I recently bought, assembled and tested the Balanceform Bike Trainer. I have to say it’s probably the best budget tire-on bike trainer on the market right now. Setup was straight forward, I did find that the instructions were a little lacking, but heck that’s why I’m here to help out.
After setting up the bike I knew the aggressive mountain bike tire would be loud. So, I purchased a smooth tire to lower the noise levels down to a point where I could listen to music or watch a video.

This was by far the best video demonstration for assembly/setup of the balancefrom bike trainer. It showed close up details in the video which I didn't see on any of the other videos. thank you for your help!!!

Best set up video! I’m not very bicycle savvy so the instruction sheet that was included wasn’t very helpful. With your video I was able to set up super fast and properly. Thank you!

Great video, I think any trainer that will use a roller on a tire is going to be louder than those that use a cassette. But the setup on those is a little more complicated, so it's either easy setup and loud, or more complex setup and quiet.

@@diymountainbike I did what you suggested. Hardly hear anything with the new tire..thanks for the tips!
hey man great videos, maybe add some sound proofing for the room, aswell mic positioning closer too your head, otherwise awesome videos thank you!
Have a Minoura mag turbo similar design unable to fit Roscoe 8. The front bottom cross bar. There is a version with out the cross bar just two legs on front of trainer. Little less stability but more clearance. Works ok with 700cc road bike.

The clearance on some trainers can be tight for 29 in. Especially if you have a larger tire
I've been using this for my EBIKE, I had to do some modification for my axle to fit...replaced the axle cups with threaded pins .working perfectly. However it will not work on my other EBIKE because the motor wire comes in through the ends of the axle.

I've got a few ebikes and understand what your talking about.
Does that trainer only support certain tire sizes? Or can you get different sized trainers?
@diymountainbike

It's best for 26 and 27.5 MTB tires and 700c road. A small 29 inch tire will just barely work, but I don't suggest this trainer for a 29er.
Got a clone of this trainer and my bike tire is dragging on the black bracket under the resistance wheel. Has anyone else run into this/have a solution?
I have the super dumb version of this trainer, without the resistance adjustment cable thing. I actually found it on the street in good condition on recycling day so it's definitely worth the money and gets the job done, but still pretty noisy even with road tire slicks. You can still adjust the resistance though, just not when you're on the bike. I actually just upgraded to a direct drive model with electronic resistance, the Wahoo Core, which should be a massive upgrade from this. I'm looking to get more serious about training and this just wasn't good enough for me anymore, especially with the noise as we have neighbors. But for anyone not looking to spend too much on a trainer who wants to ride indoors several times a week during winter and where noise isn't going to be a problem, and maybe looking to get into indoor riding before committing to a much more expensive unit, it's pretty decent.

@@diymountainbike Yeah these things are amazing. Been riding on it for several weeks now and love it. Now I need to find someone to donate the wheel-on dumb trainer to! 😆
I just want to ride my bike but I’ve moved to where it’s has lots of hills. I’m 66 yrs old. Don’t want the noise. lol. I just raised the tire off the roller completely. Probably not what I’m supposed to do but I have no noise.

I think that's a great idea. You should check out an ebike. Great for hills 🚴🚴
Quick question! Can you connect it to zwift?
@diymountainbike
Ай бұрын
No, this trainer doesn't connect to any apps.
Have you tested the noise with different tyre pressures?
@diymountainbike
Ай бұрын
I didn't test changing the pressure. Changing the tire made a huge difference. The noise seems to be generated from the tread on the tire.
My wheel is off of the magnetic part in the back. Help

Most of these bike trainers work best with 26 inch wheels.

@@diymountainbike thank you. I have 20 so that's why it wasn't working. I ended up taking some very strong tape, those sand paper blocks, shoe laces, and ribbon to make my own contraption so it hits the wheel
Sounds noisy this would drive my neighbor below me nuts ! Any products out there Quieter than having a Motorcycle in your Apartment?

A direct drive trainer is quietest. They can cost a lot more though.
