Well like any store card the rewards go back to the store. The $5 rewards do expire after a short amount of time but you can if you have multiple $5 rewards is add all of them together for one purchase. If you really want to use the rewards remember best buy in stores sell snacks so if you want to be cheap and use the rewards buy $6 - $7 worth of snack just to pay $1 - $2. What I really got it for is the financial plan on big purchases over I think $400 - $500 on best buy items with no interest rates. In addition you only have to use it once every 12 months to keep the account open. So it's a very easy, low maintenance card, with a great financial offers which makes me love the card.

I’ve had my Visa Platinum card for a few years and honestly I got it when I was rebuilding my credit so I was happy to have it. The perks could be better but it comes in handy for large purchases, free shipping etc.If they made the rewards not exclusive for BB I would use it more often.

Great card to build internal score with Citi Bank if you are stuggling to get approved. Also high limit primary.

i've had it for a couple of years. i don't buy that often at bb but i was surprised at all the ongoing promotions they do for additonal bonus points. at first, rewards expired but you can now bank them and use them when you want. only con is there is no cash back option.

Just got mine for 3000 just started rebuilding my credit no bad credit paid off all my credit cards years ago about 14 years now starting all over doing good also thanks to all of your good advice.

If you're ever running low on content ideas, you should start reviewing some of the smaller/ more obscure credit cards from credit unions. You'd be surprised at some of the great cards that are out there issued by smaller institutions. From Bayport Credit Union to Abound Credit Union, there's a lot of good options!

I grabbed the BB rewards credit card a couple months ago when they had a special promo going. Used it to buy a $1,700 TV, and got $250 in rewards, which I then used to buy a new vacuum. I only got it for the promo; I doubt I'll use it again.

Citi is a finicky cat for sure. I had the store card then they offered an "upgrade" to the Visa card but I have no annual fee. Same very low (for me) limit.

I got the store card many years ago and barley use it, the only reason I got it was to get the no interest financing, pretty much useless for me anymore

Adam, I wish they had like a preapproval process to see if you could get approved. I think I tried at one time and Citi flat out denied me. Citibank is very touchy on Inquiries and blemishes on peoples credit. They also have the home depot credit card and won't approve me either. To me they are a garage bank why offer store cards if you are afraid of blemishes or inquiries etc. Citi is to strict for me when it comes to there cards and bank. Appreciate the video. Your thoughts or Data points?

Besides a credit union card, the Best Buy store card was the first card I got when I was getting my credit back online. Just like you I got a $2,000 limit, which I still have!

@@RIP.BIG092MLBOA Yes!. You will be billed 30days later and on the recurring date 📅 and you will be issued a digital card for online purchases outside of BB. BE CARFUL. I was on a plan for a speaker and then I purchased gas. Unlike other card company. Best Buy charges the maximum interest (starting from the moment of purchase) for outside BB..I was paying (I thought) on the speaker but the payments were just covering the gas and interest. I called ( Best Customer Service on the planet) and the rep said, if you pay this amount it will reset an all monies will resume going towards your payment plan. Just know if you buy something outside of BEST BUY.... pay it IMMEDIATELY to stay on track. Hopefully my misfortune helps... Goodluck.!👍

I have the Best Buy store card and I usually se it about twice a year. Recently I hadn't used it for 14 months. When I did use it for a $40 flash drive my Chase Experian VantageScore dropped 5 points. And that was 3 days after it jumped eight points. The sole reason given was "A previously dormant card became active." I wonder if the algorithm interprets that as a possible stolen card. Anyway, I paid it off the day it posted. I think the lesson here is to use cards at least once every 6 months. 5 months would probably be better to make sure it gets inside a 6-month statement window.

@@Rynergy99 I just had a 22-point jump in my Experian FICO 9. The prior month I had just 1 of 17 accounts report $9 balance. Then I let five accounts post 1% or less utilization. BOOM! Worthwhile experiment.

I have also found that to be a problem. They always disappear before I can benefit from them. If you finance the purchase, they charge interest on the entire amount, not just the balance due.

So two things: 1. You can call their help line and have them reenstate the expired certificates. I've done it before. 2. If you have the credit card you can bank points, so certificates never auto generate. You'll only generate certificates when you're about to use them. I LOVED that feature, but I because I waited until I got to the register to generate the certificates and they'd be available that very instant.

Some strategies you can implement that I do is...bank the points instead of auto issuing a certificate. I'm not sure if they still require you to spend a certain amount each calendar year ($1500) in order to unlock that feature. If that's the case, some ways to put spend on the card is wait for their 10% in cash back deals to come around. They offer random categories like 5% back on restaurants, travel, transit etc. I like to buy gift cards like Google play cards when the 10% cash back rolls around. I use Google play points for any subscriptions I may have through the okay store but primarily for KZread premium. It's also great for getting Netflix gift cards if that's something you sub to. I also like Airbnb. Uber and door dash are great if those are services you use too. Even Amazon gift cards. Then when it comes time to redeem for a certificate I usually have some random piece of tech I've been waiting to buy or like a Christmas gift I get someone. I applied for this card long ago when I didn't know anything about credit. Although I wouldn't apply for it today, it's honestly kinda good for the 5-10% cash back. Oh and sometimes they have nice deals on gift cards without the credit card.

What happens if I buy things at different times with promo financing. Say $500 on 12 month and $1000 on 12 month just a month later. What does it apply my payment to? Both?

I have very good credit. Went in to buy a laptop, they had done special I’d you applied for a card. The kid ran it THREE TIMES and it was denied every time. I’ve heard of this from others as well. Fortunately I was able to get the Inquiries removed, but it pissed me off. Left without buying anything.

I regret having this card it's pretty useless to me I only have it to keep the age of the cards. What bothers me the most is I think this was my fifth card I didn't know much about cards then. Anyways I applied for it they gave me the one with the annual fee best buy only I think after a year I was told I could try getting the no annual fee version. So I did but they told me I have to close the first account then apply again I do and basically I applied for this crappy card twice and I don't even use it.

Glad we use Debit only, as payment🙏 in mine country.

@Shawn S I understand that, but im glad we are using debit card as a regular card. You pay directly, what’s on your bank account, and if not you can stand (red) to lend, don’t recommend that but. No extra cost, for the card, no transaction cost etc. There is no benefit for me atleast😉

No it shouldn't. It's on your credit. You will get a hard credit check but if you pay in the time frame no interest.

No, can't change from a store card to a standard bank card.

When you apply you will get approved for rather both the platinum and the store card if not then it will be the gold on its own

You can finance anytime as long as they have a promotion or a set spend limit on the card in regards with how much your credit limit is

I'm interested in this card specifically for the differed financing on PC components. PC gaming/building is one of my hobbies. I don't care about any of the other 'benefits'. 767 fico. I only put debt on CC's that I have cash in hand to pay off. I'm thinking with the appropriate mindset, I'm about the only type of individual this card actually holds value for? Might pull the trigger on this one.

So the only way is if they automatically upgrade you or you call best buy card services, they cant upgrade you in the store tho without reapplying and not have a active card atm

Spoke with a rep yesterday. They said you can request an increase through the app as many times as you want but of course if you ask multiple times in a short period, your score will go down. She recommended every 3-4 months.

@@YSo_Joker on the contrary, because your credit line went up, your utilization goes down which could actually improve your score. As for the second question I don’t think it should affect you manually requesting an increase since they automatically gave you an increase but I would call for that just to be sure.

If I had to make a suggestion to someone in the credit card game, don't get store Credit Cards! They really have no huge upsides value compare to other cash back and Travel cards!

Wait for your inquiries to fall off (takes two years from the original pull), use your household income and have a utilization of 5% or lower. Also you want a higher score of at least 700. I couldn't get it until I had 750.

You don't want a Best Buy card Believe me. This card is a ripoff. The interest rates are ridiculous. I was accepted for a Best Buy credit card and I bought a phone that was $850 with it. My minimum payments were $29 a month. But instead I paid $100 so I can pay off the card quicker. By the time I got the car down to $200 they charged me a $236 interest fee. I was like wtf really. I'm telling you right now this card is a rip off Don't go for it. Or they're just going to drain your pockets

Best buy products are so ridiculously overpriced though. Why buy a single HDMI cable for $20 at Best buy and when you can get a 3 pack for $10 at eBay? No amount of cash back will justify that.

Card has an extensive way to keep you from paying promo balances off. Defaults to your revolving balance and requires 15-20 minutes per expiring promo to set up overage towards promos. Scam of a card

Dumb card is not worth it.

How early before the due date did you pay those balances? I've maxed out this card, and they've never given me issues on payments. Interest only matters if you can't pay the card off before the interest starts.
