    7:22 THATS FANTASTIC ! Every time I use heat gun or a hairdryer, after finishing, I put it to coldest setting possible so it blows away hot air thats still inside/cools down. That way you prologue the life of such machines. The fact that this thing is programed to do it by itself is fantastic, means it should last you a long time. If you just turn off the heat gun, for example, without cooling it down, over some time it will start to fail.

    wouldnt sudden cooling upon being very hot cause nanofractures and actually create wear on the item tho?

    Nice hot air unit. But I still prefer cheapo 858D station with separate base unit. It's hard to fiddle with controls while air gun is in use (for example slow ramp down) vs adjusting temperature on the base unit itself while keeping air gun pointed at the work piece.

    My friend, Fungineers, did you apply flux to remove the SMD leds? I tried to remove the leds from the same PCB you have WITHOUT FLUX or tin, at 680 degrees celsius (about 40 seconds and so), and they stay stuck in the PCB, also, i tried the same heating the backing cover aluminium and nothing. FLUX is a must for SMD desoldering? 🤷‍♂😵‍💫

  • @Papalegba22

    @Papalegba22

    I'm not sure why you would use Flux for de- soldering? Flux is used before soldering so that it flows to where you want it to be.

    Cnc machined? It more look like extruded metal that is probably brushed afterwards (probably to get a rough surface to make nice contact with the nozzle heads). The rest of the body is probably from cheap metal, not alluminium (probably because alu melts at 600c, if the airflow fails and the metal isnt pure, it might oxidice and maybe melt or weaken atleast?) I cant see it too closely but if I where to design a cheap hotair device, I would go for metal extrusion and punching (the blow hole). machining is more costly. Overall a great video tho, happy i found your video. the comment was because I was kinda curious to know why you thought it might be alluminium and cnc machined. (parts I did receive cheaply from china that where machined are either not that nicely machined or not the cheapest availeble. whatever, great video and hope to see more from you.

    Hi! Is it still going strong? Do you still recommend it? I want to fully DIY a cheap FOCer 2 and I managed to find this in a local store, for the same price it's on banggood. Do you recommend it over a non portable hot air station for basically the same price? I am unsure about how comfortable it will be to use it for extended amounts of time because of the weight.

    @@TheRev0 I think the air temperature. With the good Hot air you can decrease the air volume when you are working with tiny component and increase the temperature. Then the component doesn't fly away of the board. The one cheap devices will burn out when you increase the temperature with lower air volume

    The temperature is not actually that stable. The display is 100% lying to you. Looks like it uses an aggressive PID tune so there's going to be some overshoot and oscillation. Same when varying fan speed. With no faking there would be at least a couple degrees variation. Test it out on a surface with a very low thermal conductivity (and mass) with a temp IR sensor if you don't believe me. The fact that they had people fooled is why they fake it.
