Great video! Band saws are my favorite machines by far! I have a Craftsman tilt head that I put a Carter stabalizer on. I scroll and sculpt toys, puzzles, letters you name it. A 1/8th 14 TPI blade with the stabalizer is so versitle that I call it the worlds largest scroll saw lol. I keep a second standard model craftsmen for thicker cuts. They do everything that I need. Neither are the smoothest resawers in the world at all but I also have a planer and jointer so that takes care of that in about 3 minutes.

Thank you Tim, I made this video about 2 years ago. I have learned so much more in the last few years. I think I have a tendency to favor the "new tools" I've purchased. I still think it's a good band saw for the money. I can really appreciate the setup you ate using. Sounds like an excellent use of both tools. I love the idea of a giant scroll saw. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate that.

My bandsaw is my most versatile saw I own. It’ll do every cut in my shop. Crosscuts, rip cuts, resaw cuts, and curved cuts. It’s a legit powerhouse. I have a 14” delta bandsaw with a 6” riser block that gives us 12” of resaw capacity. Love our bandsaw!!!

Great video and I agree on the gloves. I have gone to electrical or duct taping the fingers when I'm ripping a bunch of boards if I'm worried about splinters as I keep pressure on boards against the fence. I have an old craftsman 12" bandsaw, got it with a bunch of tools and so far notching items it has been GREAT!!! That's been my main use so far so I'll have to see if some of those mods like a fence will work with mine as well. It will be fun watching you mod yours, looking forward to it.

Thanks for this review of the HF 14 inch bandsaw. Have you made any bandsaw boxes with the saw? That's what I'm interested in doing. My Delta 1/3 HP benchtop just doesn't have the power. Overall, are you pleased with the HP bandsaw so far? I watched Bassador's videos too, but a little concerned seeing all the upgrades. Makes me begin to wonder if it might be worth it to save up a little more money and buy a Rikon or maybe a Grizzly.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I do use it, although I haven't gotten any new blades. The stock blade is fine, but doesn't cut curves very well. I believe it needs a thin blade to do boxes. I really want to try wine as well. To answer your question, if I had to do it again, I probably would save up for something a little better. It seems to bog down a bit when re-sawing a piece of wood. I think it may be a little underpowered. Great comment. Thanks!

I’m looking for a bandsaw, one that’s versatile meaning I can resaw stock, make electric guitar blanks, table legs with complex angles and tapers, etc. I’m so scared to commit to anything that wouldn’t be able to do all those things but I obviously can’t afford a jet or really $800 and up is pushing it for me. I’ve bought cheap tools in the past only to wind up getting the bigger better ones and I don’t want to make that mistake here. I’m not professional but would hope to one day be able to make money off of all this investment. Would this bandsaw be versatile and powerful enough to be worth the investment?

Hello. So there is more than one way to look at this. For example I own two band saws and neither are "considered" to be great bandsaws like a big JET etc. Both are old Craftsman. One is a tilt head single speed and the other is a standard model. Both are 12". Both take an 80" blade so all my blades are interchangeable which is one of the primary reasons I have gone this route so far. Another reason is that I upgraded the tilt head with a carter stabalizer and I use it for scrolling cuts. Let me tell you it is awesome! The tilt head option is also awesome and unique. I keep a half inch 3 TPI blade on the other one for bigger cuts. I have resawn 2x6 stock on both saws. I have zero need to go bigger. Having the two set up for different guides and cuts is an invaluable time saver on switching guides and blades. The combined total I spent to purchase both saws was about a whopping $100. You can definetly find these saws for $50-100 a piece and even less. I scowered FB market place then picked and negotiated great deals. The standard model saw came with more than 20 blades. I put new tires on both and tacked them down with hair spray. Everyday I turn my band saws on and get to work is a really good day. I have also seen 14" central machinery bandsaws listed for $100. There is a learning curve with bandsaws but its worth it! Theres also lots of great info videos on bandsaws like this one on youtube. I hope this encourages you!
