Berg Lake Trail, Mt Robson, BC, Canada [Amazing Places 4K]

Berg Lake Trail is frequently quoted as one of the finest trails in the Canadian Rockies and in North America.
The trail to Robson Pass is 46 km / 28 mi round trip, from there the Mumm Basin-Hargreaves Glacier trail provides stunning views of Berg Lake and Berg Glacier.
Amazing hike, unfortunately, the air was not clear that day because of distant fires in the Rockies (quite visible in the far away shots of Mt Robson).
Main locations, as shown in the video (first appearance, if any): Mt Robson (0:05), Robson River (0:25), Kinney Lake (0:39), Valley of a Thousand Falls (0:48), Falls of the Pool (1:52), Emperor Falls (2:19), Mist Glacier (2:39), Berg Lake (2:55), Berg Glacier (3:08) Views from Mumm Basin trail (4:03), Robson Glacier (4:10 on the left), Hargreaves Glacier and Lake (5:17), Mt Robson from the Visitors Center (5:50).
Recorded July 2015 in 4K (Ultra HD) with Sony AX100. Edited with Adobe Premiere Pro CC.

We live in beautiful, stunning Colorado, and this gorgeous Canadian scenery takes our breath away!!!!! We've always loved our beyond amazing trips to Canada. The people, the hospitality, the peace and beauty of the land and the history of the diverse people who inhabited the lands so rich in culture. We feel incredibly blessed every time we are welcomed to share in the sacred history and beauty of all of the people we meet and the amazing stories of many of the their ancestors.

I did the trip to Berg Lake and Mt. Robson with a friend in the summer of 1978. It all looks much then as now. We lucked out with gorgeous weather. Beautiful blue skies and perfect views of Robson. It was very memorable.

I was blessed to be able to do this hike back in around 1985 or so, and didn't have the cameras of our time, so it was awesome to relive that trip...that probably my favorite mountain.

Hi Milosh, It seems your love of wild and beautiful places exactly mirror my own…Now if only I had your talent and your legs :-) I attempted this trail in June of 2007. My wife was to accompany me as far as Kinney Lake and then return to the Lodge. I was then planning to go on up to Berg and back in a day. It was probably more than I could manage and the weather was rainy and not pleasant so I quit on the idea and returned with her. Your video makes me want to make another trip to the Canadian Rockies, (our 4th) Milosh, please let me know if this is not the appropriate forum to discuss more than just the video you posted, Kind regards Drew

Drew Irving Hi Drew, Was interesting to hear about your experience! We did the hike in a perfect weather and it helped a lot! Unfortunately the air was not clear because of fires (near and far) in the Rockies (this is visible in the shots of Mt Robson from far away). We booked a helicopter flight to the end of the trail (Robson Pass) with the idea to do it one way only. The flight got cancelled because of the fires, and we did not hike that day. Now comes the crazy part - we were absolutely resolute to do this highly popular trip, so next morning we hit the trail at 4:45am. We did the round trip plus the Mums trail (with the amazing views of Mt Robson, the viewpoint is 500 m above the lake). The total trip came to 53 km/1290 m altitude gain (33 miles / 4,230 ft). We managed to finish in 15 hours with short break for lunch and many stops to shoot video. Anyway, I am glad we did it and I should not complain about the visibility and the clarity of the air, as it might have been worse, like rain in your case.

Andre Caetano Thank you! I am certainly looking to go to shoot places in Europe (there are enough for many lifetimes). So far I have only videos from Norway and from Meteora in Greece. From South America I have done more, in my channel you will find videos from great locations in Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Brazil, Equador

is overnight camping in berg lake enough to explore mount robson especially the mumm basin trail?

if you will be camping you can do two nights as well, but with one night you should be able to cover it. I would highly recommend Canadian Rockies Trail Guide by Brian Patton and Bart Robinson for any info on the trails in the area and any other area of the Canadian Rockies!

How long from berg lake does it take to get to the point where you can see the whole lake to get a good picture of the lake and glacier?

+Lauren Freeman I think that trail was about 7-8 km, maybe 3 hours, but because you descend into a different place you reduce by 2-3 km your distance going back (this is just off the top of my head, could be different) Unfortunately I am on a trip right now and cannot check the timestamps of the clips and pictures and the description of the trail in the great book that we used about hiking in the Canadian Rockies, do not remember the authors, but it is easy to find. If you remind me after April 14 I can give you better info.

Just one, very close to the road, not on the trail. Couple of others too, in other parks of the Canadian Rockies

@@milosh9k --I live in this region. Perfect music. Reflects the remoteness, quiet timelessness and silent visual power of the landscape, only rushing water and the booming of falling ice makes noise.
