or do you have second thoughts about it?
Those people know how to build a great turntable for not a lot of money. I have the Heyday turntable and I like it very much. It seems to have the same issue as that insignia. The cartridge looks tilted on it. I made a plastic washer and placed it between the cartridge and the holder and it looks much better.

Hi there! Based on your review I bought this! Quick question I bought an additional preamp. Can that be used since this has a built in preamp?
Awesome review!!!! I am back to listening to vinyl thanks to you brother!!! Question... What is that black thing connected to the turntable??? And where can I buy one??? Do you recommend I buy an automatic turntable, direct-drive Technics on eBay??? I am subscribed, and will be buying some merch for me and wifey on your website!!! Thank you for your hard work. Peace , brother
How did you remove the cover? I couldn’t figure out how to get it off. I thought it would just slide right off but it wasn’t the case for me
I just got a used one of these. It's worked great for days, now all of a sudden it has a mind of its own. Sometimes I can't get it to spin, other times it starts spinning even when the tone arm is docked. Any ideas?
Not a bad looking unit. Thanks for the review. Just picked up a Walmart-exclusive copy of Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “Ghosts of Christmas Eve” today on white vinyl. Sounds great on the Pioneer PL-8, which has no Bluetooth capabilities whatsoever. Edit: any recommendations on whether a record weight is a good idea on a direct drive unit?

It’s unnecessary imho
When considering eligible countries, you might want to consider that this is an AC powered unit, designed for 120V 60Hz, via a type A (NEMA 1-15P) plug. One of the advantages to the DC powered units is that, with the appropriate wall wart, they can be used anywhere in the world.

These are back on sale for 59.99, bought one open box but it came very busted up. Ordered another new one, hoping it works out.
I found a brand new one selling for $100, i got it and it’s great! The only thing wrong with it is the mat it comes with. It left little fuzzies on my records so I got a leather one :)
Enjoying your videos. I will likely subscribe. When you can afford it, I would recommend a wireless microphone such as the Rode Go. It will really improve the audio quality of your videos over the camera microphone.

We have used audio Technica lavs in the past…and rode shotguns etc…. Right now I’m using a Boya shotgun but it’s so echoey in there I have to eat the mic or I sound distant. It’s a constant battle 😂😂😂
are you able to align the cartridge with the protractor or is it fixed?
I see there is a r/l plug for speakers. Can you do both bluetooth and speakers at the same time? And I assume you just plug and play the speakers if you want to use them, correct? Or is an amp needed?
So in 2023 now, regular price is still $130, but the deal of the day price that I got it for was $80. I have always enjoyed home audio and home theater. I decided I wanted to try vinyl so when I saw this on sale, I figured that now is the time to try it out. It will be delivered to me today. So hopefully over the next week or two I’ll have it set up. The only speakers that I own anymore that aren’t a soundbar or Bluetooth are my B&W DM 601 and 602 S2’s (bought the 602’s back in high school over 20 years ago) so I’ll be trying it with those and my older Sony home theater receiver to start with. Also have some Audio-Technica ATH-M50X I can try. Otherwise I guess I start trying to find a budget 2-ch receiver and a different set of speakers. I’m excited. For my first albums I’ve picked up The White Stripes - Elephant, Steely Dan - AJA, and The Beatles - Rubber Soul. If it all goes well I plan on picking up all different genres of music from the 60’s to now. I’ll be interested to see how some rap/hip-hop sounds along with maybe some jazz or blues. I’ll have to watch some videos on setting up the turntable and make sure I get things done properly. I also read somewhere about a suggested upgrade of the stylus with the LP Gear CFN3600LE. I figure for about $40 it would be worth a shot later. If anyone has suggestions for anything or criticism of anything I’ve said, go ahead and respond and I’ll listen since I’m new to all of this.
Would be cool if there were a fully automated version. Hard to full auto turntables and even harder to find a direct drive with full auto. I'm going to have to get a vintage one, maybe I can find one that has been serviced. This one is really good for the price, you can't really complain when there are $500 tables that really don't sound any better.

What Speakers would you recommend to connect to this without an amplifier?
This thing is currently on sale. What kind of speakers should I get if I buy this?
Hi I am listening to vinyl singles atm and the cracking in the sound is awful is there any way to clear it up or is there a better vinyl player I can buy thanks.
I didn't know that even Best Buy has their own turntable. I've seen similar cheap turntables including an Audio-Technica cartridge except this one has an adjustable counterweight and anti-skate which you normally otherwise see on higher-end turntables like the AT-LP120X. However, this one doesn't have a removable headshell or USB so you'll need a 3.5mm to RCA to record but you'll need a Line In jack which are found on desktops (most laptops don't have it). I don't know if there's a difference between USB or analog (RCA to 3.5mm) recording although the USB could be convenient to laptops like my AORUS 15G which lacks a Line In recording.
I just got this turntable recently as a gift. Do you know if it's able to connect to a Google Home speaker via Bluetooth? I've been trying and can't seem to figure it out. I was able to connect to an old Mini Jambox but no luck with the Google.
Ignoring the price difference, how do you feel this compares to the AT-LP60XBT?
Aaaah - should have waited until the end of the video! Sorry :D Is there a grub screw to adjust the arm tube? Looks like a nice deck though :D

I believe so….
A Best Buy commercial came on during your video. The Enoch Light song did not sound weird. It can only sound like a regular stereo record if it's not played with a Quad decoder. If anything, the sound on the extra two channels may be hidden without a Quad decoder.
@geraldmartin7703
2 жыл бұрын
You are correct. Regular stereo without the decoder. (I'm old).
My Phillips minicomponent only has a 3.5 Jack input (I connect My Xbox one and I play movies so the sound plays on the system's speakers). Also it has bluetooh so I play My phone's Spotify through it just Fine. My question is, can I play this turntable on my system even if it doesn't have RCA ports?
So, basically a Heyday with some tweaks. A revised tone arm, and a built-in headphone amplifier. Not bad at all. The Heyday still sells for $100, the additional $30 for this isn't out of line. One of the complaints with the Heyday is that the tone arm is kind of wobbly; does this revised tone arm correct that? If so, the extra $30 is DEFINITELY worth it. It would seem that there was a miscommunication between the design team and the company who made up the packaging.

Do you need speakers for these ? or is it optional.

Yes Real Great Sounds Great
Just got one of these in the mail today it's to upgrade my suitcase player with. I found an Audio Technica LP3 on Amazon for like $173 with tax and everything which was a deal but the thing is I would have had no decent powered speakers to use. I just wanted something with a counterweight that did bluetooth and this one did that. That's why I didn't go with the cheap Audio Technica Bluetooth player which my local walmart has for $159 is I want to get away from the spring weighted and into an actual counterweight with anti skid. Hopefully this one will do me for a while until I can afford something much better and decent powered speakers. I have this amazingly loud good quality bluetooth party speaker I can use with this.
I recently got one but the volume is very low. How do I fix it?
I wish some company would start making changers again. The main thing I dislike about turntables like these is you have to handle it every time 1 side of a record has been played.
I bought mine in November as a "Deal of the Day" for $55, then had a $5 reward on my Best Buy loyalty card! Think I stole it, all things considered. I came here after watching your Five Below $25 unit review
I just bought one off eBay $65 plus shipping…. The problem is wire into speakers and on Bluetooth it’s not playing out of one speaker…. Any suggestions?? How to fix??
Fantastic
Is that headshell slightly out of kilter (azimuth)? Or looks like the cartridge isn't parallel to the vinyl (leaning in towards the centre of the platter). Might just be me though...

Mine sounds like it’s scratching the record. I have it set at 3 for the anti shake and the weight is at 0 I’ve tried them all
I have to agree, if this turntable had a removable headshell it would be a winner, but then the Audio Technica LP-60 would be too, beggers can't be choosers, you get what you pay for. Back in the day it was not very common to get a highly customizable turntable, it was preset to play the records right
I would much rather see people, who are getting into vinyl for the first time, use this turntable instead of the suitcases. It seems like it’s safer for the record and I think the quality will be so good that they continue on with vinyl.
