Wow! I saw another KZread fisherman using this and I had to learn more about it. I have the Striker 4 and I HATE that I don't have a true map function. I love that this will create a map for you the more you use it. That's amazing. Is it ALWAYS creating that map for you, or do you have to be in that setting for it to create it? Basically, if I'm just using 2D imaging, will the map be created for me when I switch over to the waypoint map? For $60 or $80 more, this may be worth the upgrade for me.

Hello, yes you have to turn on the “QuickDraw” mapping. As you drive around it will create that contour map for you to reference and overlay your waypoints.

Can this work for ice fishing Aswell?

If I had to mount this on the transom of my sib , would the supplied mount be able to swivel up enough to enable me to view the screen ? I ask as most vids have these mounted on a horizontal surface and not a verticle one.

I think I would need to see a picture of what you are trying to mount it to. The cradle on the garmin has a pretty high degree of rotation available.

There are no preloaded maps, so that might it difficult to use for navigation

I fish inshore saltwater with big tide depth changes. Can you make 2 QuickDraw maps of the same area, one for high tide and one for low? Or will a new map write over the original.

I don't believe that is an option for any of the quick draw mapping, unfortunately.

@@goodmanfishing Thank you for the lightning fast response. That's pretty much what I figured. I will map it at high tide and subtract about 7 feet at low tide. Actually, I have done some more research and they have an offset feature where you can compensate for changes in water depth for lakes that change with rain and water release from dams. The challenge for me is that the tides move so quickly that changes in contour will appear to be far more pronounced than they actually are unless I map an area very quickly. Fantastic video!

Not if you’re moving at a fast clip. I love mine but there’s limits. Transducer is mounted to the port stern.

Can it show the trolling speed of my Minnkota Powerdrive ?

It does not take very much to run one. A small sealed lead acid will do it, there's one linked in the video description.
