Best archery/crossbow Target/Backstop

A bosses is a great archery/crossbow target/backstop.
I've had mine for 4 years and it's still in one piece.
It's suitable for both recurve and compound bows.
However it's designed for field tipped arrows and crossbow bolts not broadheads, shooting broadheads into it will significantly decrease it's lifespan.

Would this stop a crossbow bolt at point blank range? Looking for something to use indoors with a Stinger and Adder. Thanks.

Could really do with one of these myself. I used to have a compacted straw one which fell apart after leaving it out in the rain.

+lewis4642011 Yeah probably not a good idea to leave any of the stops out in the rain, you can make one from bundling cardboard together in an emergency.

If anyone hasn't much money for one a good alternative is a cheap as possible punch bag and filled it with rags. A prefilled punch bag with rags is also good and works really well.

Don't mess up a good punching bag, just get a large burlap sack and fill with old clothes etc.

I use a rubble sack stuffed with old clothes.....nothing makes it out the back lol and it was free...or failling that you can stuff shrink wrap in a box.

+tumbo1984 Yeah sounds good, if I had to make a new stop I'd probably do that, faster and easier than making a full size bosses.

I need a decent back stop again, mine is crap, and my home made one fell apart, was my own fault i left it outside to get wet and swelled up and broke frame lol, my 150lb shoots right through the one i bought, lol, only thing is they can be quite expensive, or were any.

+WeaponCollector Cool will have a look, as for stops you can also fill a sack with straw, soil or old carpet, Blades and Bows sent me a free target sack for that but I just use it for storage now as I already have the bosses which is more practical. Just sits in the shed to stay dry most of the time.

Totally necroing here but I order builders ton bags 5 for about £20, fill em with dirt, safe backstop. Of course it will murder arrows once the soil is compacted but gives me more incentive to hit my target boss! As for a cheap homemade target still haven't got there yet & use shop bought but thinking of asking local flooring suppliers if they have 1ft width offcuts they want to give/sell me then I stick em in a frame just like the layered foam bosses.

I don't have a 200lb bow but it would penetrate even further but with more diminishing returns based on mathematics.
