This is my favorite ride in Sedona, period. It ranges for all levels of fun and includes the Slim Shady and Templeton Trails, offering you a beautiful and technical ride around Cathedral Rock.
An all-encompassing loop with some moderate riding, some challenging riding, and incredible views.

Finally made it out to Sedona this past weekend and got to ride this loop. Had been looking forward to it forever, must've watched this 3 or 4 times before. Had to turn around at Cathedral Rock due to time constraints but was so fun. The Slim Shady descents are awesome, Easy Breezy while a little difficult to find the trail is great, and the views are unreal. Thanks Outsider!

"Best" is usually a subjective term, and with Sedona, it's hard to pick a bad loop. For those looking for a little more steep DH and chunk, I prefer to peel off Slim Shady onto Hi Line at the red rock overlook then to Baldwin which you pointed out in your video. For some additional mileage, add in a Hogs loop.

Hi Tony, thanks for making these POV videos. When I first saw some videos like these, I was like, what the heck, why would anyone sit around and watch these? Then a couple of weeks ago while my husband was watching one of your Skypark videos, I hopped on the bike trainer in the living room and started pedaling while watching. Ok, then I got why - for me, anyway. Getting out to actually ride is problematic for me for a variety of reasons but it's always a chore to get on the trainer. You know, 'cause it's boring. Now I have something NOT boring to watch while I'm riding the trainer and it helps me get through a short stationary bike session. It kind of feels like I'm riding along with you, you know? Sometimes when you come to what looks like a drop or a tricky technical spot I actually stop pedaling, like, Whoa, quick, what do I do? Hahaha! So thanks! Keep making your POV videos because they're awesome!

Great ride, great video! Bell Rock is the formation straight ahead as you are about to pull into the parking lot (0:29 in video). The formation directly ahead when you talk about it is Courthouse Butte. I rode these trails years ago (26" hardtail days) and the switchbacks down Templeton off Cathedral Rock to the trail along Oak Creek weren't there. It was "carry your bike straight up/down a steep slope" back then. The Forest Service and VVCC (Verde Valley Cycling Coalition) have put in some tremendous work since then and continue to do so. Every year there are more and more miles of trails around Sedona. Axis, Rover, Ground Control, and others out west near Aerie/Cockscomb area are worth a look next time you are up here.

I think the disadvantage to biking the Sedona trails is that you are focused so much on the bike and staying alive that you miss the some of the phenomenal energy of Sedona itself. That doesn't mean it is bad to ride the trails there, just be sure to take a bit of time to 'smell the roses'!

I wish a had a more specific answer for you other than right now I'm on some WTB (Wilderness Trail Bikes) tires. Vigilante 2.5 in the front and a Trail Boss 2.4 in the back. I'de check in with calling the shop Over The Edge in Sedona if you want to know what the locals are riding. To be honest, the terrain is so different from one trail to the next you might be good on what you already have. Have fun Jeremy and thanks for watching!

Approx how long for this loop? 2hrs? Going to be in Sedona this weekend and would love to ride this loop and then some. How would I incorporate Hiline into this? I saw you mention it in the 2nd half of the video but looking at MTB Project map this is a more direct route to the mid spot. Would it be best to ride the main loop and then hit Hiline afterwards and ride the return half again?? Or would I be spent?

Thank YOU for watching! I’ve never ridden Hiline but plan to my next trip. Also, double check the entrance versus where the exit is just in case. I hear it’s amazing!

If you’re going down templeton to Oak Creek, it’s a FAR better ride on Hiline to get there. There are only a couple tough bits on Hiline that you can walk if you need, but overall it’s way better than Templeton

Nice vid! Good stuff. Will be in Sedona in May with my bike. How difficult would you say this trail is? Looks like a solid blue with some more techy black stretches. Is that about right? Sometimes it's hard to tell by video.

Thank you Joel - I'd 'ay solid intermediate but you can always walk sections you don't feel comfortable with. A lot of it is pretty easy, just take it slow. There aren't any surprises I didn't feature in the video, but things so look bigger in real life. Hope this helps a bit.

No issues with assembly for me kzread.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L but I could see where some might benefit from using an experienced bike assembler/mechanic. I'm an older rider starting back after a 10 year break. This bike exceeds my capabilities and has been easy to get comfortable riding. I'm mostly on easy trails with almost no street riding and have not been disappointed with the performance of the bike. My fitness level is far below what I previously rode with and because of that the mileage is going on the bike slowly. While I'm losing weight slowly, the bike seems to tolerate my 220 pounds just fine. The bike has been used by several family members ranging from 5'5" - 5'9".
