    @oxfoot so you prefer sleeping in this vs the topper?

    @@damonphalin6023 no RTT would take me away from my topper but I realize that way more people like the RTT so I like doing reviews of them since there’s not much reviews on these tents.

    Good overview. This is a knockoff of the Free Spirit Recreation Odyssey. I have one of theirs and I love it. I leave the "back" window open all the time except in the dead of winter. One tip is you can roll or fold that back window flap up and tuck it in a little bit. It gives you a little bit of shelf for a water bottle, phone, etc. without having to throw them in those pockets all the way up at the roof. For those wondering the FSR tent has quite a few advantages, but it is about $500 more. It's got a better ladder (solves the clearance issue mentioned in the video,) better material (insulated tri-layer,) has the extrusion t-slots on all four sides, the shoe bags are higher quality, it comes with a self-inflating exped style mattress that will allow some bedding storage when deflated with a pump, and there are a couple extra pockets inside. It does not come with roof fails, I think they're about $100-$150 extra. I'm sure they're all made in the same factory. The Wild Land Cruiser is the same tent as this as well.

    Yeah it’s very close to the more expensive FSR. The FSR “factory” is right next to me but I assume most of these tents come from the same place. This one just happens to be cheaper. Maybe if you didn’t like the ladder on this one you could change it out for the FSR haha.

    Yeah I’m 6’4 and I love my odyssey. It is super well insulated, really easy to open, and really good customer service . They had a very minor issue with my mattress and they were so quick to send me a new one along a handwritten apology, a phone call and a new sleeping bag. They will always be my pick after that

    Good video, I’ve been driving or I would have chatted. I heard you talk about moving your tent around a bunch. Not sure if you have room on your ceiling for a hoist? I have a RTT and bought a jeep top hoist on Amazon. Makes it super easy to get it on and off plus to store it. My ceilings are 10’, it works awesome! 💪🏻💪🏻

    I don’t even have a garage sadly. If I did I would have a hoist. We’re on the hunt for a new house so ideally trying to get something with a garage or the biggest would be a shop.

    Another informative vid! Thanks for walking us through. My only regret with my smittybilt xl so far is it doesnt have a trac being its not a hardshell. I think its still one of the few options and best options for larger family camping and u can be comfortable while not cutting ur family short bcuz of not having sufficient space. And i like the annex, the light and power output port it comes with along with a boot bag as well. Do u think you can fit 4 ppl in this setup that you have bro? Im about the same size as you are and im the tallest in my family

  • @OXFOOT

    @OXFOOT

    4 ай бұрын

    If you guys all fit in the smittybilt XL I’d imagine you could fit in here. I’ll double check the inside measurements of both though. The cross bars are great for putting (in my opinion) your light weight bulky stuff on top. Like boxes with bedding or jackets and stuff like that on top. If you put heavy stuff up there you start getting to the point where you have to use the additional poles to hold it up when you sleep for the peace of mind.

  • @OXFOOT

    @OXFOOT

    4 ай бұрын

    So looking online this would be smaller as your smittybiltXL is 92.5”x74.8” and the Crafuel Summitbreeze is 81” x 55”. If you measure that out on like cardboard or some fabric, put that on the floor and then lay down on it and it feels comfortable I’d say it’s a good bet.

    @@OXFOOT thats a great way to test the size difference or if you have enough space at home use painters tape to outline the measurements. One last question is does the crafuel have any "sky lighting" on top like the smittybilt does? That is another feature that i would hate to lose when moving forward

    When inside the tent, if you go on your knees does it sink between the slats? If so, by how much?

  • @OXFOOT

    @OXFOOT

    4 ай бұрын

    Not that I’ve seen. The slats are spaced apart nicely for that. You got the slats and the mounting pole going in perpendicular so it actually holds up nicely. I will say I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the bottom in general as it was a big deterrent at first as I didn’t understand it but now I think it’s a pretty good ideal for weight savings.

    I’ve actually come to like the soft bottom, I have it in my new FSR also. A skylight would be nice but the pole runs right through that center section on this type of tent.
