    You might like These Violent Delights and Our Violent Ends by Chloe Gong if you haven't read it already. Romeo and Juliet retelling, but make it 1920s Singapore Mafia with bug horror

    Yesss I've been looking forward to this video! I'm about to comment a lot, I can tell already lol Girl, I binged the Mindf*ck series while I had the flu and it was oddly the perfect time 😂 I'm so glad My Heart is a Chainsaw made your list I feel like I'm the opposite - been reading so much fantasy/romantasy and want to get back to more horror this year. Thanks again for recommending Magnolia Parks. Such a great and torturous time. The Troop 🙌 in my top 10 too! For bug stuff - They Were Here Before Us: A Novella in Pieces by Eric LaRocca - under 100 pages but some of that imagery is STILL in my brain. Well you haven't said Jawbone yet, so it's gotta be that one? Woo YES! Ahh all of your top 5 are on my TBR already - I need to prioritize them! I really want to read more unhinged women lit too, so I can't wait to get recs. I can guess a couple of your worst of the year, and can't wait!

    I read mindFck on vacation and it was the perfect entertaining read 😂 Ugh my heart was so great!! What were your favorite fantasy/romantasy reads!? I'm overwhelmed by the options lol. I have so many to pick from. I think bonesmith, empire of the Vampire, and mother of death and dawn will be my soonest read one's but idk where to go from there. Great and torturous time summarizes magnolia parks so well 😂 I need to get to the third one asap and finish the series. Ooo okay def adding that to my list!! Hahaha great guess 😆 I'm planning on doing a "weird books" reading vlog either next month or March and i think some may feature some unhinged women 💕 Thanks for watching and your support!! 🫶

    @@WickedScorpio For FanRo, Fear the Flames and Divine Rivals I would rec. Neither are perfect, but I had such a good time with them. Mother of Death and Dawn blows them all away though really hahaha. Ooh looking forward to the weird books vlog! 💖

    I can't wait to add some books to my tbr, got my paper and pen ready ✍️ I totally agree with you on YA. I don't mind reading it, but it has to not feeeeel like YA. LOL little eve 👀👀 I'm really glad you enjoyed it!! I wanted to so bad. 18:49 totally feel you on that. I read soooo much horror last year, which I love, but I definitely wanna branch out more this year 19:41 Hahahahaha same!!! That's why I love reality tv. Okay you're really selling me on magnolia parks 👀 I'm skipping the night and it's moon series portion cause I'm still in the middle of it, but sooo glad it made your top three. I'm excited to finish Yesss Mary!! I need to listen to it on audio! I read it physically originally and still loved it. Best book of 2023 for me. The female rage was sooooo empowering! Omg yes jawbone!!! I had no idea what book it was going to be but I loved jawbone too!! I just read it this month. I read it on audio and I really want to read it physically, especially with the convo parts.

    My horror so far this year has gone horribly, so it's def time to switch it up 😅 We all need a little drama to entertain us. love island, hells kitchen, and dance moms are my outlets 😂😂 dude, Magnolia just hit. Idk if I just read it right at the perfect moment, but I was invested and effected 🥲 The audio of Mary is easily top audiobook experience for me. Seriously amazing. Omg I cannot imagine the audibook for jawbone. I feel like I would be so confused, so good for you!! I'm so happy you loved it too 🫶

    Loved seeing your faves! I also love Jawbone so so much. For me it really encapsulated girlhood friendships. Just so good seeing Curse of the Reaper on a lot of folks faves list. Need to get to it soon!

    The mindf*ck series made my honorable mention last year. It was the perfect vacation book. It was hard to put down. There was bug/insect horror in A child alone with strangers. There were also animals that were hurt (though it was more of a survival setting), so maybe look that up before going into it.

  • @WickedScorpio

    I read it on vacay too lol! Just such great entertainment. Ooo ok ill have to look into that one. I can deal with some animal stuff if it's in a setting like that and serves purpose or if the acts is not overly described. nick cutter just writes imagery too well, and I knew it would be very detailed and probably scar me 😅

    I'm gonna have to say Kingdom of Ash was my favorite this year but Cabin at the End of the World was in my top 10! I really want to read Nat Cassidy this year, and opposite of you I'm planning to try to add more horror into my Fantasy heavy reading lol.

    It's so hard to find a balance sometimes. My horror this year is already not going great, so I need to switch it up before I get in a slump 😅. a lot of people are loving nestlings too by nat cassidy. That one is shorter, so it might be good to start with, but I personally liked Mary way more

  • @happyhauntslibrary
    @happyhauntslibrary7 ай бұрын

    After finishing (and loving) Nestlings, I 10000% need to get to Mary. But not too soon because I’m sure I will expect the same thing from him. I need a little space to forget a little 😂 and you’ve totally convinced me to prioritize Jawbone!! I have an audiobook but I have a feeling I will need a physical copy for this one! Mark me words, I will read The Troop this upcoming summer 😂

  • @WickedScorpio

    @WickedScorpio

    I personally liked Mary much more but I read it first so that may have something to do with it. I don't think I would have been able to appreciate jawbone as much with audiobok only. I would recommend a physical copy to at least follow with! I can't wait to see what you think if it. Yesss I can't wait to see what you think of the troop too 😂
