Best Bench for the Money - Rep Fitness FB-5000 Review

In today's video I take a look at what I consider to be the best flat bench for the money. The Rep Fitness FB-5000 not only delivers some excellent competition spec features, but it does so at a very affordable cost. Let's take a look at why you should consider this bench for your own home gym.

    I have this exact bench with the wide pad and it's great. Been using for about 6 months now with no problems at all. Hefty build, stable, grippy as needed. Just as you say, best bench for your buck. I think the firmness of the padding is spot on. Firm enough to not lose force, but not so much that you can't work your shoulders/traps in a bit. More important, its as firm as it was when I bought it. Pretty much a spot on review.

    This has been my go to bench since it came out. I wasn't sold with the original pad but the wide and fat grippy pad which they (eventually) shipped to me is fantastic. Also as you say the design of the unit allows you to slide it in and pull it out with ease....always important!

    @ Def a harder decision these days. Rack-wise you won't find much difference (Rogue is 1" wider and has better nameplates and colors), but where they differ most is accessories. I'd build out everything you want and see where the pricing is at. the nice thing is if you went with Rep most Monster accessories would work fine as well. Hey Brandon, I was able to get the FB-5000 a few months ago at cost before the recent price spike. I'm loving it, but I miss doing some incline work. Which adjustable bench would you recommend is the best one for the money? I've been eyeing the AB-5000, but I'm not sure if I want to pay $650 for it (after shipping + taxes to Cali). Do you have any opinion on the Iron Master Super Bench Pro? It would save me a little over $200 and potentially grab some of its attachments with that. Would love to hear your thoughts on the best adjustable bench on the market for around $500!

  • @BasementBrandon

    @BasementBrandon

    3 жыл бұрын

    The two I own are the Rogue Adjustable 2.0 and the Rep AB5200. Both are good, with the Rep costing me ($449 before shipping/tax). I think the Rep is the better deal assuming they didn't raise that as much and assuming shipping from denver to Cali is better. The Rogue I think is the better built bench but you'd prob be looking at like $800 after shipping/taxes.

    So comparing to the FB-5000 with the wide pad, which are the same specs as the V2 I believe it might be more worth it go with the titan. Welds are great, grippy surface and no wobble. And I didn't have a problem with their infamous terrible shipping lol

  • @BasementBrandon

    @BasementBrandon

    5 жыл бұрын

    A few things, they still don't have a single post design in the front, the Rep has an extra brace on the frame for the center of the pad, 15" width starts to get to the "too wide" range IMO, and the Rep is cheaper. Titan also is known to have more issues with build quality and shipping (as you've mentioned). The Rep wins this one IMO.

    I decided to purchase the rep 5000 and the wide pad based off your review. This is my first rep purchase but I am disappointing already. The wide pad arrived with a rip about an inch long where the fabric attaches to the back of the pad. I think this rip was already there when they shipped it because the side of the fabric has dirt stains along it like this pad was not brand new. The bench and the blue paint look high quality and it is very mobile on the castors and sits up sturdy too, not likely at all to fall over easily. All in all it looks like a great bench but damn, just my luck to get a second hand unit. I may not ever again deal with Rep Fitness because again I think the unit is not new when shipped. I just purchased 5 soft foam plyoboxes from them yesterday and now I am worried about them and may cancel that order today. I just learned today that their customer service is no longer even answering the phone but only via email and that it may be 2-3 days before I even hear back from them they said in a reply email so again not stellar service from the start is it?

    Many things, the foot design on their benches are not ideal for setting up. Some have adjustable legs, which in theory sounds good, but in application can lead to instability/points of failure.
