Hoomya sent me this MD-840 metal detector to review. I spent around 5 hours trying it out, testing coin signals and picking up trash. I was happily surprised how well it identified bottle caps in the ground. You will definitely find some treasure with this, but if you are more serious metal detectorist you might want to pickup something more quality. But you will have some good time with this detector with your kids or if you just do metal detecting rarely. If you are searching for a budget metal detector under 150 dollars you should definitely think about this detector.

Pretty nice machine for the money. I had a cheap $100 Bounty Hunter when I first started detecting and it did surprisingly good. There was only a meter with a needle and no vdi but I still found coins and relics with it.

Clicked US Amazon link one minute ago. $139.96 with a -$40.00 'click coupon' comes to under $100.00 US. If it works even just OK then this is a great kids starting detector at that price. Without the coupon I would advise rather buy Quest X5 for $150.00 Amazon, it is a solid performer at that price.
