As french, we know how great he was! Don't forget that he is word champion with the french team 1998...! Fabien Barthez was number one at this time, he was behind but could easely play instead of Barthez!

@@ismaellaptes7706 I remember around 97/98 Lama joined West Ham and he was a sensation in the premier league. No person had heard of him and suddenly he was one of the best keepers in the league.

Sono un po' di anni che avevo la fissa di Bernard Lama, lo apprezzavo negli anni '90 in cui era un po' snobbato e molto sottovalutato, spesso qui su youtube mi vengo a riguardare i suoi Best Of. Aspettavo un video di Barbosa su di lui, finalmente! Fortissimo nelle uscite, nella reattività e soprattutto nel bloccare la palla, una dote che i portieri di oggi hanno perso, preferiscono sempre respingere di pugno anche in situazioni in cui non dovrebbero. Vive Bernard Lama!

Bernard Lama n'a jamais été sous-estimé en France. Il est clairement reconnu comme ayant été le meilleur gardien français des années 90. Bien meilleur que F. Barthez, J. Bats, P. Olmeta, G. Huard ou B. Martini.

Purtroppo i portieri oggi non possono più rischiare di stoppare i palloni come facevano un tempo. Sono cambiati i campi, i palloni, i guanti... a me dispiace perché era una caratteristica spettacolare.

Esattamente..un gatto tra i pali, agilissimo ed anche molto bravo nella presa ..lo conosco poco io, ma da quel che ho visto, sicuramente sottovalutato.

There must be a reason why he was called "the cat". Man, that times... a generation of great goalkeepers. Lama, Preud'homme, Zenga, Kahn, Vitor Baia, Zubizarreta, Chilavert, Van Der Sar, Pagliuca... beasts.

Good video with good music. Bernard Lama was a great Goal Keeper even better than Fabien Barthez. I think that bernard Lama lost his place in French National because he belonged to the team 1993. The player of the French team of 1993 have been punished with for not have been qualified for world cup 1994.

It's a difficult one. Deschamps, Blanc, Desailly, Djorkaeff and Petit were part of the 1993 humiliation but all went on to win the WC with France in 1998. Other players like Ginola, Cantona and Papin just lost their places to the upstarts.

he was suspended for cannabis use and he was in conflict with the management of Psg who had recruited a French hopeful (Christophe Revault) at the worst of times (mid 1997). With his advanced age, 34, very few big clubs wanted him, he made an unconvincing interlude at West Ham. At the same time, Barthez was amazing with Monaco. Coach Aymé Jacquet preferred to change number 1 at this time.

He was still goalkeeper in Euro 96, Barthez was just rising strongly and had affinities with more other France players

Not underated ... he was the french goal keaper of the national team in the 90's and behind Fabien Bathez in 1998....

@@jeanphilius5065 tous les nouveaux gardiens depuis 20 ans expulsent et ne captent plus les ballons... c’est nul... ça renforçait la beauté de l’arrêt et imposait un certain charisme en plus de rassurer encore plus une défense... Personnellement, tous les nouveaux gardiens, sur la ligne y a pas grand chose à dire mais au niveau global je les trouve franchement moyens... peu sortent du lot, ils se ressemblent tous maintenant... aseptisés 👎👎👎

Bernard Lama never like it but i remenber very well him, Menzo and N'Kono. When we play in the streets, kids 😅 all my black friends play in Goal they all said "im N'Kono" or "Im Lama" We reply "NO NO not Lama!" 😂😂😂😂😂

Clearly blessed with great reflexes & agility 💪👍 maybe he should have been France 🇫🇷 98 first choice ahead of Barthez whom always had a mistake in him🤦🏻 however having said that we all know how Fabien ended up lifting all the big trophies & the rest is history 🤷🏻♂️

@@relentero8547 didn’t play a single minute though & in contrast Fabien ended up best keeper of the tournament. The sad part is Bernard was France first choice goalie at Euro96 which reached the semifinal & only to be denied by penalties & he should have continued but you can’t deny Barthez organisation skills & distribution with his hands/feet also what helped Fabien’s acolytes (Ligue 1 & of course the champions league) & age been 8 years younger up & coming keeper with future to build around kinda made sense in a way but between the two I’ll say Lama was the better shots stopper over Barthez the clown

Barthez managed to make it through two WC finals with overall only two and three goals conceded, he was mostly on fire with his national team (also won euro 2000 😮)

Il a été contrôlé positif au cannabis après un match en 1997 ( France- Pays Bas)et suspendus pratiquement 10 mois . Barthez est devenu numéro 1 entre temps.

Étant supporter d'une nation l'équipe de France Bernard Lama pour moi était un super gardien le chat il porte bien son nom entre lui et Barthez franchement il y a match..... Je suis supporter des Girondins Bernard Lama pour moi il vaut largement Fabien Barthez on peut changer de femme mais on ne peut pas changer de club les Girondins de Bordeaux même si ILS disparaissent dans les profondeurs de LA national du classement je resterai Girondins de Bordeaux et çela sera toujours mon club de cœur un club les Girondins une nation l'équipe de France après je suis admiratif du MILAN je suis admiratif du grand Milan de 1988- 2007 inclus et bien content de les avoir niké l'année où ils sont champions d'Italie en 1996 Bernard Lama pour moi était ex equo avec Barthez et après en 2006 il y a eu l'affaire est-ce qu'on met Grégory coupé titulaire ou Fabien Barthez coupé était peut-être meilleur mais Barthez il a une tranquillité une assurance et il connaît tous les joueurs depuis très longtemps il est tout cool en train de fumer sa clope dans sa chambre souvenez-vous les yeux dans les Bleus

Heu, je dirai plutot que c'est l'inverse.... Lama étant précurseur dans son style, un peu de respect please.
Ils ont mis barthez numero 1 parce qu'il etait jeune et avait gagne la champions league contre le grand milan ac en 1993 et en verite l'histoire du cannabis a plombe sa place alors que barthez aussi mais ca arrangeait a l'epoque
