The problem is Bill, everyone has lost their sense of humor--but have FOUND--and replaced humor--with vindictiveness and a gotcha mentality(including lawsuits). It's sad and indicative of a failing society, where the upcoming generation will consist of unfeeling people(except for outrage),who will be very dissatisfied, without the laughter they forbid themselves to experience.

Or maybe it's simply that we've become a culture of emotional weaklings who are offended by everything. I would be hard-pressed to believe that a seasoned comedian and actor like Bill Murray would do something so egregious that it would cause an entire movie production to have to be shut down in a reasonable world.

You're right, he didn't. Film sets can be very tense or trying places to work because a lot of people are trying to get jobs done, hopefully to a high standard, and one way that cast and crew get through the day without too much conflict or bad vibes is use humour. Unfortunately, as everyone knows, woke and humour cannot co-exist and projects, like films, that rely on trust and goodwill to succeed will fail.

absolutely true, people can no longer laugh at themselves or recognize an outlandish comment that is meant to be funny not harmful. all in the Family was a classic and opened societal awareness of issues and even though we laughed we recognized the underlying issues. Reality is - before woke was a thing, Murray has had numerous complaints against him. Based on past events, its a stronger likelihood he was creepy here again. Wtf are you talking about? You just made what happened in your own head. Murray says he did something he thought was funny, that the other person did find very funny. That could LITERALLY mean anything. He could have beat a guy to death on set for a laugh, and it would fit his description of what happened. He doesn’t even say who this person is, other than that is someone he’s working with. Furthermore he seems to genuinely understand that it (whatever it was) rubbed the person the wrong way, though he thought it was funny. I mean, your summary of this is just the delusion projections of a crazy person. Get some help!

If I were the studio, I’d scrap the whole project and then hire everyone back EXCEPT the actor who filed the complaint and move forward with someone else. oh, it can and WILL survive. This over privileged Woke movement is only 'in' a tiny minority of countries (historically, the most progressive in history). Those who supported this conveniently 'forgot' that. The rest of the world (93%) where women, minorities of all kinds and those on the fringes of society, are kept down. Those countries have recorded all the acting out in the West. Recorded it, into media archives that will be shown to their populations for 100's of years to come. As an example, imagine what tribal women think of 3rd wave feminist demonstrations? They don't see 'women' they see demons these days. So far removed, culturally, are they from 'woke'. Those who have attacked the most progressive countries, while the rest of the world watched, have both betrayed their causes AND stopped that progressive culture spreading globally ..ever. Which countries would go through all that? None! A FACT, you will not hear in the media (western) that supported these attacks. Funny that. And I haven't got into the funding of these radical progressive movements. Especially from abroad (specifically, enemy states). Who, after funding some of this in the West, openly banned those same movements in their country. The CCP and their ban on feminism recently (citing what they saw in the West), I a classic example. Western 'useful idiots' played their part well in getting feminism banned there ..and in quite a few other places too. Also, helped many countries maintain the segregation they have too Not to worry, your media will hide this all from you. So, you can sleep easier in your beds. In summary, those who attacked the most progressive countries in ALL history. You have betrayed the causes you claimed to support (on a global scale). Not just for your generation ..but for many generations to come (it may, never raise again). You should have looked at history, and realised how good you had it ...better than anyone else in human history. Better than, future generations now too. Traitors!

John Cleese said that under political correctness laws, they will expect all comedy to be banned, because all comedy skit, film, clip or stand up makes a joke of someone, some group or something. If you can’t handle someone making a joke of you about something, getting embarrassed over trivial things or doing stupid stuff. It’s called life you get use to it, you learn to laugh along with it. We could always distinguish between a joke, having fun and bullying but now there’s no line, it’s all bullying to them now. Just because you take everything about yourself 'very seriously' and do not have the ability to laugh at yourself, what makes you think you can force this attitude on everyone else? Bill Murray is a fantastic guy. He is funny, down to earth, respectful of others, and he has gone out of his way to be good to everyone he meets in the public. Heck, the guy has even gone to random parties people were having and sang, played musical instruments, and made everyone laugh. What is wrong with people today? Where has everyone’s sense of humor gone? Why is everyone so easily offended and why do they have to scream and holler about it, rather than just talk to the person who offended them? Whoever the woman is, should learn to have a little fun.

  • @caleidoo

Amazing how "feeling offended" has now the power to shut down a whole production. Imagine what this will do to anyone else seeing it happen. No jokes, walking on ice, 20 "emotional consultants" on the set, everyone filling out forms every evening "were you offended today?".... And I'm sorry to point it out, but in a large majority of cases, it's going to be a female co-worker making an official complaint. And no I am not a sexist guy and sure in some domains there is systematically been too much verbal abuse or inequality.... but at the same time, in some work situations, everyone is mocked, regardless of gender. And I'm pretty sure if a woman made a comment to a man, the man is not going to take that as offensive in most cases, let alone go put out a formal complaint. There are always exceptions of course, rightfully so. I just feel that we shifted to a situation where someone makes a joke or a remark, a certain group of people now know they have the power to end the other's career. Or pull the whole working crew or company into a bad situation. And no, I'm not talking about 1950s sexual comments to women or bad physical behaviour. I'm talking about things Bill Murray would say: a guy who has no intention to deeply hurt someone and just has a wicked sense of humour. I'm also pretty sure that a lot of people are actually not offended, but just know "Wait, he/she said this to me, so I can use this to damage him (or her), even if it's just a joke and I'm actually not offended". I'm glad I'm in Europe and not living in high tension, high sensitive work environment. Although these things have a tendency to blow over to EU, so it's just a matter of time. That being said, I'm pretty sure that Bill Murray thinks about this the same way, but he know he just can't say that aloud anymore. Especially not in this interview. It's sad, really.
