BEST Benchtop Belt Sander || Bucktool vs Harbor Freight (Part 1)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Reviewing and Comparing the BEST benchtop 4x36 belt disc combo sanders. There are 3 main 4x36" belt/disc combination sanders sold are the market today and I have used all 3 at one time or another. So this video will show and talk about my experiences with each and which I consider to be the best bench top belt and disc sander on the market today. We look at the Bucktool 4x36 belt sander with 8 inch disc, the Harbor Freight 4x36 belt sander with 6 inch disc, and also an old Skil 4x36 belt sander with 6 inch disc. The harbor freight belt sander often goes on sale for $60 so it is half the price of the bucktool belt and disc combo sander but does that mean that the harbor freight belt disc combo sander is half as good? It really all depends on your needs. Which benchtop belt and disc sander will be the best for you? Do you need something compact that can be easily brought out when needed and stored away when not? Or do you need a belt sander with power and the best dust collection I have ever seen? Is the harbor freight or buck tool sander going to be used mostly for woodworking, metal working, professionally, or just on occasion at home for a DIYer? This are all factors that have to be considered when reviewing and comparing a tool to decide which will be crowned the best benchtop belt sander on the market.

    @@BradsWorkbench I have a friend that is going on 85 years old! Still sharp as a tack, I hope I am that way! He has the HF small belt / disc sander! It is noisy as all get. Not sure if it’s a bad bearing or exactly what!! I am not sure if it has always been that way or if something happened and caused it to! All I know is based on that I am a little gun shy. Because of the high RPM and abuse these sander get. Along with a very dirty dusty environment quality counts on a tool like these.

    I need a belt sander with a decent table that can do angles. I was ready to buy the Bucktool BD4802 as most others say they're not rated for metal. I changed my mind when I started reading the amazon reviews where a number of buyers had motors burn up and Bucktool wouldn't stand behind the warranty

    I'm looking at the Bucktool 4x36 w/6 inch, has 3/4 hp on Amazon now for $177. I'm considering this tool for grinding metal for knife making. With the Zirconia belts 60 & 80 grit, would this be enough for knife grinding steel?

  • @BradsWorkbench

    @BradsWorkbench

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, has plenty of power. Also consider the ceramic belts for any grinding of treated/tempered steel u dont want to blue. They do an amazing job keeping the steel cooler. BUT keep in mind, the 6" disc version doesn't come with a full table for the belt side

    I’ve been trying to find a deal on the Porter Cable that’s set up just like this one but been eye balling this one for a while as well. What do you think, is the BuckTool just a rebrand of the Porter Cable if so I’d snatch it up in a heartbeat.
